  • Hey chef..firstly thanks a bunch 4dis video..learnt somedin new..but thinking out loud..isnt it easier deep frying them n shorter time...And am hooked 2ur channel nw..cheerz!

  • @kadzoketu

One of the reason I do not deep fry is I do not have a deep fryer

I have never tried deep frying the scotch eggs but it should work well and be alot quicker!

Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comms.

Very nice to hear your hooked :))

    OriginalNakedChef

  • use quail eggs for a cool starter. You can also use tinned haggis instead of mince for a variation

  • @ewanp

Sounds like you have made scotch eggs before!

I have never seen tinned haggis before.

Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing that.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • I'm making this tonight for Christmas eve. Happy Christmas!

  • @SoyuzBot

Good luck with them, I will be including scotch eggs in our selection of yummy food tonight for Christmas eve in Spain!

Hope you have a great Christmas and look forward to speaking with you again :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Thanks Chef! I can't wait to try this one. I wish you all the best! :-)

  • @unpinoy

    Nice one!

I hope you enjoy and Happy Christmas to you and your family!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @OriginalNakedChef Enjoy the holidays! :-)))

  • this is the second recipe me and my friend cooked!!! but we failed for this one. the egg was raw

and we put the wrong spice (accidentally) of course and it was burned :P we made alot of mistakes but one day we will pass. merry christmas originalnakedchef

  • @SlaugD2

That´s a shame you had a few teathing problems:(

It must have been difficult to wrap the mince around the egg when it was nearly raw, you must be a magician:)

We all learn by our mistakes and sorry to hear that things did not go to plan!

If you get the chance, try again as they are very nice when edible.

I also have another scotch egg video that uses sausage meat instead of mince. Maybe give that one a try next time.

Thanks for giving it ago and better luck next time.

    Drop in again sometime :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • these look delicious and will definitely try them (been on my "to do" list for some time)

i was wondering though if instead of frying them could i just pop them in the oven instead?

  • @19dec1981

You can put the scotch eggs in the oven to cook.

I normally prefer to fry them but they still taste good in the oven.

    They are defiantly worth trying.

I also have another version of scotch eggs on youtube that uses sausages instead of minced meat.

The other scotch eggs video recipe is a more traditional recipe.

    Good luck and enjoy :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • i gotta try this ;)...i think my boyfriend would love it!

  • @BrokenTradgedy33

They are defiantly worth a try and I hope he enjoys :)

  • @ImaLanger

    Hi Mike,

I think these scotch eggs would be great as a starter at your curry night!

It does sound like you are in the sticks where you are.

Can you not get food delivered by the supermarkets where you are?

Thanks for dropping in and your comms.

Good luck with your curry night!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • could with a bit of dipping sauce yes?

  • @dragonflychainsaw

Yes a sauce would be nice to dip them into, what do you suggest?

    OriginalnakedChef

  • Can't wait to try these,, Thankyou Chef;)

  • @bluechunder

Nice one and I hope you enjoy!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @bluechunder

Good to hear from you hope you enjoy :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Just out of curiosity chef, why did you cook the eggs using cold water? I plop mine straight into boiling water. Is it just preference, Thanks in advance

  • @Gogeta0110

My eggs were from the fridge and if you put them straight into hot water they will almost certainly crack when cooking.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @OriginalNakedChef using salt water to boil the eggs always seems to stop them cracking, from what i've found.

  • I'm just gonna need to translate in french and I will be able to try it.

  • @opinion1990

Hopefully someone can translate this for you and in no time at all you will be enjoying these scotch eggs :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • I love scotch eggs and these look so delicious (the addition of Indian spices make these really unique).

I have an African style of scotch egg recipe would you mind if i send you the video as video response to this one?

    Thank you

  • @kadirecipes

I must admit I had never seen the scotch eggs with Indian spices before so I guess they are fairly unique!

ref the video response if it's related to mine then go for it!

Be interesting to see African scotch eggs.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • I love the Indian twist to the Scotch Eggs!!! And being true to Indian cuisine, you used lamb, and not beef! But, I'm sure it would be scrummy with any meat, just the same!

As a lower cal (lower fat version, I want to try this with mince chicken or turkey, with the same spices!

