  • You don't need a hysterectomy for fibroids or ovarian cysts unless you have the wrong doctor. Go to the HERs Foundation on the web for more info.

  • @FindingKC It's hard to make blanket statements like that... however, more information never hurts.

  • @FindingKC that wasnt the reason why she was getting it done. she was getting it done for pain that they could not diagnose. but she had been diagnosed for cysts and fibroids.

  • Hi Dr.kevin i have a adnexal mass 8cm on my left side and my dr. whats to remove the left ovary and the fallopian tube.i have 4 kids and i'm 32 years old can you tell me what you thing?i what a second opinion

  • Dr Stepp: I've been scheduled for this type of surgery; multiple fibroids of varying sizes in a 22-wk sized uterus, plus solid ovarian cyst found after ultrasound. My Dr wants to perform an abdominal horizontal, below-bellybutton incision. Canceled surgery... awaiting another opinion; prefer the laparoscopic alternative- daVinci use perhaps (less invasive)

  • It's never a bad idea to get a second opinion... certainly daVinci would be less invasive than traditional open surgery. Depending on the skills of your surgeon, the daVinci robot may not be necessary.

  • hey, i know someone who has dermoid cyst. Is this a dangerous operation, and what are the consequences?

    thx

  • Dermoid cysts are very common and the surgeries are usually well tolerated. But all surgeries involve risks and she should discuss them with her doctor...

  • brave heart !.. don't you affraid off ureter ?!

  • Dr.Kevin is it true that after this surgery the woman will lose her sexual desire????

  • Hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) should not affect sexual desire (libido). This is controlled by hormones. Depending on a woman's age, removing the ovaries may have an affect on libido. I encourage you to discuss this with your doctor if you are considering hysterectomy. Gynecologists used to tell women that we should remove them to prevent ovarian cancer and then just give hormone replacement therapy "to keep you healthy." That is not the case anymore. Hope that helps.

  • @DrKevinStepp it is not true... women lost her ability to feel uterus type of orgasm. Also blood supply decreases that have an affect on ... and others...unpalatable truth is better

  • @DrKevinStepp orgam will be more weker

  • Youtube is getting hung up and doesn't show I posted the reply. you probably got it a bunch more time.. sorry. I couldn't email b/c of friend block.
