I too have troubles with my short term memory and the struggle to find the appropriate word. I also discovered I couldn't type fast enough to keep up with the rest of my class so i had to ask for accommodations at my school too. I had to use voice activated software for typing, have extra time for tests and not do more than 1 test in a day because of my fatigue. Everyone was understanding but i was really frustrated that I couldn't change these MS affects no matter how hard I worked.
@PaulineGeorge26 I can completely understand your frustration, but I'm so glad that everyone was understanding! I know, I'd likd to change the MS effects too, but I just try to make the best of everything! I wish you the best!!

The fact that you are so aware, and objective about your situation...

@nightstash1 Hello!! Oh gosh, I'm not sure. I would get tested if you are concerned, but just because family members have it doesn't mean it's possible for you. No one in my family has it...I'm sorry I can't answer for you!
Do you have a facebook? I'm sorry if that's s weird question I'd like to get to know more about MS the doctor really think I have it from my MRI and all the signs are there. I thought maybe you can help me. My name is Carla I'm 32 and lost and confused hope we can be friends.
Thankyou, had and still have cognative impairment. Like you have trouble with word search. Your videos inspire us all. You replied to me before. And like you am also in University. Just making the most of everyday. Well I will be seeing a neoroligist on Oct 25. I hope, and thankyou again, your videos are inspirational.
@rivernightingale Thank you so much for your message! I wish you the best of luck in University, and I hope your appointment goes well on the 25th! Keep in touch!
Lauren, please respond back! I would love to hear from you! You are such an inspiration for all!!! Who is your neuro? Mine is Dr. Khatri here in Milwaukee, WI. I heard he is suppose to be one of the best in the country. I do not know for sure but I think he is a good Doc!
@jeannelovesjon1 Hi again! I live in Detroit and my neurologist is Dr. Paul Cullis. I'm so glad you have a wonderful neurologist! I wish you the best with everything!

