  • One of the best drummers ever.

  • I think the secret of his success is to wear that diver suit...

  • No top comment about that sick fill on 2:58 ?!

  • jesus christ, can i get face any closer to dam screen!

  • 13 people thought the dislike button was a "download right now" button

  • Dave Matthews Band is awesome.

  • Carter is one of the best, but this video is not. Get it synced up!!

  • @HunterDT it is synced up, ur eyes are just not fast enough to comprehend the amazingness

  • My God, fuckin' open-handed! I'm not alone in this universe! Better, this God is prettu close to God.

  • even though im a beginner, i feel i want to play open handed very badly, should i just stay with cross over or should i struggle through it now ?

  • @herbandsarah i cant hurt to try! how i started was when i was on the ride i started to use my left hand to accent the hi hat. and the more control with my left i just started to become natural to play with my left or right now im prob better with my left then my right

  • Tight!

  • Sometimes when you watch things like this you think to yourself, "I'll just never be as cool."

    Acceptance is the first step.

  • Carters so awsome to bad he uses his left hand for hihat what a chump but he's just so good

  • man when I first sterted drumming i use to watch this video non-stop... Great drumming

  • dudes got swagger for days, hes a swagger hound

  • 13 IDIOTS

  • rather it is to play real drums

  • 13 people fail at life majorly

  • The drums in this song were one of the first times in my life i ever remember noticing drums. I wasn't allowed to listen to DMB and had to borrow Crash from my friend on my bus...41 is the only song i listened to every time i touched the cd. Still makes me think of 1996/97.

  • TRAVIS BARKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this isnt a solo fool? this is #41

  • sure as hell beats cobus

  • Carter Beauford. Master of off beat accents and auxiliary

  • 2:58 this one hand roll is insane!

  • @Wassim1114 and dude think of it. he did that with his right hand and hes a left hand drummer. that takes talent.

  • The intro is so tight and sexy.

  • So tight

  • So clean...so good...

  • Did anyone see that stick flip at 3:46? That was classy. I love this guy.

  • man i wish i coould as ambidextrous as him (sorry if i spelled that wrong)

  • I don't think he used the hi hats enough lol

  • Carter has made a couple instructional videos. Under the table & drumming is one, and Making Music is another he made with bassist Victor Wooten.

    & I think it's a thermal, not a wetsuit :)

  • Maybe I should wear a wetsuit while playing to be as great as Carter :)

  • does an1 knows if the man has made an instructional video?

  • @nadir6661 watch his video called "hi hat approach." He's combining rudiments from a few different genres...mostly jazz funk.

  • exellent!

  • That open-handed approach is just mind-boggling

  • Travis barker and Joey Jordison are way better than this dude... jk, Carter is an amazing drummer !

  • @ musicrevelation it's called, Song 41.

  • I love how every carter beauford video is labeled as a solo even though they're just his songs

(albeit maybe he added to them for this video)

it just says something about how uniquely he plays. the entire song seems like a solo, but it still flows with the music. really talented guy

  • @deathofall1052 Awesome analysis.

  • i bet if buddy rich were alive, he would want to play right next to carter...the two best drummers of all time, playing right there with each other...wow

  • those hi hats sounds amazing. what is he using.

  • at 5:08 you can all of a sudden hear his ride

  • travis is a good drummer but carter is better hands down

  • Tony royster jr thats all I have 2 say

  • @123thewitness Yes his grat, but he has different style.

  • temassoooooooooo!!

  • stick twirl at 3:45 ... =O

  • travis barker is by no means a pushover but he isn't even on the same planet as carter beauford

  • 12 people have cerebal palsy and hit dislike by mistake

  • nice

  • I think I've got malaria now because this was too sick!

  • Anyone else notice the tracks hes playing over in these videos sound different than the original studio versions? Maybe just because the drum tracks are removed?

  • Hes to fast for the camera..... lol

  • Fucking awesome

  • EPIC!

  • I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Tony Royster Jr is right up there with Carter Beauford. Tony Royster Jr could easily be the best drummer ever since he's still in his mid twenties. The only thing keeping him back is he's never played with a decent band. Tony Royster Jr is a legend though. Even at 12 years old he was one of the best in the world. Check him out if you haven't already. Get your mind blown!

