The band of my high school years, all the way over in California. Used to listen to their first two albums over and over and over. Finally saw them in the early 90s somewhere in SoCal. Was the first and only time I ever met a band, said hi, and got a signature. They were lovely! Thanks for posting this clip.
Thank you for adding this to youtube. Great clip. (shot at "Maxwells" in Hoboken, NJ was during sound check as that place & stage are Very tiny (we would have seen people there).
yeah... what happened to all the beautiful sounding bands..? nobody sounds like the early cranberries, sundays or innocence mission anymore. @ least the innocence mission still put out beautiful folksy albums every so often.
They exist, they just aren't on the charts. Easy enough to find though. Visit MySpace and search for a favorite band. Then see who they have added as "Friends". Then check out those folks' favorite bands. You'll find dozens, if not hundreds of bands and artists working in the same genre.
she has one of the most soothing, beautiful voices I have ever heard. 10 years ago I editied a video of my then infant son with 'bright as yellow' for the song. The night my daughter was born, I heard 'when mac was swimming' unexpectedly for the first time. Heard them at least 200 times each since - now both classics to me for the rest of my life.
I used to live in Mt Joy, and i did know they were from Lancaster (don't ya like how he pronounces it wrong, then the have Karen and Don on and the pronounce it correctly). ty postingoldtapes for well posting old tapes.
Thanks a lot for posting this. I remember when their debut came out in 1989; I was involved with the radio station at the university I went to at that time and I remember the album getting a good amount of airplay then.
This video is great. It's amazing to see them on MTV, even though it was 1989. I saw them in concert in Nashville in 1995. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.

Way too long since I've seen these guys live. Great to see them on the stage at Maxwell's. (I've played there too!)

You are my hero for posting this. I'm so sad that I was just too young to notice when they were media-famous. Still, one of my favourite bands.
