I'll tell you what sucks about Ship Simulator... there's no AI for the other boats... which is kind of a crucial feature for a ship simulator considering a container ship just rammed me while on a cruise ship mission. Ship Simulator is totally cool except boats ram you all the time, especially in a harbour. It's like a friggin obstacle course except the obstacles are moving. It's freakin annoying and disappointing too. Like HELLO VSTEP?!?!

I really wish there was a ship simulator that had realistic physics, I love ships and I've captained my dad's fishing boat before (70 foots long liner) and I just really wish that these games actually portrayed how the boat moves and how the water affects the ship better, still a fun game though.

I like Ship Simulator but Virtual Sailor

is easier on computars and doesn't need alot of graphical power.

Virtual Sailor add-ons are free unlike SS.

I think if you want realism go SS, but if you just want to sail around then go for VS.

@SporeCreator2009 Yes. Very. (Games depend more on your graphics card, not your RAM btw, most modern games can be played on 1GB of RAM just as well as they can be on 6GB.)

this game is a great cure for insomnia! they should do a version just about the bbc series 'Trawlermen' where you have to gamble on hauling fish to pay off your debts. Add crew management and detailed weather fronts and this franchise could then become very tasty...

I live on an island. And I drive diffrent boats. And this game feel more secure than on the sea. Cause you can die at sea if you don't respect it.

And I think this simulator is a great one. It's maybe not as good as you would be out on the sea, but this you can do all kinds off things.

The weirdest glitch happened to me,

I was driving the oil tanker (the second boat in the video) and I set full throttle and turned sharpley and left the room for like 30-60 mins, when I came back, I had started walking around, and relize my boat was on a 75* angle, (somewhere around there), so I had capsized, then I went to the front of the boat and randomly fell of!

Then got sucked away from the boat at like 100 mph, LOL!

There are several missions, with different goals in each. I haven't played it a lot, but with the bigger vessles, the goal is mainly coastal/harbor navigation between waypoints.

I believe you can load containers with a crane.

It is not a game.

It's a poor simulator. And I mean, a really, really poor one. It's basically moving around a ship with the arrow-keys of your keyboard. But driving a boat IRL is much, much, MUCH more complicated than that.

hmm I was dissappointed with this.. The whole thing feels like it was programmed in haste by amateurs. Check out the grid-like uniformity of the sea, the horrendous buzzer "horn" and the "artificial intelligence" of the other boats is not funny.

Very good review! I agree with you, the game is great. Not what every "gamer" is looking for, but to those who have from time to time wondered what it would be like to be an officer on Titanic's bridge or that of a large cargo vessel, this game it for you. The game presents many challenging and enjoyable missions. "Simple" objectives such as turning your vessel around at the dock can be very tricky, and are extremely rewarding once completed.

Yes, certainly. The Ferry (which I've not spent much time with) has different controls to the other vessels, but I'm sure it's explained clearly enough.

How come there are two wheels and two engine control bits? And if there are only two props on the Titanic then what are all the different engine controls for on the bridge? Those big brass things I mean; looks like there's about 6 of them. Also can you sail the Titanic from the back bit? Sorry, I'm into the small, pathetic details of sims lol.

I was frankly expecting more :(. I find that the ships themselves are just to... whats the word, undetailed. At the back of the tanker bridge, there was just this big emptyness. It just looks, amatuerish. Plus, One thing I wanted was to plough a fishing boat through 10 meter seas in the bering! I dunno, Ill let the modders have at it.
