he is very impressive, but he needs to work on emotion into his pieces. he needs to bring out more of the piece he is playing. other than that, he's good to go.
If the late, revered Claudio Arrau is not reading this, I think the mordents in this piece are best played before the beat. I know this is not politically correct orthodoxy in this day and age but I think sometimes a practical approach is the best. ... [ ... btw the pedal sustains the fourth last chord (reason: this is what Chopin marked and it also fits in with his almost invariable practice in similar circumstances).
You played this beautiful Chopin Impromptu well and brought out the joy and pathos of the heavenly middle section. In two or three spots I play an accacciatura rather than a three-note mordent. I hope I can be forgiven. In these spots I could see you were stressed in trying to fit it in. It does not fit in and never will, more especially if, by any chance, one were to follow Chopin's insanely fast metronome marking. Ditto in the case of the Mozart Sonata in C major K? 1st movt.
always an honor to listen to such beautiful playing at such a young age. no doubt he is super talented, but i also want to congratulate his teacher, as talent alone is not enough to produce this level of playing. of course congratulations to the family, too, for supporting his music education. aren't we blessed with so many young talents on youtube who inspire us beyond words
Charlie's had 4 piano teachers as we moved a lot. We had special page set up on his website and gallery for his teachers. I've also mentioned his teacher in some of his video comments.
Amazingly expressive. Charlie's touch, and his sensitivity and interpretation, have been maturing at a rate that's hard to keep up with. Beautifully done!

Exactly. Without an excellent teacher, it's very hard to do this complex piece properly.

I also think it is a better performance, more personnal, with beautiful phrasing and sonority.
Charlie has made so many progress in expressing his feelings. As for the technique, it almost never was a problem for him.......
