I much prefer "then" to "now," when people were more polite, classy and civilized. However ...
Sometimes it comes off as somewhat phony. John Daly always seems to praise the mystery guest to the skies, no matter who they are. It was part of the routine. This one seems a little over the top. Why didn't he just tell her she was the greatest person who ever lived and get it over with?
Not sure about in the United States but I can think of presenters in the UK who are exactly the same as that these days, but they can also be rude, patronising and arrogant with it. I'd rather this than most modern shows / hosts personally even though I agree with you to an extent. I find that the modern hosts are so full of it.
There are not a lot of modern actresses who have the elegance of this lady, she is lovely!!
I saw her on a program about MGM and she said, "I wasn't a big star. Hedy Lamarr was a big star." But I think she got it backwards. She was enormously popular..
she is just so cute! I love how reacts when she is asked if she's a man, and then that little laugh of defeat when she's asked if she's married to Dick Powell. what a lady!
I love watching her in Little Women (1949) and Janet Leigh.

June Allyson could have lived to be 120 years old and she would have died too young.

When Miss Allyson mentioned "Channel 2" showing her anthology show at 3:20, she was referring to CBS's New York flagship WCBS-TV.
