I just stumbled across a version of this by Pieces Of A Dream on their Imagine This LP, final track, side 2. I doesn't touch the original IMO to the OG! I just love re-discovering music & it's innate ability to re-connect you over space(oceans in my case) & time! I was really getting into George Duke at this point-in-time also as well as discovering Charles Earland & Flora Purim amoung other amazing contemporaries. My belief & passion for music was at an all time high then! Not so much now :-(
I know its not right to put people down... But I can say for sure that there are at least (3) people out there that Suck!!!!! Something is wrong with you (3), I think some people just hit that dislike button because its there.
Truly a modern jazz classic. Foreshadows rock fusion with its different sections in different styles and times. Love the way he harmonizes the melody differently the second time through the melody and then goes to the bridge. Wow!
Hancock, Johnny Coles, Garnett Brown, Joe Henderson, Buster Williams and Albert "Tootie" Heath-"The Prisoner" lineup with the addition of Bernard Purdie, Grady Tate, Eric Gale,Billy Butler, Jerry Jemmott and others. Best I can do.Thanks to Kirk DeGiorgio and waxpoetics!
There was lots of good stuff in 1969. Reminds me of Ironside stuff and all the great music in that series. You can't beat a Rhodes from the 60's. Such a lovely piece.
randomlightningman........ so i guess the clip of him performing in Warsaw in November(i.e. less than 2 months ago) was his twin brother??? lololol...........u can always count on ignorant people to say ignorant ish!!! = )
@themplskid Well as it turns out, there is one Jack off out there that seems to "dislike" this tune. How ANYONE could dislike such a smooth, mellow tune such as this one is beyond me. Herbie is my man, a hundred grand.

True Story: This song - maybe the greatest of Herbie - was the first song my sons Carlo and Bela heard in their live !... I catched them up with my wife at hospital imeadiatly after they were born and pressed the tape into the player starting the song ;)
Thanks Herbie for this only song of my all time high five - and thanks for uploading it !

Ahh the ageless Herbie Hancock! Back in the '70's my big sis and Mr. Hancock's music, (this and Maiden Voyage) helped foster my interest and love for jazz, a love that still exists, and grows more everyday! Thanks Mac, thanks Herbie Hancock!
@JazzySaxplaya Okay all of them doing this hit and miss stuff!!!!!! The only way the characters above 1979 can get this music is here and their parents........it's gone and the talent too..........
Will someone out there please do me a huge favor? Please upload the tune "You'll know when you get there" by Herbie Hancock. I believe that this is a 60s recording and one of my all time favorites. Thank you.
My dad put us kids to bed with Mangione's " Maui Waui " . I've carried on that tradition with my children , but I wanted to make my own impression on their memories . This beautiful Hancock masterpiece is what I chose for them .
@willardlockejr Pieces Of A Dream also done a fine cover of this on there "Imagine This" CD. I think that was the name of the CD. It was the one with "Fo-Fi-Fo" on it.
This is one of my all time favorite songs. My Dad gave me the Fat Albert Rotunda album when I was about 13. This recording hits everything just right.
I heard this song on my Detroit jazz station WJZZ in the early 80s. I couldn't find the album anywhere (this was before the internet!). I moved to California.
