  • I just love the final chord he plays at the end (end of "Jack Fig" if I'm right).

As a "kottkist", I need to get that DVD ! (¦D

  • I could never get enough of him.

  • all of that basement stuff was hilarious

  • After watching this, I bought the DVD. Well worth having. I had rented the original VHS version many years ago.

  • I saw this on public television many years ago, and it changed my perception of what an acoustic guitar was capable of. The man is ridiculously talented.

  • What is the first song that he's playing?

  • @Tman4000 Its either the Mozart piece ing the guitar shop or Taxco Steps.

  • This tape is wonderful tape.

  • God taps his foot...and the Angels dance when Leo plays...

  • Yup. One bad MoFo.

    Man...

  • its good bro

  • Thank God for Leo.

  • "It's no longer a twelve string, now a ten-string... to fit into a normal case?" i mean c'mon Leo Kottke is and will always be a guitar god.The guy made the best steel-string records on planet...and today steel string players are just too far away from Leo's and Fahey's spirit.Just play faster and fancier and faster and faster with no meaning.......

  • Poor guitar talk about a guitar with nine lives.

  • the good old gaffer tape. life saving stuff. never to be underestimated :)

  • great!! check out bjorn berge aswell..

  • he never got the cred he deserved, and i just now have discovered him, hes really good

  • What's the classical piece at the beginning?

  • Rondo (3rd movement from the Sonata Facile in C, K. 545) by Mozart.

  • NOBODY comes close to this guy, alive or dead !!

  • Ah Leo. Seen him 17 times live. First time I've visited him here.

    Local boy done good.

One of the greats. So simple, so pure.

    No gimicks. Just finger-lickin finger-pickin'

  • Whats the song called from 0:58 to 1:17. Some of the lyrics are as follows 'The sun comes up across the city, I swear youve never looked so young and pretty, hand in hand we'll stand upon the sand .....' Wonderful song, if anyone who knows it could let me know what its called id be much obliged.

  • Yeah its called "Rings"

  • Great thnx a bunch m8

  • I respect this man very much

  • Wonder why he put all that work into busted up 12-string. Maybe he ain't rich, but I'm sure he could afford another one.

  • Sometimes it becomes an obsession: "I'm gonna make this f**king thing play right, or else!". Maybe you have to be a guitarist to get it. I once put $60 tuning machines on a $120 Strat copy because I was DETERMINED to make the damn thing work correctly!

  • wonderful tape.. lol! I literally burst out laughing when I saw that.

  • leo may look like like a geek and have a not good voice but he sure as heck can play

  • I will tell you something people i define GENIUS as someone who paves a path never tread before and believe me KOTTKE has walked down one of those paths noone sounds like this i dont have to mention he's incredible ability lets just say he was touched by god mind you he must haved practiced like a demon to become this proficent.

  • jesus is there anyone who plays 12 string as freely

  • Not really.

  • Du bist uber alles. ein franzkopf

  • YAY! Leo warbles! beauty-fully!

  • "wonderful tape"

  • I'm a way better guitar player than Leo Kottke.

  • oh really...

  • That was meant as kind of a weird joke. Is it even possible to be better than Kottke?

  • Never, of course! :-) We're the best. Well, actually, it's more like choosing the best cheese. Kinda subjective..

  • hls very good

  • Oh, Leo...I've had a mad crush on him since I was 15 and heard "Vaseline Machine Gun" for the first time. I'm 52 now, and I've still got a mad crush on him.

  • "this tape......is wonderful tape"...lol

  • is home and away really being shown in the states? thats cool! america can see how cheesy our soapies are!

  • have you seen them fall?

  • Smiled at all this, Leo and his guitar dramas,. hi, wev'e all had those, those of us who dared pick them up in the first place!...

  • "the sun comes up across the city..." whats the name of that song?

  • the title is "RINGS"

  • yeah him and mike gordon do a nice version of it also.

  • dude is rad

  • man, gotta get this DVD

  • Amazon's got it but support your local independents and buy local. . . they can order it.

  • In Serbia? Very funny.

  • Is his thumb is Double jointed?

  • I don't know about that, but I do know that his technique at that time resulted in severe hand problems which stopped him playing for years. He had to relearn with a different technique. I saw him in Brighton (UK)about 1987 and he was back on top form.

  • Leo Kottke rules.

  • I just meant concerts of Kottke

  • This tape... is wonderful tape...

  • His wit and dry humor made this for me. That and the little ol guitar thang! I was lucky enough to record this in full when it was on PBS in 86? He did Austin City limits too around the same time and I got that. Been a fan since 1970! Great post. Thanks

  • The new DVD version has almost double the performances- check it out at www.reconstructedarts.com

  • goog

  • Saw him Saturday night 5/13/06 in Sacramento. What an entertainer/musician/surrealistic thinker! This DVD is gonna be great

  • now THAT is a musician. great stuff, wanna get the DVD

  • Just got the DVD and it is amazing. Me and my wife have already watched it about 5 times. Really enjoyable.
