Free trade is about globalism, not about what's best for nations and their people. While mistakes were made during the great depression, the greater folly is to make blanket statements suggesting that all policies under taken at the time were folly, and smugly assume, with our heads up our asses, that we have all the answers that our forefathers didn't. Free trade doesn't necessarily mean fair trade - especially in the case of huge trade deficits. Globalism is making matters worse, not better.