  • i seen this video 4 years ago on youtube and glad to see its still up.had good times back then and on that day.

  • How?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Carter Beauford has played (for ENTERTAINMENT) for the President of the United States. He has topped most drummers. I stress entertainment because some fucking triangle player in a drumline is going to say that he played in the marine corps band or something. This man's drumming was summoned for one of the most powerful men in the world. This dude is and ambidextrous professional freak of nature......absolute talent right here.

  • Does dave matthew's know that he wouldn't be as awesome if it wasn't for carter?

    I hope he does :P

Dave matthew's is still a fucking legend, no paying out intended.

  • @hobeybennett i slightly agree but dave is a fucking legend...so u saved urself

  • 3:47 !

  • very nice. i bet that felt great playing.

  • This sucks ass. This gives any new drummer confusion, it basically says, hey break the rules with right and left hands, but hey, if you are a fat gum chewing nigger, play like a reversed retard and let the people buy it, Carter, please play something new, you are boring

  • @Libsdontcareee I can't even begin to respond to this comment and how stupid it is. Carter is one the most amazing modern drummers of our time because he breaks the rules. He's one of the most revolutionary drummers of our time, and just because you can't follow his beats doesn't mean he's a bad drummer. Have you ever seen his two step solo might want to check that out before you go off and say shit like he's boring because there a plenty of dmb fans that will back me up on this one.

  • @Libsdontcareee Carters this and Carters that. Not only does the man have talent. He's financially secure, so are his children along with his childrens childrens children.

And you? Probably still flippin' burgers at Micky D's

I'd say he's accomplished more that you ever will. Kinda makes you less than, dont you think?

  • @Libsdontcareee Fail. Just Fail. I bet you are a new drummer, because you are too stupid that its called OPEN HAND! Kill yourself and mail me your drums.

  • @Libsdontcareee what's with the aggression? are you just jealous that this man is one of the best drummers in existence and you're once of the biggest losers on this planet?

  • @Libsdontcareee

    Fuck you asshole!!!!!

  • @Libsdontcareee fuck you. He is a god of drumming. He does something new every time, you just have no sense of style and can't see that. fuck off

  • @Libsdontcareee there are no rules for playing music moron. Carter and Dennis Chambers (another fat gum chewer) are two of the best drummers around. Only someone who is completely in the dark about music and drums would think they are bad. Watch Terry Bozzio. Possibly one of the best drummers ever and he breaks pretty much every "rule"

  • @Libsdontcareee yeah i also can't even describe how unbelievably stupid you sound right now, like i can't even process my thoughts into words right now to reply to your comment, i just had to say something

  • @Libsdontcareee What you've basically said is, "I'm a narrow-minded dick who has no idea what he's talking about."

  • @Libsdontcareee what the fuck is wrong with you? there arent any rules for music you dipshit...thats what makes music and especially drumming so unque. suck a dick you mind-fucked racist bastard. i bet ur birth certificate was an apology from a condom factory, you fuck-up waste of jizz

  • @Libsdontcareee

Wow, what an incredibly ignorant comment. Every experienced drummer knows that a) some people learn to play open handed, and there is no rule to the contrary. In fact, it frees up your hands for more movement. And b) any drummer worth his salt can play both open handed and close handed with at least some degree of competence. Carter happens to play amazingly open handed.

Carter inspired me to play open handed and it was one of the best choices I ever made about my instrument.

  • @colourfulwithaU its also what happens when a left handed person learns to play on a righty kit. thats what happend to me. it gives you a distict fill sound

  • for some reason dave matthews reminds me of forrest gump

  • @ben2nd Maybe cause of that House episode he was on?

  • at 3:47 carter felt that he had too much time in between beats so he threw and flipped one of his drum sticks.

  • This guy makes the simplest beat sound incredible. His finesse is equivalent to no other.

  • i know nothing about drumming and i know that this guy is incredible

  • I like Travis Barker, but his sticking is not in the same dimension as Carter's sticking ability is. just listen to the sticking he uses on the high hat. Show me a video of Travis playing open-handed with the same sticking ability and i'll then agree.

