  • unchained melody? excellent

  • amazing ? ... i see nothing amazing here , good yeah , but "amazing ? " no

  • THAT'S NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @StephaneGrappeli I use The Band violin amplifier if that is of any use to you. It works quite well also.

  • wow!

  • Umm, I don't like the colour of his violin xD

hahaha, but besides that, I like the way he plays ^^

  • he is one of the most powerful violinist I have ever seen, impressed.

  • BRAVO! :)

  • I love that song!! We played it in orchestra, so fun to play! But he isn't like the best violinist in the world...

  • @ChristianOrtega123

"The best violonist in the world" is a moot concept that has no reality. This guy is very good. He may be first violin in a well known orchestra, who knows? Joshua Bell (who, some say, could be the best in the world) has been known to play in the street; a few people noticed him, most passed by, even as he was masterfully playing bach's Chaconne. How many armchair critics here would have recognized his talent?

  • @pchantreau It's figurative speech! Lol. not everything is literal.

  • ugh, bad sound

  • @ueharakikumi No. I play the violin for over a decade. It's actually great sound, considering that it was recorded with a cam etc. I would love to know what Pickup he is using and I buy it tomorrow!

  • I am just learning to play the violin. I wish I could some day play like that...

  • My what a beautiful song! And he played it so well :) I loovee his vibrato! Was so perfect ! Really brought the notes of the song out :)

  • Great skills

  • the violin sound is too rich and clear to be from a radio/recording, unless you're a master at audio editing...anyways he has the CD playing in the background so he can play along with it, a lot of musicians do it, if they don't have anyone to play with or just wanna make himself feel like he's in an orchestra to get the feeling of a grand performance. sometimes a piece being played just sound much more inviting if it is blended with other musical instruments

  • stunning... :0 wow, he plays really well you just tell like *snap my fingers* that.

  • great player, terrible hair

  • i see him at downtown disney on weekends!

  • This guy is really good, do you happen to know his name? upload the complete video please!

  • joshua bell?

  • amazing i play the violin and wow thos pesoson is good and extra to memorise this song

  • amazing i play the violin and wow thos pesoson is good

  • very very very amazing.

he's talented, that is obvious, at least its obvious for another musician to feel his natural style while he is playing the violin. i have just one more word: awesome.

  • seriously, people who don't know anything about music should just shut up...I'm a violin major and I can tell that he is skilled! his vibrato is so even and his sound is very sweet, this guy has def been playing for a longer time....so if you feel like claiming that this could be picked up in several months, just quit talkin about something that is obviously too sophisticated for you. thanks.

  • One more thing. He is playing some notes at 5th or 7th or 10 position. I can't tell exactly the position but if your a beginner, he is a prodigy for playing 4th positions up.

  • I will agree with toosmallworld, I guess this man is playing since he was a kid. Playing Guitar is easy since it is fretted and whether you are short of 1mm it will still sound okay. In violin, it is not, you must hit the exact spot or else it will sound flat or sharp.

Another thing, perfectly bowing parallel to the bridge which is hard for me as a beginner to maintain.

  • mah teacher says dont play outside or yo instrument will get outta tune

  • Хорошо.

  • there are 2 other good violinists on yanni

  • I have played the violin for 7 years. And he is really good :)) I don't really like the song that much, but he is very skilled. You can tell from his vibrado :)

  • Loved it.... thanks for postin

  • Ive heard better but no doubt a master at his work

  • Cool! This guy plays in Disney walk!!!

  • unchained melody yeap

  • i saw him two days ago =]

  • Haven't seen many violinist have you? He's good, not the best, but good.

  • you haven't seen many violin players then...

  • beautiful~ I wish I could play the violin...

  • Are you seriously stupid enough to say something like that? Ofcourse he is playing an accompaniment to a song, anyone without any prior musical knowledge could tell that from the fact that there is multiple instruments playing. DER

  • scam

  • its not you playing there is a backround music .the music backround is recordind in studio

  • i remember a movio of romance whit this song

  • That was Drew Trelick.

  • @sharonkayb

    Sorry. Drew Tretick.

  • who is this guy?? Beautiful!!

  • His violin is so shiny in comparison to mine!

    And so is his playing~

  • Is this in downtown disney?! I think i've seen him before if it is!

  • People like that guy contribute to make the world a little better

  • This is very calming it is beutifull.

  • I never tire of listening to this. I get chills each time I hear it.

  • i think his name is drew tretick.

  • he is REMI GAILLARD

  • god i love the part at 0:16

  • Too bad it stops here. I'd listen to it more.

  • This is really pretty.

  • yeah this is really good

  • ahaha thats in disney land!!!!!!

  • super and beautiful

  • Oh, and I'm afraid ethereal isn't quite my style, I'm more of a Dvorak or Tchaikovsky, where the sheer force of the music draws the listener in. But I'm just an ambitious student, my style has yet to fully develop.

