I love how all these people are on the Angels dick they fucking suck Pujols wont save them and CJ will regret leaving. The Rangers have made it to the world series the past two years and have a young team that will continue to get better this is the year they finally do it RFFL
Nolan Ryan and the Rangers top of the line scouting dept. have watched this kid since his career began. They know him inside out.If they believe he will be a success in the US,its probably true.Hes not like your typical Japanese pitcher.he is 6 foot 5, 2 25 lbs.Build for stamina. He has an incredible work ethic and is not distracted by his fame. Can't wait to see him pitch. He just might make other MLB teams jealous for not bidding on the rights to negotiate with him
His breakig ball is sick, right handers cant hit it. He can paint the corners with that 95 mph fastball and he can throw the breaking ball for strikes. Daniels basically eliminated the pujols signing and the loss of cj wilson with one player.
We will see how he does against major league hitters and not class a level hitters. Way too much hype about this guy..I am looking forward to seeing Pujols reach the 3rd deck at the launching pad in Arlington when he gets ahold of one of those flat fastballs up in the zone.
Not hating or anything just stating a fact..these are not even remotely close to major league caliber hitters he is facing. A lot of those strikeout pitches in Japan are either going to be laid off (the ones out of the strikezone) or taken yard (all those elevated off-speed pitches and flat fastballs) in the Major Leagues.
That movement is ungodly. I think I speak for all Mariners fans when I say that I'm not at all excited about him playing in the West. To be fair, any pitcher with a pulse is scary to a Mariners fan.
the rest of the world is still at least 20yrs behind us in baseball we have been playing the sport for what, 125yrs? the best slugger out of japan was matsui, and he wasn't even a top tier slugger so i wont say he is legit until i see him in spring training.
we will see how good he does in the MLB look at who he is pitching the ball to, Japan is where alot of players go to retire as well as ppl cannot hack it in the majors. he is no Stephen Strausburg who mind you had to have tommy johns surgery. I say he blows his arm out in 2 years once he gets a taste of Puljos, Fielder, Jeter etc.
@natsnation37 are you serious? yes it does. he will try to push himself too much, pushing the ball over the plate too much, unless he has great movement on his pitches, but from what i have seen its nothing to shake a stick at.
@Ssddftw are yu blind? the movement on his pitches is amazing. He has a plus curve, fastball, slider, and 2-seamer. Why would pitching in the U.S. make him more succeptable to injury? All pitchers are injury risks and there are no red flags with darvish
i am so pissed the nats didn't even bid on this guy. he's gonna be a stud. i can't wait until a couple years from now when we see darvish vs. strasburg in a WS game
Im an angeld fan and the only bad thing that happene this offseason was the rangers getting darvish. Hes gonna be really good. Whatever, maybe theyll be able to get the wild card now. Im not worried. Nice video but wtf is that music?!?
He's got a legit fastball, but it's all about the location and the breaking pitches with him. He's gonna have one of MLB's best sliders from day one, and he has a good changeup and curveball as well. You add that to his great command of the fastball, and a lot of people are gonna look stupid.
@mariode84 Yea, I can totally understand.. As an American, watching international football games where they score MAYBE twice in multiple hours is SO awful. It's a shame Europeans cant fathom the complexity, preparation, speed and athleticism of professional American football. Maybe then you could see what an exciting sport is. Oh, and if your searching baseball videos, your prior activity must have been more boring to do so... soo don't search for a video and then complain about it.
@ThePoonerBooner 1. who says you have fielder? the nats are gonna get him.