  • 11 people need to buy a new pair of ears.

  • @rickdafrog now 13

  • Just pure groove, a real enjoyment to watch . I love his playing.

  • how do i do that? at 2 58?

  • I guess nobody knows who Neil Peart is on here.

  • @schecterblackjack i know and love neil too.....very good drummer and guy.

  • @schecterblackjack

Neil Peart has ZERO funk. These two are not comparable.

  • @TheLastPictureShow what are you talking about...of course peart has funk, he just uses it in different ways

  • Great player but I still like Dennis Chambers better

  • I'm a female drummer, and the best drummer I've ever known is CARTER BEAUFORD without a doubt!!!

  • The worlds most PERFECT drummer. nothing else to say.

  • HOLY SHIT AT 3:47 HE FLIPS HIS DRUM STICK LIKE A PRO!

  • @TpSLAPADAbass FUCK!

  • DMB Rules! Carter is the best I ever heard!

  • he is hands down the best

  • @TheGibbySG i went to the same show at JPJ

  • Nice smooth 1 handed role at 2:46

  • I have seen the DMB in March, he is incredible....

  • From 6:10 on. Lord, have mercy

  • Carter is the shit. He is simply incredible. And no recognition aside from DMB fans. Saw them last night at JPJ at UVA. Crazy show.

DMB is probably the best band out now.

  • Saw him live last night. One of the best solos i have ever seen. DMB4Life

  • Why does everyone have to mention Travis Barker on every fucking decent drumming video. Im sick of his name being mentioned!

  • @paradeproductions

What is Travis Barker? Is it a drummers' mascot? I'm sure it's not a drummer worth mentioning or knowing about. Sadly, stupid little teenage girls often see a guy beating on drums and if they like him, they think he's a good drummer. Travis Barker is a lame joke, not a musician.

  • @gormarx He's actually better than most of the drummers that play in that genre and many that are in the bands that are selling the most records these days, he's obviously nothing special, but he is good...just not great, fantastic, or worth mentioning on the lists of greatest drummers ever.

  • @paradeproductions yea well now because of u his name will be at the top of the fucking comment list for a very long time. good job retard

  • @paradeproductions I totally agree with you, every drum video I watch Travis is mentioned. Travis is a really good drummer and he is my inspiration to begin playing the drums but seriously you don't need to mention him in EVERY single video. His drumstyle is way different from Carter Beauford so why even mention him ?

  • @paradeproductions Only cool thing Travis did was survive a plane crash.

  • @paradeproductions I agree! He who you speak of isn't even worth mentioning. All the naive young kids think he is great because they are too wet behind the ears to have ever heard real talent. Pop music = popular music quite the contrary to talented music.

  • @paradeproductions Carter Beauford would run circles around Travis Barker.

  • @paradeproductions

Agreed, like he's the only drummer around. There's better out there people.

  • @paradeproductions couldnt agree more.

  • Perfect Reggae effects and nice groove on the bass drum

  • Most unique drummer ever!

  • this video is bossy

  • dude he sucks

  • nice sound!!

  • ZZZZZZZZ.....ZZZZZZZZZZZ.... boring!!!!

  • es el mejor jazzero del mundo !!!

  • I never get sick of watching this.. I have his drumming tutorial video.. he is an amazing drummer.. so much talent..

  • does anybody know the name of this song?

  • @MATTlovesDRUMS it is called #41

  • @boopsie18 thanks, dude :)

  • what's the name of this song?

  • @onlyifnowwasthen the name of the song is just #41

  • Comment removed

  • keep loving his playing, his coordination is so insanely good, he looks like a lefty completely mastering the right handed drumkit.

  • I've never heard anyone say anything bad or negative about him. He may be under appreciated but certainly not underrated.

  • Underrated? Maybe.

He's style is left brained and a lot of that is voiced in his playing, maybe too much so.

  • best groove

  • awesome shit @5:44 he made those hi hats sizzle nicely.

  • Comment removed

  • As a drum student, i know that carter did not master certain techniques!

this vid was in the 90s, i dont no what he can do now..he's not the best, yet he was a good student of this genre!

