It's so Sad! The competition between BJ X RS still generates passion and fights. Unfortunately, Brian can’t give none opinion. There is no doubt of his importance in the early years. He had a facility for communicating with press, put his ideas. Just watch some vids. BJ taught a lot of things to the KIDS (M&K) and both? Control him, vampirize him and finally sent him away. Brian was the Master, taught them how to do things. It's sorrowful, after 42 years, they can’t forgive. Let him find peace!
I've yet to see one interview where Brian Jones was the asshole everyone around him said he was. In fact, I've seen interviews where he's the friendliest, likeable of the group. If anyone knows a link of the group being interviewed where Brian gets ugly, please let me know. Thanks.
Its right, Ruby Tuesday a song with the signature of Brian! Unfortunately Cliff Richard a cinic an intrigant man, that continuous up today talking bad thing against Brian, and Mick Jagger made a war against Brian to put him out of the band. But the goost of Brian is still planning over Rolling Stones through the years.
When a person says The Rolling Stones they respond, "oh yeah with Jagger and Richards" although they are correct they are forgetting the most important(and founder) of The Rolling Stones-Mr. Brian Jones!!
People need to give him a lot more credit, because he was amazing, No Jones No Stones!
He written songs, just like Bill Wyman, Ian Stewart, Keith Harwood, and others did.
But on these days the young Stones were still looking for a stable success and, in Andrew Oldham opinion, was most important the dualism with Lennon-McCartney.
More, Andrew Oldham didn't like Brian very much. In fact, Brian was not gay.
Yeah, but he wasn't a confident songwriterand he never showed his work to the others, he was only starting to work on things he was happy with when he died. And who was it who said he was gay? He had more girlfriends than Jagger, he even "accidently" let himself get caught when they were chased by screaming girls.
he wasn't gay he was bi, but he preffered girls, he didn't really trust women, but with his life being nothing but struggle from an early age it was hard for him, especially being bipolar.
I didn't say he was gay. I was just asking who said he was. someone must of, otherwise italiarovinata wouldn't have corrected them. but yeah, he was amazing. wish i was that talented
I agree. He founded one of the most important bands in music history AND he could learn to play any instrument he liked in under 1/2 an hour. How may Rock Gods can say THAT! (RIP Brian Jones! *:)
'Play one of the more unussual ones'. He was really into the spirit of music, Mick would probarly have used the oppertunity to promote the latest record.
He did write the soundtrack for a film ["Mord und Totschlag" (also called "A Degree Of Murder"), an avant-garde German film with Anita Pallenberg]. He hired musicians to play on the soundtrack, among them guitarist Jimmy Page. One thing not said on Brian Jones was how dominant ALO was throughout. He stymied Brian's efforts - dismissing Brian's efforts as not 'poppy' enough!!!
It also depends on how you define songwriting. He certainly earned a credit, co-writing songs like Ruby Tuesday or providing inspiring arrangements as he did on many songs. Still, the starting of many songs was mostly Mick Jagger, using riffs he picked up from Richards.
he did pretty much all of the instrumentation in the early days, mick and keith were happy to watch brian do all the work, but they took all the credit. songs liks 'shes a rainbow' ;lady jane' 'gomper' ruby tuesday' 'no expectations' brian didn't get credit for, but he did the instrumentation, tht made his bipolar worse, he was trying his best but mick being the cunt he is only cared about himself.

I'm a fan of Brian's multi-instrumentation, but let's not get carried away; he played the riff on the Last Time, but Satisfaction, Get Off My Cloud, etc. were Keith creations. Brian added nice colors like sitar and marimba but it was the Jagger/Richards original songwriting that kept things going- Brian couldn't write songs, got jealous, etc. Being bipolar doesn't mean you have to wreck yourself on horse tranquilizer, acid, and brandy, or beat up women. Brian had really himself to blame.
brian didn't have anything to be jealous of he was the most talented, he could write songs, but was much more a musician than a songwriter he wrote no expectations co-wrote ruby tuesday. being manic depressant back then when there was no medication a lot of people took drugs to feel better brian did, stephen fry, van gough, oscar wilde, hendrix.
considering his life from his early teens i'm suprised he made it to twenty.
I agree he was brilliant, but he couldn't write lyrics - he played the slide on No expectations and came up with the melody for Ruby Tuesday; Mick and Keith, respectively, wrote the lyrics for those songs. Brian had no talent for it - very basic blues lyrics was all he could do.
And you know this for sure so you can comment on it cuz you know this for SURE?
You don't know shit. I liked Brian and his work, if I had a bandmate that secretly was getting 5 pounds a week more... who didn't show up for gigs ... and was taking credit while I played his guitar parts.
Yea Mick and Keith sacked him... it took them a long time to do... cuz ... he was a stone and they loved him.

@ samEmdee987: He was songwriter too, and that's what I tried to wrote in my post, excuse my mistakes, I am not English.
Brian was not gay at all,
but nobody can say the same about Rolling Stones manager, Andrew Loog Oldham.
Jagger-Richards as songwriters, in the early Stones years, was an invention of Oldham and Decca Records.
