  • Did they ever do any Dusty Springfield songs?

  • I have RPM (the full 3:29) for anyone who wants it. I also have "Sunset Boulevard" (the DTV interlude theme)

  • @blozier2006 The UK never had this show on Youtube, and I've enjoyed listening to this tune! I'd like a copy of RPM please! :)

  • My favorite show on Disney Channel. Good times!

  • If we do a petition and stand at shopping malls and other stores.Asking people to help Disney know that the stuff they have on now is loosing it. They should have a D-Teen time and a D-Family time better yet their own channel. The D-Teen channel will have what they have on now. Then you have the D-Family Channel where you have all the cartoons, D-TV, News Information about the Disney parks and other activities the Disney have going on.

  • Best. Music. Intro. EVER.

  • god i used to dance to this as a kid. seems like forever ago

  • If anyone figures out what the hell this song is actually called, I'd be grateful and appreciative to know. It was used in several commercials as well around 88-89.(i.e.-a dodge commercial 89")

  • I remember this from off the "Pop And Rock" tape.

  • I jumped out of my seat upon finding these old DTV clips. After 20+ years without seeing the intro, every single note still registers in my head! There's a void in my life without the classic Disney Channel I remember growing up with from 1986 to about 1993, but every post like this revives the past like it's yesterday =) I won't even mention how much I hate the laughable contemporary Disney programming. BTW does anybody else remember a "Turtles: Happy Together" DTV clip or is it just me?

  • @WebsterJake

I was born in 81...so I was watching Disney about the same time period as you....yeah...all of the old school show intro's and classic shorts occupy a good chunk of memory.

Wish they would make a Classical Disney Channel that just played stuff back when you had to pay to see Disney

  • @jwace

The feeling's mutual, thanks for the reply. I'd pay handsomely for a first-era retro lineup...but I don't think I'd be able to pry myself from the couch if Disney Channel rolled the clocks back to, say, 1987. Such an outlet would be great for showcasing [hard or impossible to find on DVD] programs like The Raccoons, DTV, Wuzzles, Dumbo's Circus, etc. But the Camp Rock generation would be floored when they realize what a gem they missed out on.

Born in '83, proud of my childhood =)

  • And born in 82', and I remembered it quite well, it was aired something between 86/87 until 93,, god i miss those days ... and whoever has the "You Really Got a Hold on Me" DTV Clip will be my hero !!!

  • I was born in '85, so I'm in the same boat as you.

  • Oh my god..I freakin loved DTV videos! Even as a kid, I thought this was a rockin theme tune.

  • I hope the website people never take this vid off. if they do, they murder a part of me..

  • OMG taegdv, I LOVE YOU SO DAMN MUCH. I almost cried watching this. I miss this so much. WHERE DID YOU GET THIS? is it old vids you had lying around? you're so lucky. you've got the goods. THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU'VE MADE MY DAY. I never thought I'd find this again. this was my fav of the interlude themes. THANK YOU. wish I knew the name of this.

  • We should all write to Disney saying we want the old classics cartoons again on the Disney Channel.

  • @JayFoxFire

I AGREE. we should do a petition for God's sakes, so that they realize that what they've got on that channel's ridiculous. a bunch of things under Disney's name, what are they thinking. during the '80s and '90s the channel was still good. I don't know what the hell happened now.

  • yes :3

  • I wish Disney would bring back this stuff or make a classic Disney Channel and play all their old toons and shows.

  • @Syriusb12 or at least bring it back with newer songs---and I'm talking real songs...none of that prefabricated garbage from their TV show stars.

  • The memories are flooding back now...I've been looking for this forever. Thank you so much.

  • do you know the group that played this song?

  • It is overall reminiscent of the progressive rock as characterized by groups such as Yes, Pink Floyd and Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

  • And yes - the pipe organ bit is from "Music Land", where the two kingdoms use their instrument-like architecture (jazz brass and organ pipes, respectively) to wage war.

  • I totally love the sound that starts at 0:31.

    Really cool. Thanks for posting.

  • I agree! Who does'nt dig the 80's synthesizer?

