people are so stupid i live in a town where evreyone that wants to go to vegas has to pass through and when we do get vehicle fires on the freeway people are so impatient they actually run past us almost hitting us and getting a good wiff of smoke.

also there was a fire at a fast foor joint one time and the people actually got mad at us for not letting them in because they wanted to eat.

One time at a 3rd alarm in Flushing, an asshole thought he would show off to his friends by trying to punch a lone fireman manning a distant hose.

I jumped 2 stories down to kick his ass, he ran like a coward. His friends almost got me.

Cops never got out of the car except to chase me later.

Actually I was a still guy for 20 years for the newspapers and wrote the bible for assignment desk editors (in regards to scanner radios and frequencys) after retiring because of NYPD interference.

RadioReporter was the name of the book I wrote. I have many pictures from 1981 to 2001.

If I am observing a scene, I stay way out of harm's way because I know someone (like me), curious and distracted, may veer off their proper path.

That EMS person deserves some blame for not looking.

Yes it's true about looking. I always do whenever I step into the street because there are cars here.

I've blocked the street at scenes many times because the cops either don't show up or when they do are too stupid to do a proper job and take care of traffic.

Thats one of the most dangerous parts of working a scene. We call them rubber neckers. They try to see something and then get someone hurt. I always shut down the street if at all possible.