Good luck to you and keep the faith and keep strong!!!!!
Hi Lauren I'm long time not watched you becauose I been in Poland on holiday in Poland in the sammer was very hot. I was had accident on the walk I sllip on the flor and damaged head. Next I'm had a strong relapse. Sorry for my English getting better I want to write in English. It's great to hear you. Daniel
@danielek1871 Hi Daniel! I'm sorry to hear that you slipped - I hope you're feeling better and you're doing well! It was really hot here this summer too. Wishing you the best!
Thank you for your message, Poland suspect me of PML , but after a quick return to England has been ruled out and no longer afraid. Now I feel better. But you look very nice I'm happy for you Tisabri works so well. Sorry for my English as you can put the amendment to what I wrote and it will be a big help. Thanks in advance. Daniel
Lauren, I love your motivation and your spirit! Overcoming my fear and insecurity with my cognitive problems has been one of my biggest struggles, but like you, I am a graduate student and look at where we are! I take it like a challenge too, and we can overcome this!
@KSTdancer That is excellent!! Good for you! It's so nice to be able to realte to someone going through the same thing! Thank you for writing and good luck!
Whoever says blondes are dumb are just jealous. The funny thing is that so many brunette women say that and then they end up dying their hair blonde. Makes you wonder who the really dumb one is? LOL!!
Lauren - you are clearly a very intelligent and caring woman. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 52, although it's clear I had a very slow moving MS course my whole adult life (looking back). My major problems are cognition and fatigue. And they are worse now that I am older, but they were still an unexplainable part of my life when I was younger. It didn't stop me from getting through law school though. Our cog deficits are not the same thing as intelligence deficits. You'll do great!
@CTYankeeMS Oh, thank you so much! You are so right! I appreciate your comment so much! WOW! Law school? Good for you! Thank you so much for your encouragement!! I wish you well!!
Oh Lauren...thank you so much for posting this! I just wanted to add to what you said about schools possibly accommodating this form of disability. I also was able to receive accommodations in terms of note takers/tutors/study software, and all of these available options helped me immensely while taking my two-year program in college. I encourage students affected by MS to contact their disability counsellor at school and start the process of getting the help; such a good idea!
@ChantalJohnston Thank you for your comment!! Schools are so helpful and I want everyone to know!! I'm so glad you were able to get the correct accomodations!
I recognize so much in what you are saying. I'm just so glad I could turn some of it around... I hope you have tested yourself for lack of Vit D + Kalsium... I can not say how much it changed my life. I had 50% of the LEAST amount of Vit-D I should have... But: I support you so much in your videos! You are excellent! Big hug from Norway!
@ChaozFear Thank you so much for your comment! I take extra Vitamin D tablets and I really think it does help!! I'm sending you sending a big hug from the U.S.!!
@mfgutierrez07 It seems to be working for patients...pretty much immediately! I want to wait a little longer just so that it's been tested. But I have friends that have had it done and they've seen amazing results!
Lauren the fact that you present as being very intelligent despite these underlying cognitive problems you also have to deal with shows just how clever you really are in order to still be able to communicate so superbly. You also have stunning beauty and anyone making these comments about you can only be jealous of the fact that you have so much to offer, as well as having a beautiful nature too. Your'e the sweetest and don't waste your time even thinking about such stupid remarks. Rick.
@rickileeway Hi Rick! Oh my gosh thank you so much for your comment!! I'm really sensitive and I take everything to heart, but what you said really means a lot to me!
@mfgutierrez07 I would look at irishbear76's channel. He has several informative videos about CCSVI (Dr. Zamboni's Liberation Procedure), and he just had the procedure!!
Hey Lauren I am so glad to hear that u r going to grad school. That's great! U will do wonderful. I agree with u that the cognitive impairments are just a challenge but I am sure u will adapt and overcome. U have come so far already. Many people view your videos and look to u for inspiration. Ur videos have taught us all so much about this disease and different ways of coping. Thanks and good luck!
Your video brought tears to my eyes.. You are so wonderful and make me believe there are so many more people out there like yourself. I am going through something like your talking about.. I was diagnosed on Aug 27th 2010 with MS & my significant other believes I am milking it or trying to get a pitty act because I can't recall things as fast or remember things after being told five minutes before. It gets so hard but you brought a spark of happiness to me today with this video. Good luck hun!
@HisbellsEnd I am so glad my video was helpful for you! Oh my goodness, I can't recall things or remember things either!! I am glued to a pen and my calendar where I write myself notes!! I wish you the best!
Lauren you are so lively and happy in this video! You are so natural in front of the camera and you have such great advice. These are the words of a very smart person :) xx
@sandyCanada56 Hi Sandy! Oh my gosh, thank you so much!! I try to laugh it off when people call me stupid...because they don't know what I go through...but it can definitely be challenging in certain situations. Thank you so much for your encouragement!!
People can be very cruel sometimes. It doesnt help, that televison and movies helps to promote, the stereo type pf the dumb blonde. I can tell just by listening to you, that you are very intelligent.
Stupid? Are you kidding? I think if more people were like you the world would have a lot less problems. Some people are so cynical they think anyone who has a positive attitude must be stupid as there is surely nothing to be happy about. They have intelligence but not the wisdom to apply it. You're one of the wiser people I know. The fact you can talk about yourself in this way is an example of your fearlessness and is probably one of the reasons you have so many fans. Stupid? Oh hell no.
@gphx Oh my gosh what a nice thing to say!! I think you're right...people can be very cynical and are against those who are happy! I truly appreciate what you said! That means a lot to me!!
I dont think your not stupid.... I think you need to be liberated from CCSVI.. I think once you get liberated, your cognitive impairment will be gone.. Please visit the CCSVI in Multiple Sclerosis facebook page because the users can give you information on how to get tested.. You should At least get tested definitely... MS won't wait, why should you?
I'm so proud of you for getting the testing done and seeking help! It's really hard to do sometimes. Don't believe that you're stupid for one more minute!! Great job going to grad school...you go girl!
@mrsrhendrie Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it! I've put the testing off for far too long...it was hard to do, but I'm so glad I did it. Thanks again for your support! It really means a lot to me!
Hi again Lauren, great to see you looking SO well !!. You are no way a dumb blonde, as for the people saying that because you are friendly.. well that says lots more about them than it ever will about you. I haven't had any severe cognitive issues as yet except for 'foggy moments' which pass fairly quickly but leave me stood on the spot mouth gaping like a dumb ass !!
wishing you loads & loads of luck with grad school, i know you'll show them all.
I also had a lot of cognitive challenges, but I used Vitamin D, Vitamin B, Omega 3, Garlic pills and Cod Oil from Norway.. and guess what I got better :D
PS: I HAD too little vitamin D in my body, and that caused a lot of my symptoms with cognitivity
Great topic Lauren! I did have the testing done myself and I did really well on things like vocabulary and common knowledge things. What he found with me is that my problem solving skills, were very impaired. When I had to make the shapes out of the little block to match the pictures I would transpose them, same thing with numbers. I also had a hard time with the assocation things, like what does a poem and a statue have in common. I just did not see the connection. You are no dummy!
@MSVlogSupport Thank you Andrea! My problem solving skills were impaired too, and I also had a hard time with associations! Thank you for your support!!
Have cognitive challenges since 1986. Did receive two masters degrees before the MS got me. So professionally I have done OK which financially, has continued. And still ride agood jet ski!
@zekest Wow! Two Masters Degrees?!?! That's amazing! And the fact that you still ride a jet ski says a lot about you...you definitely don't let anything stop you! I wish you continued success!!
Fear is the mind killer. Worrying too much about cognition problems can cause stress, which can cause more problems - and then you've got a vicious problem, right? I used to have stage fright when I did gigs (before my diagnosis). But then I did a couple of REALLY bad gigs - I've been booed offstage - and after that I was fine. The point is, I coped. It still hadn't been half as bad as I'd feared, so my fear dissolved...
@lovingfatalist case in point: when I wrote "vicious problem" I meant "vicious circle". Brain fog strikes again! That's my excuse for everything ha ha
@lovingfatalist Thank you so much for your comment. I definitely agree - fear is the mind killer, and worrying too much definitely causes stress...which can lead to more problems. You're absolutely right. It is a vicious circle!
I'm so glad your fear dissolved and you're doing well. Thanks again for writing!
@irishbear76 Hi Mark! Oh, thank you SO MUCH!! Your comment means so much to me! I am going to seriously look into the Liberation Procedure...I will talk to my neurologist soon.
Great video Lauren! I am 25 and have the same cognitive challenges. I am also in grad school. I will be done with my master's degree this coming May and I still have to remind myself everytime I walk into a classroom that I am not dumb, I just have an a special challenge. Good luck! I know you'll do fantastic!
@ToriUTK Thank you so much! Oh my gosh we are in the same position! You must be SO PROUD of yourself!! I will have to remind myself of that too! I wish you the very best and please keep me posted on how the rest of your program goes. What are you studying??
I just went thru the same tests and I was told that there are a lot of areas that I am severely impaired. Maybe I'm too stubborn for my own good sometimes. As a male, it's even harder for me to ask for help... it's not that help hasn't been offered, I think I'm just being stubborn... and this memory thing... I thought I wasn't supposed to have to deal with that until after I was a lot older!
On a positive note, being stubborn works for me a lot of the time!
@magikmarc1 Hello! Oh I know what you mean...I can be stubborn too...that's why I said that I hate to admit that I have problems. I'm so glad that being stubborn works for you a lot of the time!
Ya, I have trouble stumbling with words and I get looks from people like I'm an idiot too . Still, here I am able to speak French, able to Sign, and also decently proficient in Mandarin Chinese. You are going to Med school, which many can't even make it into. So here we go Lauren to all the judgmental on 3: 1----2----3----TAKE THAT!
Lauren, you are so special, and you are motivating. i thank you for being an advicate for others.

