Live from Jones Beach, NY (DVD) is pretty good too.....such a wicked album "Freedom", thanks for posting....."send me a cheeseburger....and a new Rolling Stone...."
Neil Young is what I call an artist. I love how he and Dylan still tour and play what they are proud of and is relevant and new. No greatest hits tours for the ones that are still making great music.
@ramonthe3rd: Neil's subtle hint is that the fireman turned to a life of crime robbing banks when he put down the hose. He was arrested by the cop, his best friend.
listen ... no hear it man it says put out every fire in town (means more then a combustable flame) put out any thing smokin(imagine anything man like ruining fun of rich people) but when he put the hose down or relaxed or gave up or said fuck it he went to jail or died or wtf ever u wanna think man .... as to yer comment all old people should be in jail! 8)
He's inspired me to write so many things. My main influence. Do you think I'll make it in these times as a folk singer? I doubt it, but hell I love it. :P
i would listen.. im not brainwashed into thinking my life is awesome as long as i do this and do that and buy this and buy that.. i will listen to you if you have something important to say.
No one can EVER match the talent that Elvis, John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix had. They all died before their time, but their music will never die. As for Little Richard and Neil Young, they are still around and their music will still always be around, even after they are gone. GREAT MUSIC NEVER DIES!!
I agree that Bob Dylan is a truly talented lyricist, the most success he's really had is when other people cover his songs. He's not much of a showman though,he rests on the laurels he made in the sixties,Neil Young is still fresh and his last album was one of his best.I like Bob Dylan and enjoy his radio show on UK radio 2 where he plays old blues and rock and roll tracks that influenced him.
Neighborhood bully is one of the greatest tracks of all time.
I really wish he would have released "Sixty to Zero" as it was meant to be...there are actually versions you can here of this song as it was meant to be played if you really want to here them. Lyrics are brilliant throughout...but the length was probably the thing and I suppose the lyrics of the last half more or less go together...meh, Neil should've pushed for the full song :D
A lot of people say how they like the Weld version best, but i've always liked the original acoustic version and this is a great live performance of it. I just think the lyrics come through more in it's acoustic side and that's really what the song is about. Either way that riff propels you along whether electric or acoustic just fine.
Great performance, hate that he was forced to cut out over half the song to keep it "reasonable" in length on the LP. The original version (Sixty To Zero) is usually 20 minutes long. I'm surprised he shortened it in his live versions after the release of Freedom.
How many musicians are there, where you really only need just one second, see him hitting on his guitar and walking aroung, and you know its Neil Young. Just a great songwriter. Thanks for posting man.
This is my fav version of this song cause his plays it so rough - hittin' the guitar and stuff. His guitar's tuned down a whole step if you want to play along.
I always loved the 'multiple anecdote' aspect of this song. Too bad the sound quality isn't better.
I was eight months' pregnant at my last Neil concert (w/Sonic Youth-during the LAST Gulf War in '90, when I was 24). I still say it had an effect on my son's excellent taste in music !
Neil's so kickass he doesn't even have to sing his own songs right. He switches around teacher and mom, so it doesn't exactly rhyme. But who cares? He's rockin'.

I'm not taking anything away from Neil, he is an amazing musician, and his longevity is truly impressive.
I just thought Dylan deserved a mention on that list, is all.
Although I slightly disagree. He definitely isn't much of a showman these days, but his latest albums are still incredible.
