Although I appreciate the enterprise of his skills and technique, I can't help but remark that his parents, (now following a steroetype), are Korean, and probably made his fingers bleed night on end to attain this database of skill at such a young age.

Did it ever cross your mind that he might enjoy playing guitar? I would love to be able to play like that, and would spend countless days of bleeding fingers to achieve that skill.

But instead of forcing a stereotype on this, did you ever think that his parents are just encouraging him to explore music and to expose him to different skills and techniques and let him learn it on his own?

He may enjoy playing guitar more than his parents enjoy watching it.

1 thing to consider is an american parent has more incentive to enforce guitar practice. korean mainstream showbiz is manufactured pop idols, no emphasis on tech skills/instruments. even as classical guitarist his audience is small. his living has to be abroad. a Korean parent is more likely to view guitar skills interfering with all-important cramming for prestigious university/jobs. he is in fact pursuing the less traveled road.

You are absolutely correct. Korean parents don't have too much respect for the guitar. They think it's all rock and bad boy stuff. Parents are much more likely to force their kids to play the piano or violin, as these are viewed as much more respectable instruments.

He's doin' it because he lovin' it. One of his friends from fingerstyle online club posted comments here that he voluntary taking classical music class even though his parents and teacher worried that he would get bored of it. Sungha said he still want to do it anyway coz he wants to play better. Just WOW..

I never found a child so dedicated to music like this.

He's not only a guitar prodigy, but also have his heart in it.
