  • Even though these guys are on hit wonders (with the exception of Ben Orr) they made tons of money b/c back in the 80s you just needed one hit for people to buy records. Now even the popular bands don't rely on CD sales since their music can be downloaded anywhere. They have to have tons of hits to hold a concert.

  • Why is Benjamin Orr on this? He was part of the Cars and made tons of hits.

  • 8:24 RIP Patrick...

  • Interesting that you put Rush Hour as Jane Weidlen's only hit. In Chicagoland on WLS FM they used to play Blue Kiss way more than that song. Just saying. :-)

  • Um, Saga was a kick-ass band, with a lot of good tunes ... some of them aren't even dated.

  • All I can say is thank goodness Jack Wagner and Patrick Swayze were better actors than rock stars. Although they both rocked...and Jack still rocks, RIP Patrick!

  • I don't remember most of these whack ass songs. Only about three of these songs were played on VH1 one hit wonders.

  • Thumbs up for OXO. Sa-Fire, Baltimora, Van Stephenson, Paul Hardcastle, Patrick Swayze.

  • you forgot " god hates fags " by reverend phleps.

  • if u only knew god u would know he does not have hatred in his heart for anyone

  • ben orr has more then one hit in to the night .

  • midnight star had more than one hit, no parking on the dance floor was a hit too

  • @LooyLeah freakazoid

  • some of those songs i don't remember but some of them i do.especially Patrick Swayze (r.i.p)and robert hugh i think it said.i could be mistaken though.

  • Thank heavens that Musical Youth only had one hit; looks like the dutchie got passed too far to the left and fell of the edge of the planet.

  • @MrGoblin60 My mom played that alot, i was like wats a DUTCHIE, she lied and said it was salt n pepper shaker...SMH

  • One Hit Wonders Paul Hardcastle (The 19 Legend) who ya kiddin

24 Albums - 15 chart singles, 3 top 20 tunes, in the dance and soul charts "rainforest" and "sound chaser" Wrote Top of the Pops (The Wizard) and Voyager for the BBC prog Holiday.

He remixed my fav tune ever - D Trains "Your'e the one for me"

2010's track "Touch and Go" reached #1 on the US Billboard Jazz chart, becoming his tenth number one on the Smooth Jazz chart.

Yep hes a real one hit wonder tell that to the record company

  • I think the biggest issue with this video is most American's think the world ends when you hit the ocean on their coastline. It's like baseball......YEYHAHHHH !!! we won the world series again !!!...shame no other country plays in the league. Im not anti American, but more than half of these " one hit wonders " had careers outside the US borders....one in particular, i went to a Models gig 2 weeks ago, and the Melbourne boys still rock hard.

  • Hahahaha! Tracy Ullman, birthplace of The Simpsons!

  • Hey!...The Firm had a couple hits...did they not?

  • everlasting love

  • incredible. I only remember 2 or 3 of these. Truly a lost decade of forgettable music.

  • can anyone tell me the name of the woman at 9.00 please

  • @c00g33beach a model named Marie Seznec

  • thank you! that was fun to watch and remember. :-)

  • nice job

  • Nice collection of videos. Tough call on the "One Hit Wonders" part, because many of these artists were part of really popular groups. The Firm was part of the power line up from Led Zeppelin, Jane Weidlin was part of the Go-Gos etc.

  • omg, dressing up in suits from the 1980's makes them look like they are looking for a job today

  • I was there...Where are the hits from the dancefloor...?

  • Hey, sa-fire, Bill Buckner called, he'd like his eyebrows back.

  • Ugh..some of these are horrendous. Thanks but many of these should stay forgotten.

  • The Firm had another #1 song in the States called "All the kings horses". Carlene Carter has a list of hits as long as your arm. Midnight Star isnt a one hit wonder. Jane Wiedlin also had "blue kiss" not to mention numerous hits as a member of the go gos.. this list sucks.

  • first of all,,,most of these songs weren't HITS,,,just wonders!! Second,,there were only what 5 black artists in all of the 80's??!!! and third,,..I assumed music bridged the color barrier,,,unless u r just completely racist and stupid but hey,, 2 each his own.

  • whats the song at 2:40 frrankie smith...

  • BLACK = PIG SHIT EVEN IN THE 1980s

good songs are kogis, charilie dore, and people who were white who sounded white.

  • @The096757 Black is the new white. You're trailer trash, get over it.

