  • What kind of game is this?

The players are actually playing the puck.

Nobody is "finishing the check" and hitting the opponent after he has already passed the puck.

It appears to be a lot of great passing and clever play making.

It appears to be just wide open, exciting hockey.

It's very different from "hockey" that is played these days...

And damn I miss Danny Gallivan.

  • thank u ,,love old games

  • This is when hockey players were the greatest all around.... tough, talented and dedicated. Awesome hockey!

  • Only black-and-white kinescopes exist of CBC's broadcast of the 1967 Finals.

And if my memory serves me correct, the 1967 Finals were the first time NHL hockey had been broadcast in color in Canada, thanks to a color mobile unit borrowed from CBS (which aired weekend gamesof the Finals in the 'States) that was driven up-and-down Route 401 between Montreal and Toronto.

I don't think any tapes of the CBS games still exist.

    BTW, interesting commercial.

  • @altfactor A game between Chicago and Montreal (Jan 21, 1967), I've seen the highlights of it, in colour. The next year, I think the last two periods of a game (Tor and Chi, Sun Mar 10, 1968) CBS did, exists, wtih colour.

  • This brings back so many memories...remember watching every game of the finals with my father...we didnt have a color set but my uncle did and we watched the last three games in living color....The voice of Danny Gallivan forever etched in my memory
