  • I LOVE THIS SONG! they did an amazing job of bringing it from the book into the show, i would love to perform this song sooo much..... LIPSYNC IDEA! :D

  • ohmyfreakinggoodnessgraciousgosh! I love musical theatre, and I am a huge fan of LOTR!!! THIS IS JUST AWESOME.

  • One of the most powerful on stage musicals ever!

  • Love this musical SO MUCH... chanced to be in London when it came out - have never forgotten it though... where did you this from? Do they have a DVD released - I so would buy it!!!

  • 4 orcs have never tasted beer.

  • I can't stop smiling! Best bloody hobbits to ever walk Middle Earth!!!! :D

  • im gonna be hearing this in my sleep! lolol

  • is this from the TO version or London?

  • @christrumpet1 Definitely London

  • WOW!

    Just WOW!

How can they dance and sing so fast? Is there any time for breathing?

Fantastic! And I love the rhytm of this song, it makes you happy <3

  • @SasuAkatsu there's plenty of time just as long as you stagger breath. In other words you try not to breath when you neighbor does and try not to let the audience see it either. My college did Pirates of Penzance this spring and the song "How Beautifully Blue" was just like this. Lots of dancing and fast tempos. Its quite fun. I just love Cat and the Moon!

  • My, those hobbits certainly have a lot of energy!

  • Intriguing....but Hobbits do not wear shoes. I understand, being fond of acting myself, that for the practicalities of the stage it is necessary to cover one's feet, but they could have done something similar to the films in using some sort of prosthetics....or at least something less blatantly condradictory to the books than brightly colored rain boots. :o/ this musical intruiges and concerns me as a whole.

  • @HeyBEatle123 I believe this scene was when they were at the Prancing Pony, and that Bree Hobbits wore shoes? I might be mistaken.

  • @HeyBEatle123 Actually, as IbanezJoey stated already...Bree hobbits DID wear shoes. So.. it actually isn't blatantly contradictory to the books. I'm finding that the musical is actually closer to the books then the movies are. For, if you recall, Frodo DID sing a song called "The Cat and the Moon" when they were at The Prancing Pony... and none of that was mentioned in the movies.

  • well apparently if you buy this or something, its slower than this version. is that true? 0.0

  • @DazzledRose3193 erm dont think so, sure its the same pace cause i learnt the words from watchign this clip oevr a7 over then seeing it was the same cause i was singing along in the audience lol soundtract is the same lol

  • making a musical for Lord of the Rings must have been very difficult since the story is so long and has so many parts. Plus the scenery and costumes would be difficult. The movies were perfect though. Making LOTR a musical is probably just as difficult as making a Titanic musical.

  • That song isn't from the book.. <_< ?

  • @Blunka796 Actually, it's based off a hobbit drinking song from the book. They changed the lyrics, but the main idea of it, and the integrity of it is maintained.

  • @Hilakos

That's actually kind of an inside joke, too. The song in the book was actually written and composed by Bilbo, but that 'it is not well-remembered today'. With all of the stuff about the cat and silverware and the dog and the cow jumping over the moon, the insinuation is that Bilbo created the original form of the nursery rhyme we know as 'Hey Diddle Diddle'. XD Hilarious!

  • Haha, I love them! If they will go on the world tour in 2011, I will to see it!:D:D

  • Sterrenday = like our Monday. Sterrenday is the first day of their week...

    Hev(e?)nsday = like our Friday.

It's nice they used the Hobbit-names of the days! I like that. This is a very happy song!

  • this one is faster then the other one, why?

  • aww i love this song, halfway through my feet started tapping lol. Orcs ran into the audience? when?

  • @DazzledRose3193 Well, when I saw it, they went there during the interval. Just a couple of them patrolling up and down the aisles down in the front rows. LOL, I remember I went down to the bar to watch them from above, and then got the crap scared out of me when the play started again with a huge kinda fanfare, shouty, thing.

  • O.O

  • hey, that's pretty unfair. I know a lot of people who would disagree with you, including me.

  • Cool...are the words the poem from the book?

  • NOOOOOO. ...no they are not...If your looking for the song frodo sings in bree, look up the album Starlit Jewel. It has all the exact words performed in a more...classical style.