  • @dalotel

nigger and swine like you who lie with them are objects of scorn. they are hated now more than in the 1980s.

  • @dalotel

your old diseased mom can lick my asshole bitch.

  • @The096757 and most of y'all don't know how to dance............. anyway

  • everything is ok or good except the black songs which suck.

rachel sweet looks very jewess looking.

  • @The096757 what u mean the black songs? y'all the one who took from us slaved us but wanna be like us smdh

  • @maxday1000

you lost your mind nigger. almost tall the black songs suck especially musical youth who are ugly nigger freaks that are disgusting to look at.

the best songs are by white people who do not incorporate nigger blues. niggers never invented anything in music or anything else. niggers copied everything from whites especially electronic music.

  • @The096757 YEAH IF WE DID Y'ALL TOOK IT FROM US RIGHT SMDH AND ON TOP OF THAT WE BUILT THE WHITE HOUSE WITH SUM OF Y'ALL LAZY ASSES HUM/ SUM OF Y'ALL THE REASON WHY THE COUNTRY IN THE SHAPE ITS IN CUZ Y'ALL SUM GREEDY MFS AIN'T Y'ALL/ EVERY MONEY WE GET Y'ALL WANNA TAKE IT AND UNCLE SAM = THE WHITE MAN.............. GO READ YOUR HISTORY...........

  • @The096757 AND ELECTRONIC/ HOUSE/ TECH NO MUSIC STARED IN EUROPE WITH ALL THE GAYS LOL NOTHING AGAINST THEM THO...............

  • @The096757 AND U WANNA TALK ABOUT BLACKS WHEN EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND Y'ALL ALWAYS STEALING, KILLING Y'ALL FAMILY OVER GOING BROKE, DRINKING Y'ALL PROBLEMS AWAY, IN DEBT MORE THEN ANY/ ALWAYS HAVE TO FILE BANKRUPTCY EVERY YEAR.......... RIGHT Y'ALL WHITES ACT LIKE Y'ALL CANT LIVE WITHOUT ANYTHING/ Y'ALL BEEN SO USE OF GETTING EVERY DAM THING Y'ALL WANT AND DON'T EVEN NEED IT.......

  • @The096757 There is always a Racist Troll

  • @The096757 shut the fuck up you racist bitch-IDIOT!!!

  • think this is supposed to one hit wonders on the pop top 40 charts in america only

  • The Models were not one hit wonders either...

  • Saga is a one hit wonder?

  • baltimora and saphire have many good songs, many

  • No, no, no. Saphire have many good songs like "boy i ve been told" or "let m

    e be the one".

  • Blow monkeys have another best song called "It doesn't have to be this way"

  • neither tracy ullman or the blow monkeys were one hit wonders in england

  • Dude, not to be difficult, but you can't put Saga int his category whatsoever!. "Wind Him Up", "On The Loose", "Don't Be Late" etc. etc. This was a great band!

  • DISCULPAS,PERO ME PARECIO MUY DESPROLIJO DE ONDA LO DIGO.ABRAZO VJ....

  • The only one I disagree with is Utopia. I know you are talking about the 80's, but the group had a lot of success in the 70's. And you could have at least used video for Feet Don't Fail Me Now... :)

  • Paul McCartney wrote Tracy Ullman's Hit.

  • thanks to drugs i dont remember the 80's and thats a good thing

  • musica youth. wooo hoooo lol

  • wow jack wagner... wasn't he on general hospital???

  • @goddessdianamoon Oh yes! Yes he was... he was Frisco Jones!

And he had more than one hit... "Lady of My Life" was better than "All I need" by far. :)

  • I used to record Jack Wagner on my VCR every time he was on Solid Gold -- he was on quite a few times. I'd completely forgotten until I saw this.

  • had a friend named ted,and we teased him about the song "I wanna be a cowboy"

  • i remember 4:20

  • The Models were much more popular in Australia with several hits.

  • Strange but the only one i actually remember played on the radio and was a pretty good song back then was Jack Wagner, All I Need...is a little more time.

  • @musclecarluvr1 seriously?? double dutch bus was everywhere back in the days ;) and still a club song with the horn ;)

  • Never heard them and they suck!

  • I'm watching this with an alien and we are the reason why these are one hit wonders. Nice dial tones! See ya in 3xxx.

  • @TheHelixSpirit that doesn't make any sense and you fail.