  • what is the composition called?

  • @GeorgeMaier

    Unchained melody

  • OST Ghost movie. Composed by Maurice Jarre.

  • playing with such ease & style, beautiful!

  • Joshua Bell with a bad haircut.

  • This guy has been playing in Downtown disney for ages.

  • How do ya know if hes really playin. What if that speaker thing is playing the music. Ive seen a dude in atlantic city do the same thing. I dont wanna seem like a hater but that doesnt sound like a normal violin, the sound is very refined.

  • i have to agree with you, its too loud

  • the dudes gotta be a real egotist to set up his own lights for himself in the middle of city and in the middle of the day

    haha

  • actually, adding lights ESPECIALLY does something psychologically to you.....

If you ask any rock band, they will tell you the hardest thing is the flashing lights, the lights add a realistic setting to it, and will tend to throw you off track, which forces you to master the piece better.

  • He is very good but not amazing.

  • Yes, I agree, he plays with such finesse. I play in a top major symphony orchestra and we are always happy to find new and talented artists like this. Itzhak Perlman has played with us several times, and this violinist's tone reminds me quite a bit like Perlman. Quite a fine player indeed!

  • very nice violin player!

    oh! nice wig:@#$

  • :((((

  • so what you're saying is that the asians enjoy the finer things in life better than the "others" ?

  • i've heard better

  • where is the full thing? and wahts the song called?

  • unchained melody... righteous brothers..

  • Joshua Bell

  • He kinda looks like the Base player from Metalica..lol

  • bass.

    BOOOOOOO!!!!

  • I can´t find if anybody has recognized him. Who might he be ?

  • hes that guy that plays in disneyland in california I saw him you can ask him some stuff when he finishs playing and stuff Ive seen so yeah but idk if he still there lol was their 2 years ago

  • he's really good, i play violin too and his very good with timing but he strains notes a tiny bit too long, but besides that he's brilliant a very beautiful piece to play.

you should check out Yanni he's one of the best violinists in the world he plays the fastest and highest notes ive ever heard on a violin!

  • The name of the song is "Unchained Melody".

  • hi everbody! someone knows the name of the song? very thx to everything answer me^^

  • yeah well people don't really run into enough diverse music in general since they're all into the nonsense Britney Spears BS so when they see someone like this live in front of them they're going to get excited.

  • dick

  • insult me all you want, but i'm right.

  • holly and bull sh*t man...anyone cares...

  • everybody can

  • i want to see a video response

  • i can't play violin but i can play a mean guitar, and it only took me a few hours.

peopel say "oh you need to prove it"

it's not about proving it, it's that people, amazingly, don't know the value of practice.

just play 2 hours a day every day

you'll be amazed at how much you get better.

    BUT

morons such as the idiots who thumbed me down, don't kow this because they're lazy douchebags T_

  • There's no way this level of skill can be obtained in three months. I don't know if guitar is different, but to play this well, a violinist would need about ten to twenty years.

A British study also proved that to play the violin well, a person needs 10,000 hours. Even if you practiced nonstop for three months, you wouldn't even come close to this level.

  • This level of skill? you obviously lack hearing, he's playing notes, not chords, genius, he's not playing anything complicated.

  • Do you know anything about playing the violin?

Do you hear the rich tone of his violin, do you see his smooth vibrato, and the subtle shifts of his hand?

If you're a violinist, you can tell if a person is good even if they're not playing a difficult song. A person learning violin learns different skills as they progress, and perfect these skills through the years. His excellent vibrato and fluent bowing show that he's obviously been playing for a very long time.

  • Considering that most people lack any real skill what so ever?

this is easy, doesn't take much practice.

  • You can't even determine the level of this man's playing. A person who actually plays the violin would know that this man is definitely not an amateur, and that he has spent years of practice to be this good.

And you say he isn't playing chords. Double-stops are not hard at all to master. In fact, you learn them early on in the violin education, and they're not used that often. Difficult songs like the Czardas don't even use them that much. I learned double-stops at age 5.

  • You can drop the arrogant banter, he's not playing something incredible, ignorance tells people he is, facts say he's not.

  • You're the ignorant one! You don't play violin, you can't tell how well he plays! If you say this can take three months, I'd like to see you try! Stick to commenting on guitar videos, because you've completely underestimated an excellent violin player. Vibrato (that shaky thing he's doing with his fingers) isn't learned when you've only been playing for three months! And he's doing it so well too. Most beginners (three-month players) are stiff with their bow. He's not.

  • you'd think people telling you you're wrong is enough proof.

Guess your ignorance has the better of you

  • you iced him

  • @toosmallworld

I agree, in fact, many have stiff bows even after 3 years of playing! Not to mention how the player in this video plays perfect octaves completely in tune effortlessly, I doubt any beginner can do that.

