  • From what album is it song?

  • "So please, baby...so, please...save the last dance for me" GREAT! LINDO!

  • this is amazing

  • All hail the great Lou Reed, He is one of the all time greats of the music industry, if people do not like then why bother listening. Viewing a clip is about appreciation not about bagging the crap out of the clips.

  • lulu sucked

  • wow he's pretty good I've never heard this before... beautiful but wth mixed with metallica... sounds like jim morrison got resurected and decided to make shit for music.. no offence on jim , love the doors

  • it's like listening to falling in love

  • @BetaDelamor lol I will use this sentence in my book, it's the best ever (like Lou Reed's version of this song is the best)

  • Damn, it's wonderful.

  • Essa versão do Lou Reed é muito original

  • was obsessed when i heard this on the doc pomus tribute album

  • @69jenniferlove Loved that record! Listen to it a lot. "Viva Las Vegas" too. Roseanne Cash is Great on there too.

  • people dont like this? the mind boggles. 43 angry metalica fans maybe

  • FUCK YES

  • I'm in tears , like always wen I hear Lou Reed..

  • I am the table!

  • @Bercikistan

Fuck off. Yeah, I'm a Metallica fan too but I like Lou Reed also. But together ?? it doesn't work, it's like chocolate and chicken. Both are awesome but SHOULD be separate,,,

  • 47 people are now new Loe Reed lovers

  • Shoot, you could put some banjo right in there and it'd be perfect.

  • che film che canzone!

  • Lou Reed will rock for time being!Ty Lou I adore your music! You're rock and roll KING!Cheers

  • devi pensare solo all tua famiglia, parlo con Voi odino il vessillifero: percdhè-Odlo se omo ebbe o amor a roma o ebbe omo esolido, - perchè- I topi non avevanoo nipoti-.

  • Too good

  • lost highway

  • Geez, I just fell in love with my boyfriend again listening to this song.

  • @MrMonsterstiffy why are you here?

  • @MrMonsterstiffy

Lol THAT'S A GREAT REASON TO STOP SINGING

  • @MrMonsterstiffy wonder how much excellent music we would have missed out on if "fucking Junkies" just stopped singing? I dont promote drug use but it has certainly shaped the face of music, and not in a bad way. go try to find some "clean" music

  • @foomanjew48 christian rock bands ftw!

  • wow...really first time ive heard this version, i will never listen to another

  • I think the Drifters had a time machine and covered this version.

  • This version rocks.

  • Lost Highway! Love both Reed and Lynch! It's so sweet and so dark...

  • @lordlevyinger25 is it Lost Highway OST ?!

  • @lordlevyinger25 yes it is ! I got my answer !David Lynch is awesome , the song was so good too !

  • sounds a lot like Cake

  • i heard this song for the first time in losty highway of david lynch. i liked it and i knew it was lou.... that voice is unique.

  • I actually went back and watched lost highway sober since I was zonked the first time I had seen it years ago....think it made more sense to me then than it does now...

  • RUINED IT!!!

  • They're needs to be a version of this on itunes that doesn't involve forcing me to buy the soundtrack to "Lost Highway." You'd think a song as good as this would be easier to find.

  • 22 people mistaken the dislike button for the download button!!!!!!

  • So different from the Drifters but so cool. I love it !

  • Who gives a fuck how many 'dislikes' are on a video anyway? I don't even look. All that matters is if *I* like it or not.

Fuck everybody else! And you should feel the same.

  • @TheProgNerd Good man, someone on here who actually is smart on the internet

  • @TheProgNerd no fuck u!

  • @TheProgNerd kids care, children care, adults not so much, young teens care (young teens whose musical tastes are suspect anyway)

  • i dont like his musics but this one is awesome.

  • Cool so someone is "angry" that Lou Reed doesn't get his due.

His song style is taken from Walt Whitman, and Lou Reed would and HAS agreed. There is no "talking shit" about a great urban poet in the SAME tradition as bob dylan. They did different things at about the same time.

Why are you people retarded? Why do you not realize his "sad song" is a cover...and why don't you care about music.

Talk about him like you talk about Van Morrison....Do us all a favor and stop being stupid.

  • i don't get it when people actually take the time to shitcan something they don't 'like' on youtube. If you don't like it ,fine, but do you actually think any of us that do, give a fuck what you think???

