@Rezeric Nick Angelis isn't. He teaches the Cincy Bearcats Percussion. Yeah, being hard is a good way to get people to learn, though. It makes you afraid not to when he's staring you down like that, just waiting for you to mess up, ha ha! :)
@zackinac1234 Yea I met him too, we actually had to endure him for a week. He came and taught our drumline for a week of band camp from 9-5 every day. He's an alright guy, but a harsh percussion instructor, which was very helpful to help straighten all but one of us up. Lol, our bottom bass was hard to control anyway. I was the one who had to try to too.... Lol!!! :D
Jeff was the head of percussion studies while I was a student @ The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I was on the snare line, but never got much out of the guy other than a few excercises...he liked to show off more than anything...but I'll give him props for his hands...
My sentiments exactly. Oooosss!!! If he likes ramming notes so much, what's his problem with ScoJo & Blue Devs? By the way Grasshopper, 'clean' is a word that is used in reference to the ability of multiple drummers to play in unison.
Well you certainly are entitled to your opinion, but I have a greater amount of respect for Prosperie simply because he's been around the industry and contributed a lot more to marching percussion than Nick Angelis and Jeff Queen combined. Not to mention the fact that he pretty much the best technique you'll ever see. But like I said, you are certainly entitled to your opinion.
In addition to being the only player to have ever won snare drum individuals at DCI, DCA, AND PASIC I&E competitions. So just based on the guy's resume, I'd say he's pretty much a legend. And you really can't argue with results.
In reference to his technique and chops, he's excellent, not legendary. All three guys mentioned above have better hands than Prosperie.
Contributions to marching percussion?
Hardimon, Sanford, Float, Aungst, ScoJo, etc, etc, are legends, not Prosperie. The only legend he's accumulating right now is being judge who is biased against drumlines who play notes, and a guy who comes up with cheesy names for his solo's. And how many guys actually play at DCA anyway?
Except the constant microscopic rhythmic imperfections, the sense of forced-ness with which Prosperie played this and the fact that his hands just aren't that fast, it was pretty rad.
Why does he play with such a weird cocked right elbow? Messes up his consistency and sound in much of the solo. The judges should have picked that up. Really tightens up playing fast singles with that arm stuck out there. Its nice to see someone use different skill sets though. Many times these posted solos are a ram without much thought. This one had a better flow to it. He could do without the over dramaticism at the end, more applicaple to a color guard kid than a snare solo.
His singles are faster than most peoples rolls haha holy shit

Well you certainly are entitled to your opinion, but I have a greater amount of respect for Prosperie simply because he's been around the industry and contributed a lot more to marching percussion than Nick Angelis and Jeff Queen combined. So let's break this down:
In reference to his technique and chops, he's excellent, not legendary. All three guys mentioned above have better hands than Prosperie.
Contributions to marching percussion?
Hardimon, Sanford, Float, Aungst, ScoJo, etc, etc, are legends, not Prosperie. The only legend he's accumulating right now is being judge who is biased against drumlines who play notes, and a guy who comes up with cheesy names for his solo's. And how many guys actually play at DCA anyway?
