I just installed these on my bike today, I took the fairings completely off though, and yes you do have to lift up that plastic around the instrument panel to get to that second screw underneath.

Great help, thanks. I ordered the same items for the same Bike, although I have the 2006 model.

Just a head's up for everyone else, you need to take off the windshield and the plastic around the speedo to get to the hidden screws allowing you to take the fairing all the way off.

Did you ever put that pain in the ass screw back into the upper fairing? If not have you noticed any difference in vibration or anything like that?

I ended up buying a new screw and replacing it when i took the instrument area apart and silenced that stupid fairing buzz. then sold the bike for $5650

Yup lot of hardware.. I had to replace both side side panels when i crashed my bike.. Once u take the plastics off once. u will remember how to do it again in half the time u did the first..
