  • Yes, it's a ram pump or hydraulic ram! Commonly used when a continous flow of plenty of water is available, and the needed water is very less of the water delivered to the pump.

    Because most water is wasted, to induce the water hammer and thus the effect of transforming the flow into a pressure shunt, which hammers a little amount of water up...

  • @SteffenReichel Depends on the definition of wasted, if its a 'stream' or other natural flow, the output isn't really waste.

  • FYI...This device is known as a "ram pump". Pretty cool device for moving water uphill.
