@xxxkhafanxxx refer to my video "making my custom fiberglass box" - it has photos, the materials i used, the process, etc. if you want to read and know more about this stuff then i refer everyone to biberglassforums-dot-com learn everythign you need to know on how to build a box there. any other q's, just ask
@psycopyro001 thanks bro, took a lot of planning, drawing and testing to be able to use all the available space I could, but still have a trunk! (That was a huge goal because this ride is my dd). Also, going sealed cut down on around 75% of what it would have been otherwise.
@tevanbradley there were mdf rings fiberglassed into the box from the very beginning, I drilled pilot holes and used t-nuts on the back side for machine screws that held the subs on. the t-nuts let me be able to screw and unscrew the subs when ever i wanted to, not stripping out the wood.
@tevanbradley if you watch my other movie concerning this sub box, you'll see that foberglassed in are 1" thick mdf rings for the subs to sit in. Then, holes were drilled out and T-Nuts used on the back-side to keep from stripping out the wood.
nice job i got 2 type x on 2 pdx 1000.1 146.1 on the USCAi meter. I run trunk 1001-2001 and super stock 0-1800. What do you do if you compete? What is your spec on the box air space mine are 1.7 cu. per woofer.
@TheCajunr6 ive done some competitions, nothing that great, never really got into it. my setup really isn't designed to run at a certain feq anyway, I think I would have not gone with a fiberglass box if i did, and it probably would have been ported, tuned in the mid 40s I think. the box has 1.1 cube feet per sub chamber.
@edh12993 this one is tons better... IF the decks had the same capabilities, I would totally go with the double-din. The one draw back is it doesn't "hide away" so that it can be seen/stolen a whole lot easier. but, i'm going to make some kind of fake cover, with magnets, using an old stock double-din deck, then covering up my unit when i'm not in the car.
but the one i have now i like much, much more, not even considering the options and capabilities!
i've looked at others but they come up and over the clock and hazard switch. its HUGE! but ur's like fits niice and snug in there like it came stock or sumthn lol im looking to get rid of my '03 kenwood
@CH33Z3B4LL3R It's a Pioneer AVIC 910BT. Basically, it's just a double-DIN sized screen, non-motorized. I'll be you've got the "motorized, flip-out" kind... like i did in one of my previous movies (new car preview). And yea, it does cover up everything... this one is the same, just more options, and doesn't flip out.
yea well the car was originally my moms andd at the time mu uncles owned an aftermarket & performance shop so they redid her whole audio system. the motorized flip out broke so i bought a cheap kenwood basic A-trak bcuz i have a 6-cd changer in my trunk. but i asked bcuz im looking for a new radio but this time not flip out cuz the motor shorted put on the 1st one
well, there is the 1/2" mdf covered in carpet. that's bolted in, not resting on the amps, sitting about 1/4"-1/2" off the faceplate itself. inside that cavity behind the facade is a 3" computer fan, wired to the accessory line. so air is moving back there, and have not had any problems with the things yet. the amps have temp readings on the front, and they haven't gotten any warmer than when horizontal. i was a little concerned about the vertical, but guys mount upside down all the time. so nope
How did you make that box?

@jamiemadrox07 I love them, still have yet to find a 12" I prefer over these. A little power hungry, but stout performers!

do your amps over heat at all with carpet over them?