  • Double-Stops are much more common and much harder than what you're saying. You most likely didn't master them at 5, because the 5-year-old who played Paganini Caprice 24 was nowhere near mastery, and couldn't have mastered them without years of intense practice. Have you seen the Paganini Caprices? Chords and double-stops are very plentiful in those. There are many concertos with plenty of double-stops. Trust me, their common.

  • Hm, Csardas isn't a very difficult piece, but you do have a point in that pieces like Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso, incorporate, but don't linger on double stops. Once a violinist masters independence between fingers, it's quite simple. It's really an issue of fundamental intonation. But imo the reason the person who made the video made it was because they thought the piece was hard, which it is not.

  • Comment removed

  • hey anyone no the name of the song he is playing

  • unchained melody

  • Do you thing this gay better than Stephane Grappelli? or Subramaniam?

  • i think i saw this guy somewhere around Disneyland. And i think i bought his CDs too

  • search cool violin player

    2nd one

this guy plays owner of a lonely heart and smooth criminal on a violin

  • alew depue is his name. he is really good

  • is that toon town at disneyland??

  • No question he is good...but if hes the best youve ever seen...could you play go to your local symphony and try to maybe catch their conzert meister playing a solo. In todays violin world.....the most well known violinist would probally be itzhak perlman.

  • hahaha

    a looooooooooooong lonely TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIME!

  • Wow! Sounds like a whole concert (ish) in just one guy!!! Beautifully played. It wasn't fast or "hard" it was soul-touching.

  • he played so wow...but is it a hair or a curly hat?

  • I don't belive he's the best persay , but he does have outstanding talent ! This performance would better to hear in a propare concert hall but also it's good to see people can still freely enjoy emaculate talent !

  • please, go to profesionals concerts.lol

  • oops

  • AH! I loved it!

  • Diamond on the road...

  • Nice vibrato!!!!!!!!!

  • Fabulous

  • ... guys.. he really isn't thata good...

    he's pretty average..

  • wow..that sounds like 'stradivari'

  • His vibrato is fantastic!

  • How can people criticise such beauty?

  • it made me cry

  • ehi is beautiful

  • Um, he's a professional violin player, one of the best in the world. I doubt some high school students would easily top him..

  • lol he got a mop on his head!

  • I don't mean to be critical...but I don't think he's the best violin player ever. I've got a few very talented people in my high school orchestra that could probably best him. He is very good at the high notes up on the finger board, very in tune.

  • Yes, he's not the best. I think most high school students could top him.

  • Not most, but it has been my priviledge to meet many that would be just as good or better than him. But you do have to take into account that the sound quality is not very good, and thus our judgment might be slightly compromised. I mean live is always better, no matter what the sound quality is on audio. :)

  • whats the movie about though? i've never seen it

  • damn, that song is my favorite oldie, its called Unchained Melody

  • Are you sure? It was played in the movie "Ghost' right when he was ready to go up to heaven.

  • it was but the name of the song is Unchained Melody.

  • hmm, heshud be wayy up in some european athene

    no disney here, fellows

  • yeah... i was thinking that too... but you never know... he is tight

  • hair......

  • fake?

  • If he's the best violin player you've ever seen, you should definitely listen to Yehudi Menuhin, or Jascha Heifetz, or Itzhak Perlman, or Christian Ferras of Ilya Kaler....greetings

  • could you please tell me his name?

    he's just gifted! amazing!

  • Drew Tretick... Andrea Bocelli played piano with him on one of his US tours!

  • ive seen this guy ive got a cd of his music and got it signed

  • I wish all buskers were as good as him!

  • This was in Downtown Disney. It's some shops that you go through before entering Disneyland.

  • wow that was so awesome..

  • i had the pleasure of meeting MR Tretick Drew

he is really amazing his performance of A TIME TO SAY GOOD BYE makes me cry . he is very talented and humble

  • no wonder he is good he wasnt born in the u.s.

  • This song was covered by U2! :D

Great violin cover though. I am stunned from the heart spreading through out my whole body.

    Amazing

  • can some one please tell me what he is playing!?!? i would like to know !!!!!

  • The song is "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers

  • thanks but do you know how i can get it with out words but more violin? i will appreciate it. thanks

  • sorry augierodriguez, but I think this is rather his own interpretation and the intro is not part of the song. Yet the violin sounds intriguing, it seems to be sustained by a recording.

Anyway the performance is great !

  • Drew is a very close personal friend of mine, and I think I can tell everyone that he's almost finished with the final mix on his London Symphony album (I think he mentions it on his website now). It's taken some time because the man is a perfectionist. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure to meet him, I can tell you that is is as great a person as he is a violin maestro.

  • Hes amazing :)

    I love that song !

    x

  • dude i saw him too he performes at disney i was watching him play for like an hour

  • omgosh i freaking cant stand this guy... i see this guy every time i go to downtown disney... its amazing the first time around... not after the 100th.. ha
