  • holy crap

  • ah. that's great and reassuring to know! I'll check out the forum. thank you for your quick response and commitment to those in need!

  • I've heard doing this is super hard on your shoulders, but I feel like it is a great exercise. If there is a risk, is there any way you could suggest lowering the it/ preventing injury? Thanks!

  • I use this exercise specifically to PREVENT shoulder issues. You must however train the element correctly and progressively. Detailed information on Side Lever Pulls is available on the Gymnastic Bodies forum.

  • Wow

  • Holy cow! He made that look so easy! I can't imagine how much strength it took. Props to this kid!

  • TANK

  • holly crap this kid is jacked

  • ohhhh so thats what those are for i saw them at my school gym i thought its for some sort of climbing sport

  • absolutely fucking incredible... seriously - i can baaaaaaarely even keep myself in a flag position for more than 2 seconds or so

  • how can i train to do that

  • I can do dat

  • They're so serious ALL the time... Do they even enjoy what they do? When I accomplish something I'm always super happy.

  • @oop1127 probably because when they accomplish something like this (amazing to you and me) to them it's just a small step closer to their ultimate goal.

  • @86mhassani Nah... You should enjoy every step. The journey is more important than the ultimate goal. You have to enjoy the steps it takes to get to your goal (:

Plus this isn't amazing to me, hehe.

  • holy fuck. O:

  • hey coach any suggestions on how to build upper body strength?

  • Granted... the same theory applies to lifting one's own body weight. For what someone say 135lbs can do, one who weighs more because of a bigger frame is lifting more. But to each their own strength. Where the 135lbs can do, well this exercise, which I can say is the pillar of impressive, I doubt he would do what another with a larger frame and weight could do, like deadlift a car.

  • love the human flag. took me like a year to master a 1-second hold, but it was worth it. now i can hold my body straight out for about 5-6 seconds. i actually bought a x-pole from ebay to practise on (a stripping pole) :p

  • I wouldnt know the hardest conditioning but for the best i would say planches, L-sits,v-sits, straddle presses, and leg raises if you work on those your strength will increase greatly.

  • Im 148lbs, this shyte is hard to do when u weigh tht...I cant imagine how hard it is for some1 30lbs heavier...

  • What are you, retarded? The small kid has small muscles. Power to weight ratio is the only accurate way to measure a person's strength. By your logic the kid should be able to do about 1000 push ups because he's so small right? And someone half his weight should be able to do 2000? It's asinine comments like yours that make me question the relative intelligence of humanity.

  • What do they feed these kids?!!!

I can only wish to be half as strong as them!

  • holy that was amazing.

  • WTF!?!?! amazing

  • as soon as the video started I gave it 5 stars!!

  • hM AMAZING.

  • woooooow thats insane

  • you can start gymnastics at 24 and still be great you just have to have alot of discipline. but exercises like those are usually for gymnists under 160 pounds. There are better conditioned and stronger gymnists at 180 pounds who can do exercises like those but it takes a while. it is definetly an advanced exercise though.

  • @mois2202 REALLY!?!?! at the age of 24!?! Thats crazy cool! Cause most of my friends are gymnast and they say its almost impossible.

  • @mitch1400 it sounds like your friends are cocky over competitive gymnasts who over dramatize the art of using your body. If you work hard it shows. I know guys who have only been doing flips for a year and they can already do doubles.

  • Advanced !? The word extreme fits more....

By the way, what conditioning exercise is the hardest in gymnastics ?

  • Looks like a great exercise! Every town should have a bunch of halls with equipent like you've got. You can't build overall body strength and control like these gymansts without equipment like you've got. If I had another life I'd start doing gymnastic exercises like these from early on.

I guess it's not too late, I'm only 22? What do you say, coach?

  • WOAHH GOOD JOB DUDE U ROCK PEACE OUT IM A GYMNAST I LOVE GYMNASTICS WELL peace out dude may meeeannn

  • lol you are blasphemous like an italian ahahahahah!

  • Takes ABS OF STEEL/ STRONG CORE to do that

    great job kid!!!

  • And strong lats!

  • Hey coach. Awesome video. Can you tell me what those wall-mounted bars are called? I wanted to order one for my backyard so I can start training. Thanks much

  • These are called "stall bars" and were once a common piece of equipment in all gyms. Over the years I have found them to be indispensable in the physical preparation of my athletes.

  • I give him 11 years old AND HE CAN DO THIS !!!! *_* FUUUUUCCCKKKK MAAANNN GOOD WOORK BUDDY !!!

  • just amazing simply amazing its mind blowing for now... now people think this is amazing and the reason i said for now is because once u get to the point that ure able to do it, it dosnt feel amazing u feel like its normal but for now i find this extremly impressive and i wish to death to become like this all u gotta have is determination for example bruce lee greatest martial arts to live and was decades ahead of time in his martial arts compared to others including his fitness

  • In the upper right of this page is an orange subscribe button. Down and slightly to the left of the subscribe button is a blue link that says (more info). Click on this, then scroll down and click on the first link. This will take you to a training article for developing the side lever and side lever pulls.

  • Coach Somers: You should take Alan to the doctor because he is totally sick!!!! Good luck in the future!!

  • ya he won J.O. Nationals on Parallel bars this year, ya hope that kid has a love of the sport.