  • Forgot how many songs I didn't want to remember.

  • uh some these were not actually hits.

  • Nice collection, but I would have to say that The Blow Monkeys (Out with Her, It Doesn't Have to Be this Way...) and Midnight Star (Body Snatchers, Freak-a-Zoid, No Parking on the Dancefloor...) are not one-hit wonders. :/

I'd forgotten about "Whirly Girl" by OXO. Nice to see that clip, and I'll look for the entire video.

  • Great job on this< EXCELLENT !

  • The best two are The Blow Monkeys and Double, 99% of the others I've never heard of and I thank God for that!

  • by the 80s i was listening to jazz at home and classic rock in the car...this video reminds me why...a fun blast from the past nonetheless...TY for the post!

  • 2:51 - Which Actress covered Frankie Smith's "Double Dutch Bus"? The Song appeared on College Road Trip as well as the soundtrack to the #1 film of the same name.

  • Funny trip down memory lane. I was a radio DJ in the eighties and I don't remember half these songs!

  • O J Jones is awesome. Well that one song is anyway :)

  • @rebbirob Yeah, he bought her things she couldn't even pronounce. LOL! Classic!

  • i wanted to puke

  • I really wouldn't consider The Firm a one hit wonder. They only released like 2 albums and most of their stuff was off of Paul Rodgers and Jimmy Page's solo albums. They were all successful musicians that got together to jam for a year.

  • Thanks for the upload. Next time somebody is talking about how today's music is all crap and music was much better 30 years ago, I'll show them this. Who would have thought that 10 minutes of pure crap could be so beautiful.

  • @LittleMissMiffy it was a different time back then, not all this rap crap.

  • @Navy6438 the song was heard in Tristar's 1989 romantic comedy starring Patrick Dempsey (Enchanted), Kirstie Alley (It Takes Two) and Carrie Fisher (Star Wars) and was directed by Joan Micklin Silver (Big Girls Don't Cry...They Get Even) as the title theme.

  • Made it trough to the end. Phew what an effort.

  • I only know Tarzanboy, Frank Stallone Paul Hardcastle's 19 and Double (Captain of the Heart) and I guess they were the only ones hugely popular in Europe. Baltimore's Tarzanboy was a huge disco hit in Central Europe while Paul Hardcastle sold like hot cakes in England. Other songs are so generic and forgettable...

  • Technically, Midnight Star is a "number" one hit wonder, but they have quite a few songs in the top ten such as "No Parking (On the Dance Floor)", "Freak-A-Zoid", "Wet My Whistle" and others. I wouldn't have included them on this list for those reasons.(imho)

  • 80s rule..............

  • wtf?

what about queen, rush, the who, level 42, oasis, shawn lane, china crisis, japan, etc etc

  • @cadrino20978 What the fuck are you talking about? "80's One Hit Wonders"! Thats the definition for the artists in this video.

  • @ucla4eva yeah but I think there is more better pepole than what were used in the video, see the examples I put down.

  • A few really bad songs, but mostly fine memories. I miss 80s music overall (except for the bag songs heh).

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but from 1980 to like 1987 there was nothing but one hit wonder's on the radio thing is thou I was also a kid back then and really enjoyed growing up in the era

  • SAGA was definitely not a one hit wonder. Who made this list?

  • Jane Wiedlin and Benjamin Orr don't truly belong on this list. While only having one hit soloing, they were members of two hugely successful groups.

  • One hit wonder classification isn't a matter of opinion. To put Utopia and the Firm into this category is atroscious and clearly shows the level of music appreciation expressed. Sorry I stopped at this sight

  • Its Racist !! the Black musicians are not getting enough time

  • @DoktorRick shhnigga

  • um Sa-Fire was not a one hit wonder sorry. Loved sa-fire and still do

  • Our chanel :)

  • Why can't the ones of you who feel the need to leave negative comments just leave the page instead...? I mean really. If you don't like the video/songs DON'T LISTEN TO THEM! It's that simple. And before you leave me a negative comment, here's the reply you'll get...."bite me." So don't waste your time. => BTW, Great video! =)

  • should mention these are one hit wonders...for WHITE PEOPLE> because eeryone else havent heard of these fuckers

  • @TikiShootah nah that ain't true, latin america including mexico know of these from the time the music released, japan was pretty informed of the music, my parents reguardless of not being white had BOXES of old 80's hits like these. when you say everyone else, its more likely meaning the future generations after the 80's.

