Depends in the individual dog as with any breed. There are 'hearing ' paps and other assistance paps. They can be very intelligent and learn quickly. One of mine was a therapy dog.

Give her plenty of things she is allowed to chew - hide sticks, nylabone bones etc. Mine also love clean calves hooves. Supervise, as sometimes large pieces come off the hide chews. Some shed more than others - no more black clothes!!Have fun and enjoy her.

They do shed a generous amount. Nothing like a husky or lab shedding though.

Mine isn't too much of a chewer but she does like to chew the walls. That's about the only thing she'll chew and she has tons of chew toys.

Hardest part of housebreaking a pap is that when they have to go you get little if any warning so you have to watch carefully for mannerisims to catch them before they go. Our female will ring a bell attached to the door to let us know she has to go if we fail to notice her by the door.

I own two paps and that's definitely a pure pap. The fluffiness is pretty normal during their puppy stage.

You're talking about his blaze, the white stripe that runs down the middle of his face and head. While it is desirable for the blaze to be continuous, it's not necessary in the definition of a "purebreed" pap. At the age he's at, he's not got his full adult looks or coat yet and the blaze changes vastly during the puppy stages. It's quite likely it will grow out.

She is definately a pedigree papillon. I bred her myself and she has won at shows. Not all paps have such lovely coats.

Forgot to say paps can have a 'solid head' with no blaze at all. The breed standard says a narrow blaze is 'desirable' but not 'essential.' The blaze represents the body of the 'butterfly'. So a pap can be pure bred with or without a blaze. Hope that clarifies for you.

I have a papillon! She is 2 now and I remember the first day we got her! She was sooo scared in her crate that she peed, then she ran under our deck and we had to fish her out! It was rough, but now she is the most perfect dog ever :)

Hi, Poppy still had her puppy coat as I expect yours has. Difficult to tell what the adult coat will be like until it grows in. Paps don't have full coat and fringing until 2 or 3 years!

Hi, difficult to say but most are fully grown around 8 months although some go on growing for longer. Most paps are between 8 and 11 inches tall. The one in the video is 16 months and 10 inches tall now.

Temperaments vary greatly. Spend lots of time with any papillon you are thinking of buying. Get the right one for you and you will find a lovely companion. Some like to be active and always on the go, while others are real lap dogs. Good luck.

A friend had a papillon and Louis was the best friend I've ever had -- very friendly, loyal, smart, attentive, enthusiastic, playful, gentle and he loved everybody. Louis loved going for walks (long walks). I met another one and he was somewhat reserved and not as friendly, so I guess it depends. I wouldn't hesitate to get one, so if you have a chance to rescue one, I think this would be a good choice.
