  • His singles are faster than most peoples rolls haha holy shit

  • he marches with the Hellcats correct?

  • @TheIceTitan HELL yeah.

  • Damn that was awesome. Badass, Jeff.

  • How in the world do you get that good

  • @tdubasdfg You be him.

  • he salutes you in the end cuz he was about to kill your ears through orgasm!!!!

  • @Rezeric Nick Angelis isn't. He teaches the Cincy Bearcats Percussion. Yeah, being hard is a good way to get people to learn, though. It makes you afraid not to when he's staring you down like that, just waiting for you to mess up, ha ha! :)

  • Killing it

  • Lol, Nick Angelis doesn't have anything on this guy!

  • @Thatinfamousmusician Ive met Nick Angelis at day of percussion and I have to agree Nick is amazing but this guy might just have him beat.

  • @zackinac1234 Yea I met him too, we actually had to endure him for a week. He came and taught our drumline for a week of band camp from 9-5 every day. He's an alright guy, but a harsh percussion instructor, which was very helpful to help straighten all but one of us up. Lol, our bottom bass was hard to control anyway. I was the one who had to try to too.... Lol!!! :D

  • I was waiting for some eights for his solo.

  • mr hurley can do that upside down

  • 1.17 that sound!!!!

  • I knew if I looked on youtube this guy would be on here! He was one hell of a drum instructor. Still kickin' ass Jeff!!

  • This guy just inspired me to practice snare drum again. WHAT A GREAT SOLO!

  • haha he has my last name

  • what a beast..wish i had chops half tht good

  • It was definitely an experience to remember, learning first-hand from this guy for a week!

  • more cowbell

  • best flams I have EVER heard...I love this guy.

  • Jeff was the head of percussion studies while I was a student @ The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I was on the snare line, but never got much out of the guy other than a few excercises...he liked to show off more than anything...but I'll give him props for his hands...

  • So DCA is for all the old people who wanted to go back to drum corps? Damn.

  • tons of respect for prosperie; best DCI judge out there.

  • it's awesome he's a pretty down to earth guy too

  • hes.. he was drumline captain at LSU in late 80's.. I was there also.. in tuba line

  • Is it true that he was the Captain of the LSU drumline at one point??

  • Why don't they do that kind of solo in DCI anymore?

  • haha.. the woman that brought out his bag (his wife) was my band teacher when i was still in middle school... :)

  • holy shit

  • Wow...

  • i like the downfall of paris at the beginning

  • wonderful...best flams i have ever heard great job.

  • i bet you that guy has fun whackin it...... lmao great drumming though

  • this guy judges dci i&e!

  • 1:17 .... amazing

  • so how much less demanding is the all-age corps life compared to the dci life?

  • that guy got skill!!! check out top secret drum corps edinburgh military tattoo

  • What are the stick he sues? They sound tight.

  • the beginning sounds like "Downfall of Paris"

  • Comment removed

  • just as good as the clinic at bunnell last night

  • I was there too. That shit was crazy

  • Holy shit , how do you move your wrists that fast. Damn this guy is a BEAST!

  • is it true that he is going to be the new crossmen drumline manager this year.

    cause roland chavez left?

  • nope

  • Prosperie will probably still be judging.

  • i wish i could do that at the bonus points in the end of a song on rock band for drums

  • to bad your don't get extra points for hitting fast now huh.

  • holy shit

  • Jeff Prosperie Vr. Jeff Queen...

  • the universe could not hold that much awesome in one room haha

  • "Warmup Silly". HAHAHA LOL

  • Wow great solo Jeff! I love the Spartacus ending. I hear Marty in you.

  • can anybody guide me with the traditional grip? my left hand can't get any faster.

  • why there is age out!

Can I have played out for 1000?

  • My sentiments exactly. Oooosss!!! If he likes ramming notes so much, what's his problem with ScoJo & Blue Devs? By the way Grasshopper, 'clean' is a word that is used in reference to the ability of multiple drummers to play in unison.

  • Yea The Warmup Itself Was Insanen Hella Clean!

  • Very awesome warmup

  • the warmup was a solo itself

  • I met him and he complimented me on my druming I was 13 at the time and im 14 now and when he told me I had perfect hands It was the best

  • My drum teachers mom taught this guy when he was a teenager.

  • daaaaaaamn son! those are some fancy chops

  • His warm up was better than most people's solos.

  • they really are

  • well yeah he marched bridgemen

  • I don't think that the reason he is so good is because he's with the bridgemen. haha

  • no but they have been known for incredible percussion sections throughout their history so it does have something to do with it

  • Oh, I see what you're saying. I just misinterpreted waht you were saying :) haha

  • his flams are always perfect

  • good wayto put it

  • this dude is a legend... He has no equal

  • Try Jeff Queen, Nick Angelis, Jon Weber, etc, etc, etc. His chops are better than mine ever were, but he's far from being a legend.

  • Well you certainly are entitled to your opinion, but I have a greater amount of respect for Prosperie simply because he's been around the industry and contributed a lot more to marching percussion than Nick Angelis and Jeff Queen combined. Not to mention the fact that he pretty much the best technique you'll ever see. But like I said, you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

  • In addition to being the only player to have ever won snare drum individuals at DCI, DCA, AND PASIC I&E competitions. So just based on the guy's resume, I'd say he's pretty much a legend. And you really can't argue with results.