  • no, but they mean pretty much the same thing

  • Well, Frodo sings a similar song in Bree. Story of the song is the same, but the lyrics are different, and of course, there is achorus inserted

  • @femoman omg i loved that song too!

  • how come i havnt herd of this til now?

tis a very happy song :D

  • I saw this on my school drama trip!!!

We all cried when the Orcs ran in2 the audience ran in2 the audience

  • this is too awesme love it

  • they should release a DVD version of this show :)

  • I agree =) that would be great

  • @megoni123

Hey, that's right. Where's the DVD? I'm not holding my breath though.

  • omg best choreography ever starting at 1:20!!!

  • i love this musical so much and i wish it hadn't ended.

  • Could someone tell me what a "starrenday" is?

  • I think it's a Hobbit weekday or weekend/holiday.

  • Well then I am having me a wonderful starrenday

  • Sterren actually means stars in Dutch :D

  • This is a very fun number. The song is ho-hum, but the choreography is very interesting.

  • "downsides go up HEY! Upsides went wide. witha batter and a clatter you can shatter every platter but the moon slept till Sterenday!" god those lyrics are going to be stuck in my head FOREVER! x_x

  • Will they ever release a DVD?

  • I don't think so. I'm hoping they will though :D

  • genie: they have the actualy CD and DVD...but not of the actual production but of the music! dont know if you wanted the music or not

  • i have watched lotr so many times that instead of seeing the real actors in the musical, i see the real characters from the movie. (elijah wood as frodo,....) its wierd. i can picture them soo well. lol

  • i saw it live the musical is just as good as film may be even better

  • better??? omg now your making me feel bad for missing it : ( ugh oh well i need to find the whole thing posted on here. lol do u know where i can find it?

  • apprantly they're making a UK tour for 2010 and it's opening in Germany in December 09 so maybe you wont have missed it?

  • why do people believe the show has finsihed for good?!?!?! Its going to GERAMNY!!!!

  • Yes the show goes to Germany but wich city?

  • ya it might be going to Germany but i heard its with a german speaking cast so unless you know german youll have to wait until its preformed somewhere else

  • why wait - I wanna see it in different languages, it'll be interesting

  • I agree! I saw Lord Of The Rings in January '08 and it was one of the best performances I've ever seen. Oh how I wish I'd seen it again.

  • I am JEALOUS!!!!!!!

  • It'll be performed in Köln :) It's starts in December '09. I'm so looking forward!

  • I want to see this SOOOOOO much.

I envy anyone who has already seen it.

  • Anyone know where I can find the words for this?

  • Dish from off the dresser pranced Found a spoon and gaily danced Horses neighed and champed their bits For the bloodshot Moon had lost his wits Well, cow jumped over, Dog barked wild Moon lay prone and sweetly smiled Ostler cried, Play faster, Cat! Because we all want to dance like that. Gambol and totter till youre Hotter than a hatter and you Spin all akimbo like a windmill flailing Whirl with a clatter till you Scatter every cotter and the Strings start a-pinging as the world goes sailing.
  • Downsides go up- hey! Outsides go wide. You can clatter With your platter But the Moon slept till Sterrenday. Upsides go west- hey! Broadsides go boom. Outsides go wide.

With a twiddle on the fiddle

In the middle by the griddle

And the Moon slept till Sterrenday.

    Upsides go west- hey!

    Broadsides go boom.

With a batter and a clatter

    You can shatter every platter

But the Moon slept till Sterrenday.

  • Thanx!

  • I guess the hobbit cast wasn't available. They totally ruined the lord of the rings with those unrealistic real people playing the parts, damn you producers, damn you!

  • What the fuck is this??? Why're the hobbits normal sized? And where the hell is Sigfried and Roy?

  • This is so funny!!!!!!!!!!!! Sam really seems to be getting into it near the end.

  • I met him! He's absolutely lovely in real life :)

  • I really like his voice, too! It's very pleasant...but it's good to know the guy playing sam is lovely--he ought to be :-)

  • If you do its AMAZING!!!!!!! I loved the spider Shelob, that was just cool! The cat an the moon is my fave song!

  • I wish I could see this in person!

  • AMAZING!!

