  • i saw this that night ~ recorded it and was in love with graham ever since. <3

  • I love this album. My faves are Back In Time, and Success. But all of them are pretty damn good.

  • PS: Who is that fab bass player?

  • 'Was listening to this great album on the week-end. God Save Graham Parker! One of the best song writers around.

  • Saw Graham Parker about 8 years ago in Omaha - Gigantic bar setting and about 20 people showed up. Pathetic! That was one of the best concerts I've seen. He didn't care and we were nuts for him: Graham: "Small but powerful, come on up!" And we did! One of the smartest, big value per song artists ever. Great lyrics, irrepressible beats. You missed one of the great ones if you don't know Graham - start w/Mona Lisa Smile if you want to check it out. Phenominal album top to bottom.

  • wow I hadn't seen this one before classic Parkerism

  • We use to cover this song in 87 here in Cincy.

  • Every week i discover a new and exciting artist. This week this is Graham Parker. I knew only the name but did know he had released such great songs. I thing i'm going to buy "Mona lisa sister". By the way this performance is fantastic.

  • Awesome song!!!! What a pro!!! Fantastic!!!! Perfect!!! It's even more impressive when you consider that Graham Parker was playing it not with his real band! I love the lyrics!

  • Great song except for the last lyrics .. what was Graham thinking ?? Record is better. Parker has managed to mature and evolve as an artist without discarding the wit, humor and energy that made his work so essential in the first place, UNLIKE ELVIS SELL-OUT COSTELLO who tried to be Cole Porter.

Kennedy was not around, she was cold when she was found .. so cool. just leave out " joan of ark burning at the stake .. cigarette when you get all your fingers take off .. i'm not joking ??? ..

  • @11xzxzxz ok, i apologize... but i was upset about you calling elvis a sell-out, because i love his music (granted, his earlier stuff). you have your opinion, just like everyone else, and i am sorry for attacking you. thank you for your tact in replying to me.

  • Brinzley Schwartz rocks! :D GP rules! (-:

  • Great live performance. Better than the MTV vid.

  • good stuff

  • This is back when Paul Shaffer and the boys played with every band or artist. Used to crack me up when Letterman called the drummer Anton Zip (instead of Fig)

  • This album is probably the most underrated/hidden secret

  • @sigmund5 I agree! genius!

  • Love this album.

Is Brinsley one of rock's most underrated guitarists/sidemen?

  • This song is awesome the lyrics are burning and sizzling -... all your fingers taken off for smoking - GP is the most underated rockstar every

  • Get started, start a fire is the title of this tune.

    thx

  • GP rocks

  • My favorite Parker album, but I think the song is rather weak. Almost has a disco feel with two chords repeated ad nauseum. Where is that airport, incidentally?

  • Disco? Not quite. This would be a pretty straight forward beat. And it's a great song of his.

  • A great song off a great album. You should listen to the album in it's entirety!

  • A classic from the vaults! Happy to see this...

    D

  • Man, this song was an early clue for me that there was another world of great music beyond the top 40. WHFS played this quite a bit. I miss those days of great radio and the waning days of great rock.

  • Great stuff from a great talent.

  • Graham rocks like nobodys bizness! Thanks so much for posting this, a real artist playing real music.

  • graham and brinsley,always a great team
