The only difference is she carries her tough attitude better than the original Bulma, because the scriptwriter is better at writing women than Akira was.

She was less detestable, in that she didn't bully her friends around, and didn't want to waste a wish on a flipping BOYFRIEND of all things. Bulma in the movie is probably 20-21, while the original was 16, and unlike Akira's Bulma, she actually ACTED like an adult. There are still base attributes of Bulma in the movie, but they're rounded out better.

Akira Toryama himself said to look at the movie as an alternate universe, as if things had happened differently (basically, if Gohan lived longer). The glaring differences were going to be explained in Piccolo's monologue, but Fox made them cut it out and save it for the sequel, because they clearly trusted the fans more than they should have. They were going to explain properly Saiyans and Namekians and Oozaru

The story was made to be easy to understand and follow, while giving every character an individuality that could easily be related to. Whether its Goku's thirst for battle, or Vegeta's hunger for supremacy, the characters all have depth. With every passing saga, it grows more and more apparent. The fact is, I walked into the theatre expecting MINOR differences, not something I couldn't recognize.

I was so irritated that they just gave her blue streaks instead of the full thing but I saw an official photo of where they did put her in a blue wig and dressed in her movie outfit and i'll admit it didn't really look all that great.. but it may have been cause its hard to find GOOD realistic looking wigs =/ so i guess the streaks were better.

I think they kinda mixed Launch with Bulma and Krillen with Goku. Which its kinda horrible that they couldnt get the actors because everyone knew this would be tarrible.
