We were the real gamer's back in the 80s. The games were harder & more challenging then today's games that more or less does the play for you! Miss those days..
@guitarbridgecleaner Union Scale for the day was probably around $550. The residuals added up to several 1000. Keep in mind that an actor might only get a few spots a year. We would audition for maybe 50 spots before bagging one. In my heyday, I was getting 1 out of 10 maybe. Some of my buddies were pulling down a couple hundred thou a year. I was doing less, and very happy with my theater work, working soaps - guest artist for almost all of them - and enjoying the best town in the world.
Hey Mr.Saturn33.... I don't know what Sally is doing or where she is. We were friendly but she had a boyfriend and it was a fun working relationship. I've never googled her name. Maybe she's on one of those websites that lists our credits.
To Mike 89066: How can I prove it to you that I was Mario? I don't usually chat on YouTube. Maybe you guys want a signed 8 x 10? I'll dress up like Mario and mail it wherever you say .... $25 prepaid. Maybe I'll include a copy of my original SAG commercial contract. It might still be in an old file. You are right, Ozzie968..... I was in my early 30s when we shot the spot. My 65th birthday is in September. I still love acting and aim to get my ply produced soon. HS
You'd think I could remember if I ever beat the game, but can't remember. I know I got real high up. That shoot was a lot of fun. I remember the stuntman who played the gorilla... small, wiry blonde-haired guy.- HS
@periberri12 Why do you have multiple accounts? Also you really shocked me whe I read you really were The original Mario. That gets huge respect from me on its own.
and.... no, I didn't realize how popular the franchise would become ... although I had a notion it would be big because it was new technology for the times. The second commercial, Donkeykong Junior, is also up on Youtube somewhere. It didn't run as much as the original. Best, Harris Shore - The "Original" Mario
I never played the game at home. I was too busy working on my acting craft and scoring with beautiful babes to play video games on TV. But it was fun to walk down Broadway and go into my favorite arcade and play pinball and Donkeykong between auditions... and nobody knew that I was Mario ... quite a kicker! I got pretty good at it. This was one of the first "non-pinball" games. I think only Pacman came before Donkeykong for this kind of game
I'm the guy in the commercial.... the original Mario... finally couldn't help myself and had to say "hi." It was a fun shoot all those years ago. ...living in Los Angeles now... still acting... all the best to all you Donkeykong fans!

You got that from the big bang theory? Geez, how young are you? That's a classic line from Charlton Heston in "Planet of the Apes", which Big Bang Theory was referencing, but which you obviously didn't get. Damn- kids these days
ah this is about adultery. months later they end up on maury povich, he suspects she's cheating, she brings out dk and says that the big ape has been giving her what the husband couldnt and thats not all, shes pregnant. gasp after gasp after oh. what comes around goes around and the like.
Nintendo was actually going to have the Famicom distributed via Atari, but Atari backed out at the last minute. 2nd biggest gaming business mistake ever.
@reivenlocke got a question, whats the 1st gaming business mistake ever?. i once read that some company, presented Sega a proyect that became the Nintendo N64 but they rejected it..... and around the same time, it was presented to Sega a proyect that ended being the Sony Playstation.... also got rejected..... Huge mistakes that pretty much ended Sega`s console career....
