This song is fucken awesome >]

  • I fuckin love this song i dont care if it is in german

  • the german translation......."you have asked me a question, and I have said nothing..."............."hast" is from "Haber"....to have........"Hasst" means hate.....this is a play on German wedding vows........."do you promise to be faithful til the death of the vagina"......Really??????? B

  • when rammstein performed the song in english even they said you hate me bc he says du hasst but they titled is du hast to mess with people minds and he's sayin you hate me to say meaning she hates the guy to say no and the rest of the song he's saying wedding vows

  • @kailaissacs

I only ever heard it as "you hate me"... I love your tanslation... It is soo beautiful. My fiance is german, & I am looking into taking a class so i can learn. I would love to be able to understand exactly what i am listening to. (however beautiful I find it regardless).

  • du hast mich means do you hate me

  • @colton538 No it doesn't. Du hasst mich means "You hate me". Du hast mich means "You have me". It is a play on words. A native German speaker will hear "You, you hate, you hate me", but only when they hear "you have asked me" will they understand the first line is actually "you have me".

It's like an English speaker hearing "You... you ran out... you ran out of beer". Only when the wordplay is complete do you understand what I'm talking about.

  • A little German for you people

    [to have]

    Ich habe

    Du hast

    Er/Sie/Es hat

    Wir haben

    Ihr habt

    Sie/Sie haben

  • great..,.

  • bigblu182:

You are only half correct. The pronunciation is "Du Hasst" which means "You Hate", however, the written title is "Du Hast" which means "You have". This is a play on words. Your "dumasses" comment is irrelevant and childish (as well as misspelled).

As for Bigmouthhellheadsym: The Nazi Party is outlawed in Germany...but guess which country actually allows it? The U.S.A. Kind of ironic, isn't it? The album cover you speak of has nothing to do with Nazis.

  • why the hell does every 1 keep thinking du hast means you have???? it means you hate.....dumasses

  • @bigblu182 Because "Du hast" doesn't mean "You hate". The correlative spelling of hate would be "hasse"...if you say "You hate me", it would be spelled "Du HaSSt mich" with two S's. Who's the dumb ass now?

  • @Jirkenz131 Listen to the english version by them to see it says Hate.

  • @residentevilfan6268. Yes, it's called being artistic. They play around with their music in their native tongue. This song is a fine example of using metaphors. In the German version, the written lyrics is NOT 'hate'. If you sang this song in English literally, you would be saying, "You have me". Don't fucking tell me I'm wrong when I SPEAK German.

  • @residentevilfan6268 It says that because the wordplay in English doesn't work. The English version drops the wordplay for a direct translation, but in the process loses the dual meaning that's intended to define *why* he says no.

She both has him, *and* hates him- akin to an bitchy fiancee. In English, she simply hates him, begging the question why a wedding vow is even necessary, since she doesn't even have him.

  • @bigblu182 stupid means you have look for the lyrics on internet you would see you are the dumbass that think it is you hate

  • They probably are nazis, look at the liebe ist fur alle da cover

  • @Bigmouthhellheadsymp what nazi only 1 % of germans are Nazis

And what is on the cower a Nazi first look bevore you post a fucking comment

  • the correct translation is you hate but we all mess up its ok

  • @Crusnik026 No that is not the correct translation. It is correctly translated as 'You Have' to be 'You Hate' it would have to be 'Du Hasst'. Do -NOT- use the English -version- as a translation because it is not a translation but a completely different version of the song. Feel free to type 'Du hast' into any online translator and you'll get 'you have', do the same with 'hasst' if you like.

  • @Kyuu88 but then again, that is only a rough translation, via internet anyways. They are German, I think I trust them over any translator. It could be sort of a slang, like 'what' and 'wat'.

  • @residentevilfan6268 as Jirkenz131 said as well, the proper translation of Du Hast is 'You have', DutchRH also posted then entire conjugation of the verb have in german, which shows 'You have' corresponding to you 'du hast'. The conjugation for hate is as follows:

    to hate - hassen

    I hate - Ich hasse

you hate - du hasst (ss can also be written as ß)

    he/she/it hate(s) - er/sie/es hasst

    we hate - wir hassen

you (all) hate - ihr hasst

you (formal) hate - Sie hassen

    Not rough either, proper.

  • fucking awful

  • omfg r u kidding i LUV Rammstein theyre the best german band ever!!!!!! i luv their song Ich Will!!!!!
