@streight4lk It has more sun exposure and more surface area (the grass), meaning the snow melts much faster. The amount of wind blowing through also sends more drying breezes through it as well. In an alternative explanation, the whole series has shittastic tons of magic (how the fuck did a fox turn human), so a not-so-snowy grassfield is the least of one's concerns.
