I have seen many Scottish musicians who celebrate their heritage through music. All are different, all have different levels of talent but they all make money. Are they also selling their souls? or are they just doing what they love?
Whatever the level of talent, whatever the views of some people, people have the right to listen to any band because it makes them smile, dance, be part of something, and for a little time, just a little, that the world is full of negativity.
Selling their souls? We watch these videos of this band because we enjoy them. If we saw mockery in their eyes, we would not enjoy them, now, would we?
Selling their souls or no. To see them live is an event. They do the music they do to spread the history of our heritage. Yes they do make money. They have to they come the the states from Caledonia.
hey fiddleblaze fuck you I was there at the g.m.h.g Albannach is a very talented band it may not be hard for one person to play that as one person but five or six simultaneously takes tons of practice .what band do you play for numbnuts,

Just awfull!! sorry.
No music here whatsoever. A seven year old could batter the drums like that. Its not hard to do.
Very very contrived, not all Scots hark back to the days of Culloden, some of us have computers and TV's. But if it makes you popular and gets you lots of cash in America, then go ahead and sell your souls.
Obviously not all Scots concentrate in the past. But just because they are honoring their heritage by playing amazingly, which I would like to see you attempt to play the drums like they are playing or the bagpipes, and until you do you shouldn't criticize someone with more talent in one hand than you have in your whole body. And because they are doing something they love doesn't mean they are selling their souls.
You obviously have no idea about traditional or folk music. I advise you stay away from Glasgow this week as Celtic Connections festival is taking over the whole town.
Traditional wedded to the wail of humanity to just let us be human ... that is Albannach ... they are what we are today ... the past wedded to the present.. go with it.
Aye Big Davy always tells stories, I'm surprised he didn't mention his new book or that he walked in the last footsteps of Wallace from Scotland to Lundin. Oh Aye, Albanach will be at the commemoration of Bannockburn on the 21 june this year.
Och well, I'll just have to go and see them again then,
WOW!! Looking forward to seeing their performance 29 Sept at Williamsburg Scottish Festival. Saw them 2 or 3 years ago at GMHG as Clann an Drumma. Fantastic.

I still haven't figured out how to describe their show at Grandfather Mountain last week.
You'd just have to see them live, or maybe buy their Live recording and blow your speakers, because that's the only way to hear this.
