i find floats like 100x harder to receive than top spin serves because all you have to do for top spin serves is position yourself behind the ball and watch it go to the setter. then again I play as a setter so yea . . .
Our team made it in the semi finals in volleyball but some people on our team SUCK!! At serving (I'm not one of them btw :P) and when they serve, the ball ends up going BACKWARDS!! Ugh!! Sometimes I don't ask why...
i found that the best way to jump serve is to do it like an attack but contact the ball above your head no up and in front of you like an attack. that way your hand snaps and it drops suddenly in the back row
wellls im in grade 8, and i play volleyball for my school. all the girls in my team are realllly good servers but they just have no power, After alot a training i tought myself to do all three of them serves, if you just keep trying you will get it ayee, it toook abit of practise but you will get there (:
a jump-float serve served in the 8th or 9th meter of the field is non-passable because it comes the receivers shoulder high and they must use fingers which is very hard taken into regard the velocity of the ball. They can receive it only by retreating few steps back but then you can use short serve to an instant as. Another usefull tip is to serve it cross court or diagonal as we say. I use this tactics in a first league pro volleyball and have 6 as per game ratio. Hope i help anyone.
who said anything about feel, of course there different styles with a different feel and slight weight variation, but there is no designated women's or men's volleyball, you mental midget.
The Molten Pro Touch is the official NCAA and USAV men's volleyball while the Molten Super Touch is the official NCAA and USAV women's volleyball, The only other balls are the tachikara super soft but thats only approved for high school and then the mikasa indoor ball that's used for both men and women in the olympics but i dont think anyone here is an olympian so theyre different for men and women for everyone else
The float is pretty much irrelevant now that you can set the ball on the serve. It's funny how they really dumbed the game down so that tall people can actually play.
Just stay quick on your feet and you can set just about anything except a monster monster jump serve.
i play volleyball but im in middle school and im on the seventh grade team but how do u like throw the ball up at the perfect time to jump up and spike? i dont get it bc i always wanted to know how to do that but i dont think at my schol they wont let u do that i dont think but i want to know how. I can only do the regular spike and im excellent at that but i want to be better D; help!!!
Can someone pls help me with the jumping overhand serve i cant do it!!! im not even a good overhand server and im the fricking team captain (im awesome at setting) so help?

For it to drop faster and/or for it to move randomly in the air you need to put power behind it :l

in the flot service the ball DOESN'T rotate
it's compulsory for the flot movement

well the jump serve is all about rhythm. and practice!
float serve is irrelevant in mens vball but great for womens.
gayNOTsucky 3 years ago
i dont agree with you at times floaters can be used regardless of mens or womens vball if done properly it can be very effective

It's also good to note.. the mens ball is alot heavier and won't float nearly as much as a womens ball.
johnnyc3po 3 years ago
you're retarded... it weighs the exact same

there is no men's or women's ball in volleyball, it's the same ball.

umm, if you are telling me a soft touch is the same thing as a pro touch, you are absolutely retarded.
Pro touch has a totally different feel.

a good floater thats served deep is actually quite hard to return regardless of the fact that you can set it
