Your video never fails to bring tears to my eyes. Especially the last picture. I can't wait for that to be me. I'm also a nurse and I'm wondering how difficult it was to find a doctor to follow you after surgery. Did you use a bariatric doctor or your general doctor? I'm planning on having my surgery in July with Dr Joya...I'm excited.
Hi there! I am so happy this is helpful for you. I actually am being followed by my family doctor. I do see the dietician here that follows the bariatric program's patients but thankfully so far have not needed to see one of the surgeons. I had a long chat with my family doctor before hand to ensure he could be an advocate for me and was ok with doing the necessary follow up blood work etc and he was so I was comfy with him following. Good luck I'll look forward to watching you!
The post op care was a little different than how we do things in Canada (based on what we did postop when I worked General Surgery). But you know any concerns or questions I had were answered and I was overall very happy with the care I received. I do advise also taking a laptop if you are able. We found a English to Spanish translation site online and that helped tremendously once or twice when communicating with the Nurses.
I really was blessed. Within a couple of days I honestly did not really even feel like I'd had surgery. Best surgical experience ever! (And I've had a few over the years on my knees and others.)
I don't know if they do plastic surgery at the San Javier Marina hospital, although I know that one of the questions on my questionairre from them initially was was I planning on having any plastic surgery. I do know that there are many people who do go to Mexico for plastic surgery though. I can send an email to Nathalie and find out for you though if you'd like me to. Just send me an email here and I'll do that if you want.
These are great videos of what it is like to have WLS in Mexico. I think many people who have never been to Mexico might be shocked just how nice it is. I personalty adore mexico but I usually am on the cruise ship outside your window!
Oh and PS 12 weeks after surgery I had my first Baja style fish taco. I only ate half but was it ever good!
Congrats to you look forward to watching you on this journey!
