Everyone wants attention and a fast buck; when you get on the subway you want a ride, not a "forced" performance. This is absolutely the last damn thing that I want to see at the end of the day-2 hip hop jackasses with their boom box blairing going up and down the aisle.
this is quality, to do flips an dance moves like that on a moving subway takes skill, i think the people on the train need to stop being so ignorant an liven up, i went on the subway last week while i stayed in new york and found the subways to be as quite as a libary, i wish i seen some entertainment like this :D
this is from casting actually. this outtake is a little longer than what you'll see in the movie. and the fellow in the black w/ the beard is part of an undercover job with the black acrobats.. the dubbed in baby cry at :33 is actually an adult woman who gets paid a lot of $ to sound like that.
This shit should be prohibited in the subway! I see this shit in the subways almost everyday and I saw a few incidents where the dancer almost stomped on a baby or almost kicked an elderly woman! I don't mind seeing it in the streets but NOT in a subway with that many people so close! What if they actually injure someone like I saw some almost did?!
I'm not saying they're not talented, but not everyone appreciates it because after a stressful day at work the last thing you want is someone blasting a radio in a closed subway car with someone jumping around with their feet missing your face by inches.
As a New Yorker..... there is a reason what you see in this video is illegal. Yes, they scared the baby and that is why the baby started crying. .
Street performers can get a license and when they do they find out where they can and can't perform -- and on the train isn't allowed.
I will gladly open my wallet for a licensed street performer in an appropriate location, but never on the train. The people riding the train as if nothing is happeneing are doing the right thing.
@SecretSquirrel2010 well i have a question why do people always look at whats legal and whats illegal. instead of looking for that u should look at what truly art is. they arent doing anything wrong lol. now if they were selling drugs it would be a different story. idk why people put a crime on dancing and street performing its uncivil also so check yourself man. this is art homie!!
@snapppp2 Maybe the first couple times you see stuff like this on the train it might seem like art. I see rather mediocre street performers creating a nuissance on the train. Even if they were better I'd still say it is too much of a nuissance and safety hazard to be appropriate.
I'm from chicago and riding the subway and being sealed underground in a smelly tin can with a bunch of strangers is uncomfortable enough. Having guys jump and flip around a foot in front of my face in the only open area left is something I wouldn't need. Its a cool act though and I'd check it out if it was outside. I think the baby cried because it almost got kicked in the face....
Man i used to see these guys literally everyday on the 6 and 4/5 sometimes. I spotted them on the 7 like 2 weeks ago. They usually have 3 or 4 people with them though.
No kidding - it breaks my heart that you guys are SO talented, and you're audience were reading a paper... TV has so much to answer for. Great skills guys!
i geuss that if you grew up there or lived there for a while it would get tiresome. kinda like living in arizona for my whole life has pretty much made me dislike sunny days.
You obviously havent been out of your small backward crosseyed country town. Most orthodox jews in NYC look like that. Explore the world for a change, youll learn a lot.
WTF is a bagel nose??? Geez, you whites think of the most ignorant shit to say about all types of national minorities. Whites have a offensive code word for every ethnicity. Why is that? How fucking immature and adolescent is that? Grow up idiot.
This is how the black youths make money in NYC. How else are they to survive? Anyway, the dancing changed a little. Too much human interaction, unlike before.
The thing about street performers in New York is that there's just so many of them that you can't give them all money. And that's where tourists come in.
Some people are just bitter. Those sour eggs just sitting there looking stupid, pretending they are so caught up in important affairs and deep meditation, they don't even deserve to see talent. Katette got it right; zombies.
its not just people in ny, there are street performers everywhere, and there are too many to give all of them money. besides, these guys shouldn't be performing on the subway, thats too dangerous, they should try to get a good job, or at least do their performance on the street instead of a moving vehicle
once i was coming back from school on the 7 train in like new york and stuff and some weird guy comes stands right in front of me with like a mexican sombraro thingy and like a guitar and then starts singing and stuff and i was like what the hell?...
Busking is very common in big towns. We do it for many reasons, attention, practice, and the assurance that we'll get a good crowd because the only ones who watch really want to see it so there's no hecklers.
They're really good, but it's actually illegal to perform a busking routine on a train or any place that an audience has no choice but to watch. In the station it's fine but not on the train.
True, but all the same, it's regarded as harassment since they are a distraction that people will naturally be forced to watch, I didn't write busking law, I just work around it :) I'm a busker (street performer) and I'm so sick of all the laws regarding it because people see most of us as nothing but common beggars.
A panhandler just sits there shaking his cup. A busker EARNS thier money. It's really no different from a stage performer. You buy a ticket, which gives them money. Also, a panhandler does what he does because he's either lazy or has no choice. A busker does what they do because they love it.
I think it is different. If someone wants to see a show/act etc., they pursue it and buy a ticket. They have the choice to see it. Street performers/"buskers" perform in public so people see it whether they want to or not. It still doesn't seem the same to me. Anyway, in what way do you perform? What is your skill?
Oh, and after this post I'd rather not argue this further, but a huge reason we do what we do is because of this connection that you just can't get on a stage.
No, they're ignoring them because they're New Yorkers. I'm a busker (street performer) and usually if you don't politely ask for a tip you don't get one.
