Heavens to Murgatroid! Not only an amazing band...and a classic Richard Rodgers tune...but performed live in the Land o' the Rising Sun! Dont' get much better than this! A world of thanks for posting! CHEERS! :-)
Richard Rodgers composed this song in 1938 for the musical On Your Toes. The emcee said it's from the roaring twenties -- not even close. Nonetheless, love the music.
Mine is a SIG SAUR P229 I am less than a meter away. I like the Japanese competition pistol shooter who uses an airsoft to practice with.. He is very good too. The Japanese loved this group. The announcer (MC) seems way more excited than the usual guys who would announce bands like Hendrix as if they had just woke up. The Japanese had good taste in music for sure. I am not sure if it was the surf scene of what exactly. Hawaii is a hugely popular vacation spot for Japan.
It's a damn shame that is a "Fake" live recording. Apparently the label didn't like the original live recordings so they had The Ventures "Cut Loose" their set list in the studio and then overdubbed live audience and an M.C. Labels will do anything to make a killing. Damn shame too cause The Ventures are truly amazing live!
@prodigyofpeace1983 Actually this is a REAL live recording. You're confusing this with the album "The Ventures On Stage" which are studio recordings with overdubbed audience sounds. What you hear on this is the real thing from 1965 - but it SOUNDS so perfect you'd think its in studio.
@emerpus01 Have you gotten The Ventures bio that just came out by Del Halterman? He clearly explains that all of their live albums from 1965 to 1967 were all studio cuts with audience ambience added.
@prodigyofpeace1983 Yes, I love that book! Check page 127 - according to Halternman, "Live in Japan 65" is the American version of the Japanese release "All About the Ventures", recorded from live concerts on July 24 & 25, 1965 at Tokyo's Kosei Nenkin Hall. Where does it say that any other album besides "The Ventues On Stage" were in-studio?

I bought a Mosrite guitar because of this album. Caravan on this album is unbelieveable.

@DyreStraits The "Slaughter" segment of On Your Toes (which is from 1936) is set in the 1920s.

Music is a far greater pleasure, accomplishment and a much higher refined talent to behold than weaponry or the ill effects of warfare...
