  • you can live for 200 years and you will never see a better performence than this

pure raw and in your face.

if anyone has the rest of the show im sure a lot of people would love to see it

  • Subtle as a train wreck , in your face , keep rock'n in the free world , Neil

  • So is there like a "Sixty To Zero Part II"?

  • Wow this is an incredible version of this song... much better then the studio version in my opinion

  • Live from Jones Beach, NY (DVD) is pretty good too.....such a wicked album "Freedom", thanks for posting....."send me a cheeseburger....and a new Rolling Stone...."

  • Thank you so much Neil, so far away and so close

  • This one about sums it up. Raw nerve examining open wound. Thanks Neil.

  • This is actually an amazing version of this song!

  • This is just so great. Neil Young is great. I love this song. And this is the best live version of the I ever heard.

Hope it will be released in one of his fortcoming archive release.

  • which earthquake's victims was it for?

  • @harrydersteppenwolf northridge i think. might be over seas tho

  • Acoustic rock-and-roll, baby!

  • we fuckin need WELD's version of this song on you tube!!!

  • There is none other. Niel keeps the spirit of Rock alive.

  • @groovemon Neil

  • i am the fireman

  • There was a face in the window!!!

  • This song gives me goosebumps.

  • The only man to emit pure rock and roll out of an acoustic guitar and harmonica

  • @jcaiken05 Don't forget Cash

  • Neil Young is what I call an artist. I love how he and Dylan still tour and play what they are proud of and is relevant and new. No greatest hits tours for the ones that are still making great music.

  • why somebody should put a fireman in prison when he gets old?

  • @ramonthe3rd: Neil's subtle hint is that the fireman turned to a life of crime robbing banks when he put down the hose. He was arrested by the cop, his best friend.

  • haha i dont know but i was thinking it really meant a hitman or somthing, maybe a dirty cop eh??

  • listen ... no hear it man it says put out every fire in town (means more then a combustable flame) put out any thing smokin(imagine anything man like ruining fun of rich people) but when he put the hose down or relaxed or gave up or said fuck it he went to jail or died or wtf ever u wanna think man .... as to yer comment all old people should be in jail! 8)

  • He's inspired me to write so many things. My main influence. Do you think I'll make it in these times as a folk singer? I doubt it, but hell I love it. :P

  • i would listen.. im not brainwashed into thinking my life is awesome as long as i do this and do that and buy this and buy that.. i will listen to you if you have something important to say.

  • So talented

  • the best live performer of all time.

    EVER.

  • Neil's set list that day (26th November 1989, Cow Palace, Daly City, California):

My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue)

    Rockin' In The Free World

    Comes A Time

    Homegrown

    Heart Of Gold

    Crime In The City

  • Seems like an odd song to play at a charity event.

  • Yeah, he should have played "Revolution Blues", something more (Manson) Family friendly.

  • For a rocking rendition of Crime in the City, check out the double CD "Weld", with Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

  • No one can EVER match the talent that Elvis, John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix had. They all died before their time, but their music will never die. As for Little Richard and Neil Young, they are still around and their music will still always be around, even after they are gone. GREAT MUSIC NEVER DIES!!

    Also, don't forget:

    The Beatles

    Rolling Stones

    Bruce Springsteen

    AC/DC

    ...and all the rest.

  • Little Richard

    Elvis

    Lennon

    Hendrix

    Neil Young

We've been waiting for decades and still no one has come along to match them.

Thankfuly NEIL IS STILL AS STRONG AS EVER!!!

  • lennon sucked

  • Absolutely not

  • Umm, Bob Dylan ring a bell?

Easily the best lyricist of the bunch, and quite a talented musician as well.

  • I agree that Bob Dylan is a truly talented lyricist, the most success he's really had is when other people cover his songs. He's not much of a showman though,he rests on the laurels he made in the sixties,Neil Young is still fresh and his last album was one of his best.I like Bob Dylan and enjoy his radio show on UK radio 2 where he plays old blues and rock and roll tracks that influenced him.

Neighborhood bully is one of the greatest tracks of all time.

There's plenty of room for both of them

  • I'm not taking anything away from Neil, he is an amazing musician, and his longevity is truly impressive.

I just thought Dylan deserved a mention on that list, is all.