  • Only Lou could take taffy and twist it into sweet, sweet brittle.

  • @nettlehart Oh my, how well put. :D I love that!

  • Hey Bob Dylan's not such a bad singer after all!

  • Long Live Lou. reminds me of high school

  • Pretty nice song! It remains me of Lost Highway :)

  • huge. 21 heads with no ears.

  • class song and the great lou reed

  • great cover... it sounds gooooood n_n

  • @HIDEOUSLYOURS Nah, I disagree. This sounds great. If you're going to cover a song you better make it sound different. Make it sounds like you.

  • What's the album this is from?

  • @NintendoSegaSonyGuy

It's on the 'Lost Highway' soundtrack and the 'Till the Night Be Gone: A Tribute to Doc Pomus' album too.

  • This is a great cover! I've been a fan of it for a loooooong time.

  • @666slink who made the original?

  • @Johannaandersson13 Jay and The Americans. I used to hear it on the oldies station all the time.

  • @666slink No they didn't. It was Ben E. King and The Drifters in 1960.

  • @tauroscorp It might've been. Unfortunately his version seems to never get played.

  • This is such a SEXY version! My girlfriend loves it! I think it's alright too! Cheers!

  • @apeirson of coarse it's a sexy version it's Lou Reed everything that man does is sexy!

  • To capture one of those silent, inappropriate moments two people share that they're not supposed to in certain company is brilliant. And hot. I can't say I enjoyed every aspect of this occasionally incoherent movie, but that scene is one in a million. Balthazar's blue collar, over-obvious, longing, and Patricia's reciprocation to a much lesser degree. You can see it never moves beyond lust for her, and she can squash him at any given moment. She knows this before they've even spoken once.

  • <3

  • Seriously, his sound is perfect. Reed hates the Beatles (and other English groups of their day) -- this is the music that he prefers. 1950 Americana.

  • he sounds like he's knockin on deaths door

  • Best friggin version EVER!!!

  • 2:22

  • The best!!!!

  • Sorry, no go for me on this. I never advocate druggies, though, in context, this might be in 'the vein' of irony. I'll pass....

  • @Khultan

    Obligatory Bill Hicks Quote:

"You see, I think drugs have done some good things for us. I really do. And if you don't believe drugs have done good things for us, do me a favor. Go home tonight. Take all your albums, all your tapes and all your CDs and burn them. 'Cause you know what, the musicians that made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years were rrreal fucking high on drugs. The Beatles were so fucking high they let Ringo sing a few tunes."

  • @StuntFetus Burn them? Really? What are you high, telling me to burn my shit? I KNOW they were stoned out of their minds when they revealed their creative process.

  • wow... no comparison to the Ben E King and the drifters version... this one kinda sucks in that regard...

  • I personally like the misfits cover more.

  • @Unorthodox6391 I hope thats a joke. The Jerry Only-fits are shit. They raped Runaway by Del Shannon.

  • @CDeanN Listen man, i just said i personally like that cover more. give me a break would you?

  • Sterling played on this track, beleiiiiive...

  • peos

  • @ASTEGOS77 poulaki

  • 13 people clearly do not understand ultra-epic fucking great timeless music

  • Comment removed

  • sterling morrison.. genius!

  • @willy12345ization is that him playing i thought he was with the vu

  • The guitar sounds like Scotty Moore. (Elvis' original guitarist).

  • what an awesome find on youtube!! Such a cool rendition of this song - I love Lou!

  • anyone who sings knows that lou reed is a very talented singer who happens to have a somewhat inaccessible minimalist approach

i dare anyone to attempt a vocal with such a powerfully saturated middle and low tones

big belted notes with too much vibrato are fine (and lou can do those too, like on heavenly arms) but they arent the only signs of vocal talent

now joe meek, that guy literally could not sing, and he still made great songs

    lou reed forever!

  • Unbelievable interpretation wish I could think like that

  • better than origanal any body else got any ideas sex pistals better my way

  • is this from the velvet underground shit?

  • @backflip369159 naw lou on his own

  • @Thepast2012 Only if you help me

  • Guy sounds like a retard

  • so who's the style copy-cat; reed or bowie?

  • @laredoland both iggys in there as well

  • sweeter than wine

  • This version of this wonderful classic tune literally made me throw up. This dickhead should have his microphone shoved up his ass.