I'm so proud of you for getting the testing done and seeking help! It's really hard to do sometimes. Don't believe that you're stupid for one more minute!! Great job going to grad school...you go girl!

Love as always

I also had a lot of cognitive challenges, but I used Vitamin D, Vitamin B, Omega 3, Garlic pills and Cod Oil from Norway.. and guess what I got better :D
PS: I HAD too little vitamin D in my body, and that caused a lot of my symptoms with cognitivity

@ChaozFear Oh my gosh...isn't that amazing? Thank you for letting me know that! I'm so glad you got better! I wish you the best!

Thanks Lauren,
Have cognitive challenges since 1986. Did receive two masters degrees before the MS got me. So professionally I have done OK which financially, has continued. And still ride agood jet ski!
zekest 1 year ago

You're doing fine anyway. Nice video x
lovingfatalist 1 year ago
@lovingfatalist case in point: when I wrote "vicious problem" I meant "vicious circle". Brain fog strikes again! That's my excuse for everything ha ha

@lovingfatalist Thank you so much for your comment. I definitely agree - fear is the mind killer, and worrying too much definitely causes stress...which can lead to more problems. You're absolutely right. It is a vicious circle!
I'm so glad your fear dissolved and you're doing well. Thanks again for writing!

Idiots do not go to Big Ten schools like MSU!!!!!!!
LAUREN! You are kind, sweet, articulate, intelligent, outgoing, and easy on the eyes.
I just hope you look into The LIberation Procedure for CCSVI.
I imagine you will make your Neuro swallow his gum on your first visit post-procedure.
I wish you all of God's blessings.

ToriUTK 1 year ago
@ToriUTK Thank you so much! Oh my gosh we are in the same position! You must be SO PROUD of yourself!! I will have to remind myself of that too! I wish you the very best and please keep me posted on how the rest of your program goes. What are you studying??

Lauren,
I just went thru the same tests and I was told that there are a lot of areas that I am severely impaired.
This is a good video to see
magikmarc1 1 year ago
@magikmarc1 Hello! Oh I know what you mean...I can be stubborn too...that's why I said that I hate to admit that I have problems. I'm so glad that being stubborn works for you a lot of the time!

Ya, I have trouble stumbling with words and I get looks from people like I'm an idiot too . Still, here I am able to speak French, able to Sign, and also decently proficient in Mandarin Chinese. You are going to Med school, which many can't even make it into. So here we go Lauren to all the judgmental on 3: 1----2----3----TAKE THAT!
