2:08 Thats a ROTOR bunker, theres one not all that far from me at Langtoft, thought its partly destroyed/dismantled. Ive been to the one at RAF Holmpton, also open to the public, and allegedly was installed with and additional 4th floor used for some sort of electronic warfare unit. Holmpton was the last place in the UK that ROC staff manned.
A thermonuclear bomb hitting Central London would destroy reinforced concrete structures 8 miles away? It would have to be a fairly high yield bomb to do that.
It's good to see Robert Urquhart, the actor in the civil defence films. He was excellent with John Mils in "Dunkirk". I don't think much ol the script he's reading. I never did like horror movies.
@darpachief Actually that's pretty good advice. If you were far enough away from the blast not to be vapourised it would protect you from the worst of the heat flash and blast wave.

Well the Soviets did build the 50 megaton Tsar Bomba, which could be uprated to 100 megatons with a cobalt jacket.

It's terrifying what the state is willing to do to it's own people when it feels threatened.
If something like this happened the political class would either use us as slave labour or just leave us to die.
