yes it is nice  fencing sistem but european schools of fencing like german longsword shool kunst des fechtens is by funkcionality and estthick great like these oriental fighting sistems.. say that japanese katana is the greatest cold weapon is lie.. cos european weapons can confront it and stand against it...

@bretonilaord Yeah I find it pretty annoying when people say it's the best. I practice kendo and this crap comes back to bite ME in the ass even though I've never said it.

@ihaterobbie123 I practice europeans fighting sistems for some years.. I have never problem with confrontacion asian sistems.. I dont say that europeans sistems are the best... but for me yes .. I practice that fighting sistems in sparing too... and not like the sport.. all of theese words that i write just want to say , that europeans sistems are so good as asian ...

@bretonilaord people who say one style is better than another is a good sign that they themselves don't train lol. I myself haven't trained in weapons fighting, but I have trained with empty hands.

The shortest and most accurate way to generalize fighting is by fighting types

The power fighter, the tricky fighter, the timing fighter, and the evasive fighter. The four types combined makes up to a total of 16 types of fighters.

And this holds true for all styles of martial arts.

@bretonilaord The main difference is that the european style's defence and attacking are separated from each other, but the japanese style has these two combined, u can be protecting and attacking at the same time imho

@KTool666. you are not right, in german longsword fighting system kunst des fechtens are lot of atacks that are defens too, some example , atack zwerch haw is atack against head of enemy and it is defens against all ober haws other example is situacions like ober haw gegen ober haw , oberhaw gegen zorn haw , you can see that these primal atack are the defence too .. there are lot of other aexamples if you want to read...

this is why the katana remains the worlds greastest weapon. not because of itself, but because of what you become with it. killing machine? warrior poet? philosopher, bodyguard, butcher, ronin? noble even. its all in there, you decide what comes out.

To look at any weapon and say "He can accomplish anything because he is practiced in using such and such" is foolish. The same could be said for any weapon. For example: If i used a bowie knife instead of a willow leaf saber i would be the same despicable bastard i am now. Just with different steel. IfEdgar allen poe used a pistol he would still be a poet.

Honor is in the man. Not the weapon.

@SkyDragonThe i totally hear ya there, a rose by any other name, i guess i was injecting my opinion that the katana is one of the most elegant weapons ive ever seen or touched. all weapons, tools, ect are extensions of ourselves, some are more versatile, poe used a pen, which can generally say more than a gun, however the gun is louder.