Although I slightly disagree. He definitely isn't much of a showman these days, but his latest albums are still incredible.

  • What a well worded reply, my compliments on your exceptional grammar and spelling. Many people take this as an example of a good comment.

  • Neil Young is al vanaf mijn pubertijd mijn poetische gids.

  • Outrageously vibrant! ~cg5 5*z (Big Neil fan)

  • wow- one of favs from that album- or CD...tape...what ever

  • I really wish he would have released "Sixty to Zero" as it was meant to be...there are actually versions you can here of this song as it was meant to be played if you really want to here them. Lyrics are brilliant throughout...but the length was probably the thing and I suppose the lyrics of the last half more or less go together...meh, Neil should've pushed for the full song :D

  • beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A lot of people say how they like the Weld version best, but i've always liked the original acoustic version and this is a great live performance of it. I just think the lyrics come through more in it's acoustic side and that's really what the song is about. Either way that riff propels you along whether electric or acoustic just fine.

  • whaaaa thats a mint video!!!!!!!!

    ahahahahaha thats ace!!! :D

  • if anyone has this song and wouldnt mind sending it to me, could you please message me?

  • How awesome is this song/this version, AWESOME!!!!!! 5 STARS!! FOR LIKE THE 100TH TIME

  • He just goes to town. Let's it all hang out. Gotsto luv it! Neil is the best. He seems to have been in a good mood

  • Cheeseburger + Rolling Stone = Producers, apparently. I love this song.

  • yar plus thumbs up

  • Amazing...soooo beautiful

  • Great performance, hate that he was forced to cut out over half the song to keep it "reasonable" in length on the LP. The original version (Sixty To Zero) is usually 20 minutes long. I'm surprised he shortened it in his live versions after the release of Freedom.

  • How many musicians are there, where you really only need just one second, see him hitting on his guitar and walking aroung, and you know its Neil Young. Just a great songwriter. Thanks for posting man.

  • Nov 26th 1989 Cow Palace SF

  • hey poster! whats the exact location, and year of this? thank you.

  • Who can be so intense with an acoustic guitar and an harp? Just Neil, nobody else can do that.

  • You're right, nobody else can play guitar, harp and sing at the same time (with intensity) as well as Neil Young.

  • One of the greatest song lyrically by one of rock's greatest lyricist.

  • "i got thrown out of bible school, for givin' the finger to the preacher" ha, brilliant. i love him

  • the best song writer ever!!!

  • Probably my very favourite song of his, right after Down by the River.

And this is about my favourite performance of it. I like this better than the Weld version. But, I have a slight affinity to acoustic guitars.

  • This is my fav version of this song cause his plays it so rough - hittin' the guitar and stuff. His guitar's tuned down a whole step if you want to play along.

  • mmmmm man of my dreams

  • Best ever writen.

  • Love it when he flips the camera man the bird.

  • The best song of "Freedom " album

  • I felt the same way when I first saw it.

  • there are no words to describe that! Neil rocks more than everyone!!!

  • I always loved the 'multiple anecdote' aspect of this song. Too bad the sound quality isn't better.

I was eight months' pregnant at my last Neil concert (w/Sonic Youth-during the LAST Gulf War in '90, when I was 24). I still say it had an effect on my son's excellent taste in music !

  • The man.........

  • Love him, Neil is the best! Neil for presidant? Fuck Hillary

  • How many rock "stars" can keep you riveted with just an acoustic guitar, a harp, and his crazy voice! Rock on, Neil!

  • the mans amazing

  • so fuckin powerful

  • This man should be our president!

  • He can't be, he's Canadian.

  • rust never sleeps

  • send me a cheeseburger, and a new Rolling Stone!!!

  • You are oe of the gretest!

  • We love you Neil!!!

  • Neil Young and Keith Richards are gods!

  • Neil's so kickass he doesn't even have to sing his own songs right. He switches around teacher and mom, so it doesn't exactly rhyme. But who cares? He's rockin'.

  • This is awesome. My favourite version is the Weld one though. It's blistering.

  • Brilliant!!

  • My sceeen's in flames!

  • Hell yeah Neil young dvd is horrible

  • thank you Neil..

  • Oh yeah!

  • bad ass!

  • either stoned or very drunken, that guy is great!

  • probably both and on coke