  • So let's break this down:

In reference to his technique and chops, he's excellent, not legendary. All three guys mentioned above have better hands than Prosperie.

    Contributions to marching percussion?

Hardimon, Sanford, Float, Aungst, ScoJo, etc, etc, are legends, not Prosperie. The only legend he's accumulating right now is being judge who is biased against drumlines who play notes, and a guy who comes up with cheesy names for his solo's. And how many guys actually play at DCA anyway?

  • like nobody lol... its all about DCI I&E and WGI for drumers,

  • Apparently no one told you that DCA is where all the DCI and WGI drummers go when they're too old for DCI or WGI...

  • i never said it was bad, i just said the other two were more popular lol

i love all of this stuff. wish i had his chops lol

  • mad skills

  • He's from my home town and went to my school.. I saw him preform this live its so much better in person

  • LSU Grad....GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!

  • I like the parraddidle insanity run at 5:10. Sounded cool.

  • so is DCA all ages?

    and what's DCG?

  • that person probably meant dci

  • when i first saw him do this solo live i died and now watching it on the computer i broke a femur

  • We all just got annhililated.

  • what the f$%? !

    damn good yeah!!!

  • Jeff did not post this vid so stop asking him questions!

  • what kind of sticks are those

  • Wow Jeff...amazing! KA

  • what kind of head do you have please reply

  • Absolutely amazing!!!

  • wow... that's awesome.

  • Great work, Jeff (loved the "Downfall!"). Nice to see you in Rachster, even if I missed your actual gig.

    Ace

  • Serious display of hands...

You know this victory makes him, I think, the first to win DCI, PAS, and DCA.

I also heard that the military gig he landed pays MUCH more than most any teaching gig.

    Wow...

  • Really, really good, but not legendary.

    $.02

  • not legendary, just perfect in almost every aspect.

  • Agreed.

Except the constant microscopic rhythmic imperfections, the sense of forced-ness with which Prosperie played this and the fact that his hands just aren't that fast, it was pretty rad.

  • This makes me anxious when I watch it. He plays so many notes with his left hand, I expect him to shake out halfway through.

  • Why does he play with such a weird cocked right elbow? Messes up his consistency and sound in much of the solo. The judges should have picked that up. Really tightens up playing fast singles with that arm stuck out there. Its nice to see someone use different skill sets though. Many times these posted solos are a ram without much thought. This one had a better flow to it. He could do without the over dramaticism at the end, more applicaple to a color guard kid than a snare solo.

  • Wrong.

  • Man he's good!!!!!!

  • would anyone happen to know where i could find the music for this? if thats even possible?

  • my what great chops you have!

*only the better to OWN us all with, my dear*

  • Those are the most powerful chops ever!!

  • HOOAH!

  • Congratulations Jeff. Twice my age and still a badass.

  • wow....jeff prosperie is the man....and a legend!!!

  • I studied snare with Jeff at UNT round 98,99....i still carry the memories, amazing amazing player.

  • Didn't this guy march Star in 86? You're still HOT!

  • he might have, I know he marched with Phantom in 88

  • its always awesome to see what a DCI judge can do besides callin out the goods and the bads! KILLER solo

  • wow, this guy is rediculous and he judged DCI finals in 06

  • 1.20 bueatiful rim shot at the end of the warm up

  • WOW! Give that man a banana! HYPE to the HYPE MASTER!

    THANX Jeff!

  • Well he DID win I&E at DCI, and PAS, in 1988.

  • Excelent Job Jeff! Chops!!!

  • Oh....my....GOD! That would'e been competitive at DCI I&E, let alone DCA....Jesus....his WARMUP was better than some competitive solos!

The singles.....memories of 83 Bridgemen "Black Market Juggler" come flooding back...and I love the 82 Regiment quote to close it! GREAT stuff!

*now waiting for the first dumbass to spout that 1) he could play better than Jeff or 2) the he probably sucks on drumset...*

  • Everybody knows the DCA I&E is much better than DCI I&E. Nevertheless, this was a smoking solo

  • those are some chops.

  • boozkat shadiggida ooz(the phantom banana)kat

  • Jesus Christ...the WARMUP is freakishly awesome! The one-handed singles...drool! (Memories of Black Market Juggler...83 version)

Love the tuning of the snare....actually sounds more like a snare than formica-on-a-harness.

*now waiting for the first unlettered dumbass to claim 1) that he could do what Jeff did and b) that Jeff probably sucks on drumset*

  • At 24 seconds when he raises his left stick and plays taps with his right, I thought the video froze.

  • Amazing what people spend their time doing. And come on, "Oos, The Phantom Banana Cat"??? That's an extremely gay title.

  • "That's an extremely gay title"...interesting, coming from someone who named themselves after a triangle. lol

  • So perfect it's hard to comment! Just immense!

  • The New Pearl Robot Drummer

  • Most excellent, Jeff.

  • Excellent!

  • Excellent!

  • well...there's the reason why Jeff is always judging the DCM/DCI i and e's for snare.

  • not only that, he judges DCI finals some years, he did in 06

  • FUCK MAN NICE

  • hot shit