  • So I saw this show a few days ago and over all its jaw dropping. The sets, the stage, the lights, and the costumes are all fantastic. I was however, extremely disappointed in the acting. This story has so much emotional moments and has so much potential for an actor to be amazing, but I felt that it just didn't deliver in that aspect. Anyone who saw it agree? I've seen many West End and Broadway shows and I feel that London's acting isn't up to par compared to New York. I love this song though

  • I agree about the acting, really wasn't impressed at the acting, it looked very tired considering I saw it when it had only been out a few months.

  • well, I thought some of the acting was great, but I agree that maybe other shows had better acting. Wicked, for example.

  • I'm going to see this in June! Words cannot describe how excited I am!

  • Me too! What day you going?

  • that must be a bitch to learn!

  • not really! i just got the cast recording album and actually it's quite easy and VERY fun! I'd love to learn the actions! I wish this was the full song though. There's a bit before this.

  • where did you get the album? i can't find it for the life of me!

  • well, it's FINALLY on iTunes! and you can buy it from amazon, because that's where I got it from! its fantastic if you get it from Amazon because it comes in a little book with pictures and cast lists and everything! you also get an extra song, another version of The Song of Hope (duet)

  • Think of it this way, their hobbits and other lil old things, dancing in a pub, more than slightly smashed, from the view of an actor looking at their character portrayal it gives it that little bit of reality and innocent humour through their mistakes, obviously not planned but effective in giving each character a unique feel, even the cast

  • is the choreography meant to be in tiem with eachother? because at 1:26 the people on the chairs arms go up at differnet times.

  • I think so, but the movements are extremely quick so most casts prolly wouldnt be able to do it PERFECTLY lol

  • yeh I understand that part but it just creates the look of the scene being rushed.

and boy peter darling is a great choreographer and i know he would want it near to exact.

  • they are supposed to be drunk and giddy. these actors have little experience in dance, according to the bios. it's supposed to look hyper and giddy, not flawless.

  • yeh I understand that part but it just creates the look of the scene being rushed.

and boy peter darling is a great choreographer and i know he would want it near to exact.

  • it isn't ment to that the arms gonna get up at the same time.

  • The lord of the Rings London Production is ending. On July 19th.

  • any more productions planned?

  • omg im gonna see this on the 27th of March...I CANT WAIT!!! ive been listeniing to this song for who only knows how long and if i can still love it now im gonna love it for life! p.s. im taking a sack and capturing hobbits!

  • i went to see it 1 say ago last week it is brillant

  • This song is addictive and stays in your heard for a long long time!! very fun to listen and watch.

  • Sooo Sooo Hobbity !!!

  • frodo is cute

  • does anyone know were to buy the soundttrack? i cant find it any were online or at any store. i live in the usa in california.

  • I WANT SEE THIS!!

  • I love this so much! (I'm wearing my t-shirt atm! lol!) I've just booked a second lot of tickets for me and my family. Can't wait - it'll be the first time my nan has seen a West End production in years, and she'll be stunned! I can't wait to watch her face when the Black Riders come on :D

  • lolz did anyone see them on paul o'grady? where they taught the dance, we videoed it to show to john loyes parents.. but i think me mams mislade it.. anyone know if its on the internet?

  • The soundtrack arrived today for me from Amazon! :D

Great stuff! I'm hopefully going to see the show for the 4th time in a couple of weeks!

  • This show is awesome, people below, I went to see the matinee, and afterwards, the cast are out literally within 10 minutes. Peter Howes usually out first, to have a fag, Micheal Therriault out last about 20 mins after the show. LMK is normally out pretty soon, with her make up on :D

  • BEST SHOW I'VE EVER SEEN!!!

I did a work shop with one of the actors in the cast,

we learnt some of this dance =]

    AMAZING experience!

  • Hobbits look like true hobbits from Tolkien´s mind :)

  • Seem good must to london and see this

  • I've seen Peter Howe outside the Stage Door on 28th December. I didn't say hello to him, I was too shy. Today, I have a message from him on Facebook!! How scary is that? He must have read my Mood Board or something. Sweet though.

  • Hi, what if I'd like to meet Laura M, Kelly..what time do the actors arrive generally?

    Tnx;)

  • I think Peter was out at the Stage Door because of some interval of the matinee. I am not sure when they arrive, probably early around morning or noon.

  • OK thanks!
