  • The queens mate before they overwinter so they are ready to start their new colonies in the spring.

  • So they die off in winter so how do they reproduce the next time ??

  • @leonardo1480 A queen will hibernate.....under tree bark or in a spot where it's warm....sometimes a queen will spawn from a nest from last year. .....It's the workers (sterile females) that die every mid fall.

    Any colony of social insects (ants,termites,wasps,bees, ect) consists of mostly workers.
