Never felt comfortable with Obama or Biden not calling it an HIV test, and wondered when Obama made his " joke " if he might be a little homophobic. I wanted Hillary and still do especially in recent days, I am loosing my support with Obama over DADT - Obama - Detriment to our Armed Services " & Obama administration supporting DOMA in recent days, is he throwing us under the bus ?
There are also no "recognized standards" for diagnosing broken bones, or staph, or strep. Is that supposed to mean they don't exist either? Or aren't dangerous?
Laughable.
There are dozens of accurate, reliable tests for HIV. Used correctly, the probability of a misdiagnoses is far less than 1 in 1,000,000.
Google "FDA testkits HIV diagnostic" for a page full of FDA approved HIV tests.
If you have questions about HIV testing feel free to ask me!
"there is no recognized standard for establishing the presence or absence of antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2 in human blood.."
With the clear implication that HIV testing is a fraud. Which is a bald-faced lie, from a monumental liar (mykoolaidtastesfunny aka "Olivia Love Worthy," OliviaHadassah, annie46664, hivquestions, Pennee101, scatman44, anunnaki2006 ... And about 200 other aliases. She is a professional HIV denialist who makes her living selling quack therapies to HIV+ people.)
If people keep their pants on and don't screw around they don't have anything to worry about. Testing as a precaution is nothing but a blood draw, but Biden talking about people in his district belies a moral issue with the people he represents.
I have traveled to several nations (including some in Africa) that have AIDS outbreaks, not one trip "required" an AIDS test. I didn't get intimate with any of the locals so I had no fear of contracting the disease. I have had "periodic" HIV tests, because the military required it, not associated with any travel.
LMAO! Look at Barky blush when Biden says that he was tested for AIDS.
Why was Barky tested anyway? I've been married the same length as Barky, and the wife and I never felt the need to be tested. We don't screw other people!
This is going to be great! I'm laughin in advance.
If you listened to the entire response, jackass, it's because they were travelled to Kenya. They make you get tested for a wide variety of diseases before they let you enter the country. Sheeeeeesh. Open your ears.
As a Democrat, Clinton supporter this is what is dis-heartening, it's not even an AIDS test= Hiv That kind of humor, ignorance is why I cannot switch over yet.
so, whatever your parents die of is God's curse upon your parents for producing you? further, whatever you die of, is that God creating that disease specifically to kill you? you're such an idiot! I'm sure God appreciates you speaking for Him however, surely...
Maybe I'm missing something, but I do not see at all how Obama's joke could be seen as homophobic. It was a funny joke and a good response, as Biden phrased his statement about Obama so awkwardly. I could see Obama giving the exact same response if Hillary had said "I got tested, and I know Barack got tested", and I can't imagine that he would have been criticized for taking an "anti-woman" stance or saying that "AIDS was just a woman's disease".
that's a decent argument - but the laughter was huge the second Biden said they both got tested, sorry, it's just too obvious to point out how it's obviously an I'm not gay one liner after another by Obama, jokingly, but still he probably shoulda skipped over making a joke about such a serious issue esp. when Biden was speaking so powerfully.
The audience is clearly unsympathetic (and from formerly-fat Al's expression, hostile).Biden's main point was that being active sexually has risks;Obama's response, while obviously playing to the nervous laughter, was clearly out of character with the deliberate Vulcan-like character he has presented so far. His response establishes that he's not homosexual, but is an idiot. Why didn't he respond instead "Hey Joe!-I'm only HALF-BLACK?" or better yet, just remain silent.
Calm down, people. Yes, if you over analyze it, Obama was being silly. Biden speaks truth. But down low brothers need to get real and get tested. Anyway, Obama did a good thing in Africa and I would be curious what he, and Hillary said in the rest of their comments. Don't just react to them from a 1:28 clip. Y'all need to chill.
"about whass goin awn!" - obama - what a jerk! I cannot believe he went that way with it. You didn't see Sharpton laughing, you didn't see Sen. Clinton laughing - Biden was making a very serious point, and just because the immature majority of the crowd got a kick about him saying in 2 sentences they both got tested, Obama showed little class & respect for gay people that he had to make it clear to the crowd I ain't no homo.
thank you, the black community is engaged in denial as Biden said - and I think he went that rout in saying that because of the laughter! Of course Obama, proves the point by Biden RIGHT, that their community thinks of it as a gay man's disease - as Obama proves with his silly joke!
Obama was playing the crowd... not leading. He obviously doesn't deserve the Presidency if he can't even lead a friendly crowd and takes a swipe at a minority group within this country.
Is he a Republican? Sounds like one. God bless Senator Clinton & Rev. Sharpton for being mature. Sen. Biden was making a HUGE point about there being a STIGMA in the black community that it's only a GAY disease and what does Obama do???? MAKE A GAY SERIES OF JOKES! Amazing.
Obama's joke was funny and the timing was perfect, but it fed into the misconception that AIDS is a strictly gay disease. (I'm not criticizing it; just pointing it out.)
Obama is a bigot and so was everybody in that room who thought that was funny. WTF... this is a pandemic and people bust out laughing about ignorance that's exacerbating the problem.
What I found interesting wasn't the reaction about the joke, but when Biden mentioned that Obama had also gotten a HIV test, a gasp erupted through the audience. Most knew Obama got the HIV test in Africa because it was so publicly done, but the room still gasped at Biden reminding them of that. Meanwhile, Hillary looked like a bobblehead doll nodding the whole time. The black community has some serious issues when it comes to HIV that they need to get a handle on.
I agree with you. And I think it's hypocritical, ignorant, and self-defeating when the black community takes swipes at the gay community when both groups struggle to overcome bigotry. I'd also add that ALL communities have some serious issues when it comes to HIV.
The treatment of gays by the black community is a whole issue in itself. The hispanic community, steeped in Catholism & machismo, has made dramatic inroads in accepting gays. But blacks still treat gays as if they're competition for their minority status instead of as fellow oppressed brothers. Instead of joining forces for the common good, they seek to further subjugate gays in an effort to get a leg up, falsely promoting the idea that being gay is a choice, unlike their skin color.
In the same way blacks like to deny the legitimacy of being gay, they like to deny the legitimacy of AIDS being rampant in their community, regardless of gender or sexuality. This denial is costing lives at an ever growing percentage of their community, while other communities have actually seen their HIV numbers stabilize or even reduce. Biden is to be commended for taking such a bold stance of telling the truth among such a passionately disinterested crowd.
Biden is also to be commended for being one of the first to seriously suggest that Iraq be divided into a federation of states (with a centralized government and shared oil reserves) so as to put an end to the civil war raging there. His plan is gaining more and more relevance as Bush's lack of a plan is exemplifying its overall failure.