  • @not25yet Stick to the classes, I'm a percussion instructor, there is no "perfect technique" on the kit. what he did in the past and now is still more innovative than almost any drummer out there. I'm not down-talking you in any way, but Carter is definitely someone that we can all learn from.

  • Basic techniques... drum rudiments take u further!

  • @not25yet The title of this video is misleading, its just a DMB song. for a better drum song watch the drum video for Tripping Billies. Believe me, he's an amazing drummer

  • @pscoggs i didn't say he wasn't good! He has skills. People tend to rate drummers if they are fond of the genre they performed in.

  • i love the way he ends it

  • he's just THE BEST!!! a quien chingados no le gusto el video???

  • ambidextrous drummer ftw!

  • DIOS!!!.....Drumming is all about the soul and self expresion....this kind of strong conection betwen the mind and heart that envolves everything in human be!!!Carter ....Monstruo de la expresion....Saludos desde Colombia...

  • I think Carter is a jazz drummer in a band with a jazzy feel. Because Jazz isn't mainstream anymore the skill and quality of sound is not as common. I'm glad that the spotlight view of the band he plays in is starting to bring back quality drumming as an expectation.

  • @deepdwn8 /clap :D beautiful opinion!

  • Wow!!!

  • is that a drum SOLO? =S

  • @kaifas what you think of drum solo full of rolling?? BETTER LISTEN TO PARAMORE AND WATCH TWILIGHT WITH YOUR GAY FRIENDS masturbating u lol

  • he is definantly my favorite pro drummer people should definantly give him more credit

  • When I listen to Dave Matthews Band, the feeling I get is something I imagine feeling in Heaven... I can't imagine a life without music like this. There is so much more to music than listening to it to pass time... There truly is soul in music like this... There is heart. Passion... A need to just make life a little less hard on one's self... And when I hear a Dave Matthew's song, I forget everything wrong in my life, and everything is perfect...

  • @NoobTubre

i heard that....thats one of the best descriptions of the essence of music that ive ever heard...or read i suppose.....plus that would be a cool quote to put on a tombstone

  • @blooberflat22 Definitely would! :)

  • he is soooo amazing!

  • Carter is my second favorite drummer.. next to Jimmy Chamberlin.

  • What the fuck happened at 3:48? Did his stick transcend time and space and land back in his hand in time for the beat?

There's no way a normal person could flip their stick that quick...

  • soo tight !!! song name ?

  • Check out my version of Tripping billies on drums! i think it does him justice!

  • me encanta..!!

  • it's a not wetsuit, it's under armor haha. and also he's not an underrated drummer. Everybody who know's of DMB know's that he is a crazy good drummer

  • @mattadam12 true but you never see him on "greatest drummer lists"

  • @800adam008 sure u do, mayb not on the best drummers EVER, but he's def on most peoples top drummers list

  • @800adam008 nd alsoDMB is listed as one of the top bands, that makes him close to being one of the top drumers for some people, i'm not saying that best bands hav the best drummers, but in order for him to b DMB's drummer, he needs to b rly fuckin good nd people kno that he is one of the best

  • @mattadam12 yeah but still, all i'm saying is that he is definitely 100% underrated, if he wasn't he'd be at the top of all the lists and shit

  • this is trippin billies not a solo but still carter well played good sir

  • Great drummer indeed, although i gotta ask, why is he wearing a wetsuit?

  • perfect

  • the only reason i can listen to dmb other than like 13 or 14 songs(which is a ridiculously small amount when talking about dave matthews) is this guy. hes sooooo clean. i envy the hell out of him.

  • Lord have mercy on the person(s) responsible for setting up Carter's kit.

  • God damn his hands are vicious, he could probably karate chop a motherfucker in half.

  • who wears a mustache better? other than my dad? dave's success depends on carter's beats - and ghost notes

  • he just makes it look so easy

  • that little triplet on the bass drum before the main groove kicks in sounds so good

  • #41

  • Is it just me, or is Carter Beauford fucking incredible?

  • I ve never seen Beauford playing on video but while listening songs he played I KNEW he plays open handed. He's fuckin incredible just like asiangil...said.

  • @AsianGilcrest3165 Trust me, it's not just you.

  • this guy is awsome, nice job man