  • @0manoscar

This version is great. It's a great blues interpretation of a great song, and since you don't believe people should have different opinions, why don't you go and listen to the original, and leave us alone.

  • @0manoscar I agreed at first with your view of this. Consider though that Reed was in a real Brooklyn, well Long Island maybe, doo wop group back in the 1950s. He ain't clowning. It's an idiosyncratic take on a song I love in its Drifters and even Jay and The Americans versions, and The Misfits actually, too, but give it another spin here.

  • @strandwolf I gave it another spin. This time it only made me dry heave. That doesn't mean I like it any better, I just haven't had lunch yet.

  • @0manoscar haha If I could find you on Facebook I'd endeavor to friend you. You obviously require constant supervision due to a paucity of commonsense.

  • @strandwolf "Paucity"? Wow!! It's not every day you encounter someone with an actual vocabulary on YouTube!! How serendipitous!!

  • its interesting how the guy can't sing, yet we complain about how rappers nowadays can't sing. You olds folks weren't any better than todays rappers.

  • Comment removed

  • @wtfismycar

I think his singing is awesome, and at least the subject matter isn't bitches, hoes, guns, drugs, niggas, etc.

  • cool version.

  • the real song is by the drifters

  • When the guitar kicks in @2:48, it's like sonic honey.

  • As great as the Lost Highway clip is, finally hearing this cover in its entirety is better... maybe... it is a phenomenal scene.

  • he is sooo sexy and handsome and good-looking...his style,his voice,his eyes..Goddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • this is actually a tribute to Doc Pomus. Pomus wrote this song while working at the Hill and Range Music Co. -Lou Reed admired him as a songwriter and as a fellow musician from Brooklyn, NYC.

  • people need to stop the bitching. do you honestly think lou reed would try to sound the drifters ?

  • just because you don't like his voice doesn't make it terrible.

he's the coolest guy ever, anyway.

  • not as good as drifters

  • Stupid Fag!!!

  • I love the guitar style in this, can anyone tell me what you would call this finger picking technique or style?

  • the guitar fabulus great lou

  • great thank you

  • DEEP...................................

  • the trick is to go to rippify (dot) com to find this mp3.

  • Wow Wow Wow! Never heard this version before! Brilliant! Lou Reed covering King is just...wow!! Haha!

  • @tbaumgar1 i don't know if i would call this a cover of King since King didn't actually write the song, music or lyrics. Everyone keeps saying this is a drifters cover, but it's not. They just played the song. They didn't make it.

  • @ToxicBrainSludge I hate to get petty, but I will always consider this a Drifters song since they were the first to record it. Aretha Franklin didn't write Respect, but that's her song. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. This is a great song, period

  • @tbaumgar1 fair enough. but, they still didn't write it. facts are facts. they are a great group but writing and composing a song is a whole other thing from going into a studio, with a producer even helping arrange what you do, and being the guy who actually writes a song. they are completely different skills. typically i might even be inclined to think the way you do, but the fact is that this version appeared on a tribute album to Doc Pomus, the creator. It wasn't a drifters tribute album.

  • when you idiots influence culture as much as this man you can talk shit..

  • You can't say a cover by Lou is one of his best songs ever.

  • sexy poetic!!

  • love this song

  • Great guitar but Lou Reed can't sing ;-) Anyway I like the song very much!

  • can anybody tell me who plays the great guitar part of this song? I really love it!

I mean the whaaaaaaaa part, not the rithmic one

    thanks

  • If that weren't unmistakably Lou singing, I never would have believed he sang this. Love it!

  • If you're going to ruin a song...ruin one of yours.

  • The only man that could turn an ultra classic track into rock gold, mined from the streets of the Village... Lou Reed

  • Terrible.

  • I'm sorry but you are just wrong. wrong wrong

  • I love the Drifters version, but this is a very nice variation. I really like the guitar work.

  • SIDERALE

  • It was a magic moment when Lou Reed was born.

  • if I ever let my guard down and got married, this would be the song we'd dance to.. The magic moment. Ultimate rendition of a wonderful tune!

  • sunset, endless roads, THE girl by my side and lou at full volume........

    damn, where are my keys?

  • Great makes me feel like an Artist in my own right

  • teeeeeeeemazo

    adelante!!!!