  • @TikiShootah - Your stupidity is showing.

  • @90tortugas you must be contagious then

  • This is no one hit wonder..This is one shiT wonder..!!

  • Baltimora is not one hit wonder ex. JukeBox Boy ring a bell!

  • Ahhh...brings back memories on why I got into metal in the first place...lol. The 80's was bad enough the first time around. It's just embarrassing watching the re-runs.

  • Half that crap nobody has ever even heard of. And the Firm had more than one hit. A VERY popular cover of You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling. Not to mention Closer, and Satisfaction Guaranteed, which was arguably a bigger hit and better song than Radioactive. This video = worthless.

  • Midnight Star wasn't a one hit wonder - they had several hits. No Parking On the Dance Floor and Freakazoid stand out.

  • @chazalpha96 Thank you! Yeah, they were NOT one hit wonders! There was also "Wet My Whistle", "Night Rider", "Curious", "Don't Rock the Boat", "I've Been Watchin' You" and several other songs. Still rockin' Midnight Star's songs to this day!

  • Robert Tepper's "No Easy Way Out" is still a phenomenal song!

  • I'd forgotten about some of these -- i.e. Whirly Girl -- but I don'tremember others as ever being hits in the US at all. Watching a Rocky movie awhile back I was reminded what a good song "No Easy Way Out" was though. Great times in the 80s. I was a college freshman when Jack Wagners "All I Need" came out. Song got me laid a couple times. Thanks Jack!

  • BALTIMORA - TARZAN BOY!

  • @JOHNSderry YEAH! How can that man be so doggone PRETTY?

  • @bitzofdataz yeah ,i live in his hometown and really good freinds with his brother!

  • omg rex smith

    lol

  • 0:56 Me like Orrall.

  • Uh... Midnite Starr (AKA "Midnight Star") was not a "one-hit wonder" band. From the beginning of the 80's, Midnite Starr was on the R&B charts and had hits all throughout the 80's, finally fading out after the split in 1988. "Headlines" (1986) was their third gold album. You can find some of their videos here on YouTube, so I dunno why you figured them as a one-hit wonder.

  • The Firm...one hit wonders? What planet did you drop in from YESTERDAY?

  • @sithjedi71

How many hits did The Firm have? Not the individuals that made up The Firm, but the group of them billed as The Firm?

  • @younghoss All The Kings Horses, Satisfaction Guaranteed, Radioactive, Live In Peace...those were their most well known. I also like Money Can't Buy from their first album.

  • @sithjedi71

Here again, let's don't confuse what many might call "good songs" or even "great songs" with what most defined as "hits" back then. I Use U.S. billboard hot 100 to determine mainstream hits back then. I suspect the Original poster of these uses a similar guideline. I do see though, that "Satisfaction made #73 on Billboard hot 100, your other examples did not. Radioactive hit #28. I don't think of reaching #73 as a "hit" but let me add, I like that song a lot too!

  • @younghoss You seem to be the only confused one. I NEVER used the words great or good. I said most well known. You can use Billboard whatever. I know where I grew up they were on the radio alot, and were very popular. To say that they were a one hit wonder is BS. That was my point.

  • Are they HIGH? Paul AHardcastle? Saga? The FIRM? Jane Wiedlin? Calling The Firm a 1-hit-wonder is to make an obstuse mockery of rock history. Jane Wiedlin was in the Go-Gos! Saga was HUGE in the 80s! And Paul Hardcastle? Read this from wikipedia:

..He won the Billboard Smooth Jazz Artist Of The Year award in 2008.

Jazzmasters VI track "Touch and Go"... reached #1 on the US Billboard Jazz songs chart, becoming his tenth number one on the Smooth Jazz chart..

    I'm no Jazz fan but..

  • @sonofthe80s

I think by "one-hit wonders" they mean just as billed. Sure Wiedlin has a bunch of hits with Go-Gos, but only Rush Hour by herself.

Saga had one huge mainstream hit, "On the Loose". The follow-up "Wind him up" was a great song imo, but it wasn't as big a hit song.

  • I feel like a douche for saying this but I had no idea 'everybody's gotta learn sometime' was a cover. I thought it was Beck's :O

  • Actually MANY of these songs were never hits at all. Others were more than one hit wonders.

