Really liked this episode but this song put a sour taste in my mouth. Having been there I know the lyrics aren't true for all of Africa but there is starvation and drought. Seeing these shiny celebrities singing the darker lines of this song with big plastic smiles showed a total lack of connection with the lyrics. It felt insipid.

It's great that the profits from it are going to charity, fantastic that the show is helping the world but as a performance it was shallow.

Yes, this song is incredibly patronising and frankly plain wrong in a number of ways but it was written to raise money for a worthwhile cause so its flaws are forgiveable. There are plenty of pop songs that send terrible messages, don't hate on someone for liking a song that encourages charity.

I've been to Kenya on missions trips and it is a beautiful country I would definitely go back. The Glee version proceeds are going to famine relief around the world

The Nilo really is a huge river! Although you have to remember that  that is a time during the year when the Nilo flows with a very small water volume..so, no rain or river flows!