    They look awesome!!!

  • @GoranMak

Your right, lamb would be the correct meat to use although chicken or turkey would work very well with the spices.

Good luck with your scotch eggs and enjoy!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @OriginalNakedChef Thanks Chef. I will be making them tomorrow night as a matter of fact!

  • Comment removed

  • these seem much more appealing than the standard sausage method. must be the lamb and spices. from what i've read, scotch eggs are commonly eaten at room temperature, personally i'd have to eat them fresh from the pan.

those turned out delicious, like meaty baubles. perhaps hang them from the christmas tree. thanks as always.

  • @kumquatsta

I must admit when I first tried this recipe I thought they tasted delicious!

I love the original version with sausage meat but these ones with the Indian spices are a really nice twist.

As for eating the scotch eggs at room temperature, when I make mine they are usually all eaten soon after!

I prefer mine nice and hot :)

Hanging them on the Christmas tree as bulbuls that would certainly make your Christmas tree unique!

  • I love your videos, very basic and to the point

  • @honeyzway

Glad you enjoyed the vids :)

    Thanks for the comms!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • I cant wait to try this, i love scotch eggs, and i cant get sausagemeat here :) I am thinking of using porkmince and then change the spices for sage and onion powder. Will leave the ginger out... think that would be yum!

  • @cez11111

A lot of viewers struggle to find sausage meat so hopefully now everyone can enjoy scotch eggs :)

Good luck with your scotch eggs recipe and I hope you enjoy!

  • What i love about this recipe is if you don't eat pork like Jews or Muslim , this is an awesome alternative .

  • @earlbee31

    Good to hear from you!

When I made my other scotch egg vid, I got a lot of viewers saying they did not eat pork or could not get hold of sausages so hopefully with this recipe everyone can eat scotch eggs :))

I hope you enjoy and have a good week :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Last time I couldn't find the Thick Sausages in here.. :(

Bt this time I'm gonna try this for my brother :D

How i can use chicken for this recipe cz i dnt like lamb ??

    & Thanks for sharing chef .. :)

  • @89Umaz

To use chicken for the scotch eggs you will need some breast meat that has been ground. Could your butcher grind the chicken breast for you?

If the butcher cannot do this for you, could you put the breast meat into a blender to make it into finer pieces.

Good luck and hope it goes well!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @OriginalNakedChef

    Ohh!!

Thanks a lot for ur reply chef.

I'll use my blender. It would be more easier to me..

Chef,I jz have a small tip for u; that we use to cook daily.

Normally 1st we add some oil in to a pan nxt we add our spices (red chilli powder, Black pepper,Cinnamon,a pinch of salt & turmeric,Ginger,Garlic,Onion,Bay leaves etc..) in to it and fry those jz a little.& nxt we add our other ingredients..

That way gives a good smell & taste :D

    & Thank u once again :D

  • any substitute for the ginger? xD I'm not a big fan of those :c this one seems really yummy but I kept thinking about the ginger XD

  • @obivon0403

If you dont like ginger just leave it out!

They will still tatse good :)

    OriginalnakedChef

  • Whats a good side dish to this?

  • @Jaiyeson

You could serve the scotch eggs with a simple salad or some rice or just eat them as a sanck on their own :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Every year I deep fry turkies and for the last few years I have planned to do some scotch eggs and never have. Aaargh maybe next year....again. This looked great although I'm not the biggest lamb fan. The only thing that I can't readily find here in Texas are the sausages that are finely ground. I suppose that I can just buy some and then re-grind or maybe put it in the food processor briefly. Anyway I enjoyed this video (as usual).

  • @The806Traveler

Yes maybe this is the year to have those scotch eggs :)

Maybe if you are not so keen on lamb, could you grind up some turkey or chicken.

They would taste nice in a scotch egg :)

Glad you liked the vid and I appreciate you taking the time to drop in.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • THANK YOU! I love scotch eggs but I cant have pork. You just made my day sweets. I never would have thought of minced lamb.

  • @lighthearted2

When I made my other scotch egg video I had quite a number of viewers either saying they could not eat pork or get hold of sausages. So I thought this might go down well.

    Hope you enjoy :)

    OriginalNakedChef