Helllloooo Ranger fans!!! Doesn't it fell so good to finally be out of Tom Hicks' shadow and starting up a new dynasty!! Can't wait to be at Arlington slappin hands with you all in 2012. Welcome to the future Yu..
Does anyone know if he speaks English? The rangers have a couple of Japanese born players on the team, so the transition to America should be easier for him with the Rangers, but it would be helpful working with the team if he already spoke English.
They're pretty close, Yu has more SO. jason has more IP. And Yu is only 25. Career; At 25 Yu has 1259 Strikeouts compared to 28 year old Jason's 1215. 93-38(59%win) record for Yu, 107-57(47% win) for Jason. And his contract!
@Hesam0000 true, the stats don't lie. But I'd be very interested to see if he ends up like Daisuke Matsuzaka, who I found disappointing at best after all the hype. Plus, I always thought that MLB was a better offensive league than Japan's, but time will tell.
@ItsZane True, but considering he has an electric slider in the mid 90s and actually has solid offspeed pitches, I dont see him needing to gas out on many pitches. Unfortunate the Rangers got him but I think this kid is going to be a stud.
My god, look at the movement on the ball. I thought Cliff Lee was nasty. This kid is 6' 5" and he can throw some wicked heat too. Def not a Matsuzaka repeat, not with all those pitches.
I thought the game was just about throwing the ball and catching it, now the guy show some awesome move making the ball change direction,. awesome,...
There are a bunch of reasons to be excited about Darvish-the low walk totals, miniscule ERA, his 200+ IP's every season, but the biggest is that he looks supremely confident. Aces are supremely confident. I want a guy who takes the ball, rams it down your throat, and says "You're not touching this today." His biggest value will be in the playoffs, where that mentality is vital. Ranger fans today are cooing with delight. Welcome to the Rangers, Yu!
I don't deny his talent, he looks amazing and as Rangers fan I'm pumped; I tread with caution just cause Pitchers from Japan/Korea haven't been the greatest success stories in recent memory e.g. Chan Ho Park, Byung-Hyun Kim, Chien-Ming Wang, Daisuke Matsuzaka. These guys get big money and fail miserably. I just hope Yu is the real deal cause I want a freakin title
AA doesnt make poor baseball decisions. If he and the organization spent the money to get Darvish, best believe they think hes worth every cent.
Romero/Darvish 1-2 with a young backend that includes Henderson Alvarez and all the starters we've drafted in years prior. Things are coming together....
In addition, The reason why he might stay in Japan is because he might actually get a better contract RENEWAL (not a FA) than a new contract after posting in the MLB. And in the past he has openly expressed he would prefer to stay in Japan. But I am not ruling out a tenure in the MLB for him. At times it seems he is playing with hitters in Japan. Ive seen him pitch games where he purposefully sat at 90mph but then blew them away at 95mph later. So moving up a league might be of interest to him.
A lot of you have no idea what's really going on. So let me just say that it is NOT a fact he will come to the MLB. Right now it seems a bit more likely he will stay in Japan. And yes, pitchers have a 6 man rotation. BUT this season in late August, Nashida (the Fighters manager) switched to a 5 man rotation to get Darvish more starts (as well as a more solid rotation in general). Also, dont even compare him to CJ. They pitch in 2 very different leagues, how the hell can you even compare them?
@nepatriots77 don't see him being like CJ wilson at all. I think a better comparison would be him and Chris Carpenter. He's just 26 and yes he probably won't be this good after he posts, I think he's got much better stuff than Dice K as he's not fooling people with a "gyro" ball type pitch, he mixes his pitches fairly well
@JMonteroCollector21 No also remember that baseballs in MLB are bigger compared to those from Japan. Also Japanese baseball league has less games each season. Trust me, he'll be lucky to be like CJ wilson.
@nepatriots77 Yes I know that Pitchers in Japan only pitch once a week and have smaller balls but still why are you comparing him to CJ Wilson. They're not alike
@JMonteroCollector21 No you don't get it. Not just once a week but less total games pitched. I am comparing him to CJ wilson because CJ wilson is the best free agent pitcher in MLB right now.
@zRodolfozz ya dude im with you on that ive been on the yu darvish bandwagon for about 2 months now. I fan text 103.3 and 105.3 about him when they talk baseball free agency he's just to good to pass up on. This guy is not like Dice K in Boston this guy is 6'5 and has 7-10 pitches some more solid then others of course. The posting system in Japan is a load of crap though...so im not so optimistic as I was 2 months ago .
Really hope the Rangers get him since we are in need of a star pitcher who can deliver all the time not like CJ Wilson who fail apart in the post season
I love how all these people are on the Angels dick they fucking suck Pujols wont save them and CJ will regret leaving. The Rangers have made it to the world series the past two years and have a young team that will continue to get better this is the year they finally do it RFFL

Salazardnl 1 month ago 11
Darvish excelled in Japan where:
the strike zone is HUGE
they use a smaller ball, made of different material
pitchers only pitch once every 7-8 days
the hitters aren't as good as over here
Plus, playing in the league's most hitter friendly park doesn't help as well.
Expect an average pitcher, around a 3.50-4.00 ERA. Big waste of money when the rangers could have been pursuing prince.
TopTenCrew 1 month ago
@TopTenCrew
The plate is a little wider, but the players on avg are smaller,so the strike zone has it's own pros and cons.
Japan is increasing the ball size every year to make it the same we use in the US.
They do pitch once a week, but they also pitch longer, in 126 starts he had 50 complete games, 15 shut outs, wow.
Hitters are not as good but they still compare to our triple a, and a ERA under 2 in AAA means your a bad ass.
Arlington is hard to pitch but we have awesome defense.

In short, let's see what happens. Good video by the way. : )

He won't be this good in MLB. Look at dicek. At best, hell be like cj Wilson
nepatriots77 3 months ago
@nepatriots77 don't see him being like CJ wilson at all. I think a better comparison would be him and Chris Carpenter. He's just 26 and yes he probably won't be this good after he posts, I think he's got much better stuff than Dice K as he's not fooling people with a "gyro" ball type pitch, he mixes his pitches fairly well
JMonteroCollector21 3 months ago
@JMonteroCollector21 No also remember that baseballs in MLB are bigger compared to those from Japan. Also Japanese baseball league has less games each season. Trust me, he'll be lucky to be like CJ wilson.
nepatriots77 3 months ago
@nepatriots77 Yes I know that Pitchers in Japan only pitch once a week and have smaller balls but still why are you comparing him to CJ Wilson. They're not alike
JMonteroCollector21 3 months ago

Azicpok1 3 months ago
Really hope the Rangers get him since we are in need of a star pitcher who can deliver all the time not like CJ Wilson who fail apart in the post season
