If we do a petition and stand at shopping malls and other stores.Asking people to help Disney know that the stuff they have on now is loosing it. They should have a D-Teen time and a D-Family time better yet their own channel. The D-Teen channel will have what they have on now. Then you have the D-Family Channel where you have all the cartoons, D-TV, News Information about the Disney parks and other activities the Disney have going on.
If anyone figures out what the hell this song is actually called, I'd be grateful and appreciative to know. It was used in several commercials as well around 88-89.(i.e.-a dodge commercial 89")
I jumped out of my seat upon finding these old DTV clips. After 20+ years without seeing the intro, every single note still registers in my head! There's a void in my life without the classic Disney Channel I remember growing up with from 1986 to about 1993, but every post like this revives the past like it's yesterday =) I won't even mention how much I hate the laughable contemporary Disney programming. BTW does anybody else remember a "Turtles: Happy Together" DTV clip or is it just me?
I was born in 81...so I was watching Disney about the same time period as you....yeah...all of the old school show intro's and classic shorts occupy a good chunk of memory.
Wish they would make a Classical Disney Channel that just played stuff back when you had to pay to see Disney
The feeling's mutual, thanks for the reply. I'd pay handsomely for a first-era retro lineup...but I don't think I'd be able to pry myself from the couch if Disney Channel rolled the clocks back to, say, 1987. Such an outlet would be great for showcasing [hard or impossible to find on DVD] programs like The Raccoons, DTV, Wuzzles, Dumbo's Circus, etc. But the Camp Rock generation would be floored when they realize what a gem they missed out on.
And born in 82', and I remembered it quite well, it was aired something between 86/87 until 93,, god i miss those days ... and whoever has the "You Really Got a Hold on Me" DTV Clip will be my hero !!!
OMG taegdv, I LOVE YOU SO DAMN MUCH. I almost cried watching this. I miss this so much. WHERE DID YOU GET THIS? is it old vids you had lying around? you're so lucky. you've got the goods. THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU'VE MADE MY DAY. I never thought I'd find this again. this was my fav of the interlude themes. THANK YOU. wish I knew the name of this.
I AGREE. we should do a petition for God's sakes, so that they realize that what they've got on that channel's ridiculous. a bunch of things under Disney's name, what are they thinking. during the '80s and '90s the channel was still good. I don't know what the hell happened now.
And yes - the pipe organ bit is from "Music Land", where the two kingdoms use their instrument-like architecture (jazz brass and organ pipes, respectively) to wage war.
First of all, on behalf of all who have been searching for this tune for YEARS!!!!, a big THANK YOU!!! It's been about a decade or so since I've heard the tune in its entire 3 min and 29 sec.
Couldn't help but notice, though, that KT was founded in 1989. And I'm almost positive that RPM was being used on D-TV before that.
I like that intro, I've seen it a few times. If you happen to have California Dreamin' and Happy Together, can you put them on? I'd like to see those. Thanks.
Disney used to PWN, didn't it? What happened?! I'll just have to buy everything on ebay and simulate the same programming for my children when I have em', lol.
tsntana, it's harder than hell to find the answer to that question. I've been trying also, and no one seems to know. It's pretty remarkable that in this day of finding anything on the internet that no one, not one person on the interent, knows the title to the theme song of D-tv.
I'll hazard a guess that this is something from one of the music services, as they have a lot of similar stuff that can back up news, sports segments and all sorts of video footage. But this is indeed a great piece and now I'm looking for the title. If you find it, I want to know.
Anyone agree with me that Disney Channel has gone to the crapper, I mean where is Mickey, Donald, Goofy, longstory short; Mouse Tracks, Quack Attack, Goof Troop, Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, Chip'n'Dale Rescue Rangers, and others, those were true Disney Classics, need to bring back. The crap on now, name it "Preteen Disney", and have "Disney Classics" along with other Buena Vista (or however you spell it) Disney movies; Lion King, Goofy Movie, 101 Dalmations, Bimbo, etc. as the other network agree?
I have started a campaign group on YouTube focused on trying to revive Vault Disney, DTV and the Ink and Paint Club, feel free to join--it's called R.A.D.E. meaning the Rebellion Against the Disney Empire, referring to Pre-teen Disney that fans of the the True Disney will fight against.
I mean after all, kids should be kids, not spoiled 15-year-olds who can't seem to wear a bra i.e. Miley Cyrus.
Disney Channel ain't Disney Channel no more!! It's more like THE CRAP CHANNEL. Nothing but a bunch of air-headed, talent-less (yet extremely profitable!!) teens and tweens.
Wow, I searched forever for the name of this show just for that theme. I remember this just like it was yesterday when I was roughly 7 or 8. Good memories. And I agree with all the comments about Disney Channel turning into utter crap. Just rename it "The Pre Teen Channel" and that would sum up whats on that station.
Out of all those old Disney cartoons and animated films in that intro Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom is the only cartoon that looks different. One minute it's in the original CinemaScope version and the next minute as you've seen near the end of the intro it's covering the entire screen.
Any idea on where to download this theme? Also, the sequence from approx. :35-:36 (with the guitar something like an oscilliscope)-is it from Three Caballeros?
Man, this used to freak the living heck outta me when I was 3 - 5 years old. Now I can't get enough of this theme!! It kinda sounds like it was inspired by some songs that The Police did; the intro sounds eerily like "Don't Stand So Close to Me"'s intro, and the rest of it resembles songs from their debut album like "Roxanne" and (especially) "So Lonely".
@MysticArksRevenge One thing I don't like about the way disney cartoons are today is most of their cartoons aren't cartoons. They are pixar films. My father gave a great example. It's not like watching cartoons. It's like watching a video game.
I second that. I really wish though that someone would put like the segments between the videos on YouTube. I think I remember the checkered floor and the big TV made up of a bunch of smaller TVs. Vaguely though..

Now I ask again. Would anybody happen to know the name of the song they're using as the theme music here?
I KNOW I've heard it elsewhere other than D-TV or The Disney Channel. And I KNOW the song runs a bit longer than 1 min 2 sec.

The dueling scene is from "Music Land" (1935), and one of the pipe organs is actually a batch of brass instruments of jazz.