  • Amazing how you can hear a song you've never heard, but you know exactly what decade it was in by its "sound". Anyway, how about "Puttin' On the Ritz" by Taco Okerse? Play that while I'm training my horses. Makes their mistakes seem a lot more funny than frustrating ;-)

  • Midnight Starr?? They have dozens of hits! Operator, the song in this video wasn't even their biggest hit. Slow Jam is a legendary R & B ballad that is always in the conversation about greatest R & B ballads.

  • Patrick Swayze, lindoooooooo!!! Miss you!!!

  • This vid was a total bust. A Lot of mistakes. Midnight star? One hit wonder? They had several hits.Patrick Swayze? Sure in music but I believe one hit wonders are artist who make one hit and disappear.

  • ya plus you got jane weidlin (the go go's) and benjamin orr (the cars) solo stuff as one hit wonders ya those bands were kinda big in the 80's last time i checked

  • @kowoh

Last time I checked, the Go-gos had plenty of hits. Very successful band! But Jane Wiedlin had only one hit while billed as a solo, that was "Rush Hour". See the difference?

  • sorry but i disqualify the firm because when one of your members was in led zepplin i think he qualifies as already famous

  • Saga????? They've had more than one hit!

  • Midnight Star had several hits.... *shrugs*

  • @757ajizzle ya we know. I and others have been telling the person that posted this video this a million times

  • Some of these songs weren't even hits.

  • Safire... one hit wonder?!?

  • saga is a one hit wonder? tff ,obviously, you have not heard much of their material. You do know that saga used to open for a band called Rush ? Saga had to leave Canada to make it big , they eventually found a home in europe. I happen to have 4 of their albums. They certainly had better songs than a band like boston ever had .

  • Wow! many flashbacks here...especially that Jane Wiedlin....wow probably havent seen that since I was 10 years old or something. Gonna search for the full vid.

  • so many GREAT 1- hit wonders.what a waste they didn't go farther.

  • 9:24 You guessed it - Frank Stallone.

  • I love Tracy Ulman!

  • wait wait wait Midnight Starr were one hit wonders NOT...Midas Touch was HUGE in 1986

  • i'm forever in love with 80's music

  • miss the 80s

  • 9:01 hot hot hot

  • son of a.....i meant to write wow a video for world partys ship of fools. my life is now complete. ah forget it, i ruined the moment.

  • wow, a video for world partys' ship of fp

  • megan was here

  • Sa-Fire went on and made a few other freestyle songs that are still played at dance clubs.

  • Never heard some of these.

  • How about the other actors besides Swayze and Jack? Don Johnson's "Heartbeat", Eddie Murphy's "Party All the Time", Bruce Willis's "Respect Yourself", John Schneider's "It's Now Or Never", Gloria Loring and Carl Anderson's "Friends And Lovers".

  • Models were huge and had a lot of hits. Great memories though =O)

  • Who sings the first song? I can't seem to find it!

  • how da hell is Saga a 1 hit wonder?

  • The 1980's ROCKED.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Great set, but Utopia doesn't fall under the "one hit wonder" category. "Feet Don't Fail" me now was likely their only song that got any real airplay, but they had a rabid cult following.

One Hit Wonders, by definition, fade completely away after that one song. Rundgren's Utopia did not fade away that quickly.

  • WTF? The Firm was not a "one-hit wonder." The Firm was a "two-hit wonder." I take it you've never heard the song "Satisfaction Guaranteed."

  • @rpmangin Not to mention "All the King's Horses" and "Live In Peace"

  • The Blow Monkeys? What a horrible name!

  • SA-fire was not a one hit wounder

  • @FunkMasterRio no they were not they put out music before and after this they were around for at least a decade or better.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • some memorable songs here!

  • Was that Lou Diamond Phillips at 1:45? Patrick Swayzee.. how sad. Some are from other bands like The Cars, Bad Company & The Gogos trying to make it on their own.

  • Comment removed

  • 1.34 Is that Doctor Who. lol

  • Midnight Star might have been a 1 Hit Wonder on the pop charts, but they kicked ass on the R&B charts.

  • Funny how there are so many "one-hit-wonders" in the 80's, when they usually have MANY great songs under their belt...I guess because back in the 80's people were more critical, and there was a lot of competition...plus it was the Madonna and Michael Jackson era.

Now look at today's singers who are topping the iTunes charts for the 2nd or 3rd time already...seriously, do they REALLY deserve to be up there again?

Parents need to stop giving their children iTunes giftcards.