  • Well it also sounds '70s, too - if you listen to such groups like Yes, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Pink Floyd.

  • I see.

  • I always thought the main hook sounded reminicent of "Call Me" by Blondie.

  • I wish i was born during this time.. Now look at what i have to watch...

  • I wish I knew the name of this theme song......

  • please can you say me what is the title of this theme song? thanks :)

  • After years of searching, I found that Disney's DTV old theme. It is called "RPM" from KillerTracks

  • I like that intro, I've seen it a few times. If you happen to have California Dreamin' and Happy Together, can you put them on? I'd like to see those. Thanks.

  • When Disney Channel wasn't crap.

Now it's full of shitty pop-tweencom bull that would make Walt Disney roll in his grave.

  • I so second that.

  • Disney used to PWN, didn't it? What happened?! I'll just have to buy everything on ebay and simulate the same programming for my children when I have em', lol.

  • Seriously! I used to watch Disney Channel all the time back when it was good....but now? FORGET IT! :P

  • Hi! Very good video! I love it! I'm looking for the title of this song.. Does anyone know it? Please answer my question. Thanks.

  • jimmy hippofly snuka!!!!

  • I swear to god the music and memories were so good

...........it makes me cry (tears of happyness).

  • I remember they played an extended version of this as a video on DTV

  • tsntana, it's harder than hell to find the answer to that question. I've been trying also, and no one seems to know. It's pretty remarkable that in this day of finding anything on the internet that no one, not one person on the interent, knows the title to the theme song of D-tv.

  • I ask this question about every 5 years. Been searching for it on the internet since I first logged in back in 1996. No one seems to know.

Now I ask again. Would anybody happen to know the name of the song they're using as the theme music here?

I KNOW I've heard it elsewhere other than D-TV or The Disney Channel. And I KNOW the song runs a bit longer than 1 min 2 sec.

If I get an answer to this question, then super. If not, then well I guess I'll see y'all in another 5 years. lol

  • I'll hazard a guess that this is something from one of the music services, as they have a lot of similar stuff that can back up news, sports segments and all sorts of video footage. But this is indeed a great piece and now I'm looking for the title. If you find it, I want to know.

  • i remember when the good shows were on. disney channel. old mickey cartoons and gummi bears. now its pure marketing of talentless preteens

  • The end is the best part with the dueling pipe organs.

  • My favourite bit was the caveman with the club producing percussion sounds from Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom.

  • The dueling scene is from "Music Land" (1935), and one of the pipe organs is actually a batch of brass instruments of jazz.

  • Anyone agree with me that Disney Channel has gone to the crapper, I mean where is Mickey, Donald, Goofy, longstory short; Mouse Tracks, Quack Attack, Goof Troop, Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, Chip'n'Dale Rescue Rangers, and others, those were true Disney Classics, need to bring back. The crap on now, name it "Preteen Disney", and have "Disney Classics" along with other Buena Vista (or however you spell it) Disney movies; Lion King, Goofy Movie, 101 Dalmations, Bimbo, etc. as the other network agree?

  • I have started a campaign group on YouTube focused on trying to revive Vault Disney, DTV and the Ink and Paint Club, feel free to join--it's called R.A.D.E. meaning the Rebellion Against the Disney Empire, referring to Pre-teen Disney that fans of the the True Disney will fight against.

I mean after all, kids should be kids, not spoiled 15-year-olds who can't seem to wear a bra i.e. Miley Cyrus.

  • And don't forget: who also obviously don't seem to be able to keep their crotches inside their pants, i.e. Jamie-Lynn Spears.

  • Disney Channel ain't Disney Channel no more!! It's more like THE CRAP CHANNEL. Nothing but a bunch of air-headed, talent-less (yet extremely profitable!!) teens and tweens.

  • Money is the root of all evil.

  • This intro TERRIFIED me as a child. I don't know why. It still kinda freaks me out a bit...

  • Wow, I searched forever for the name of this show just for that theme. I remember this just like it was yesterday when I was roughly 7 or 8. Good memories. And I agree with all the comments about Disney Channel turning into utter crap. Just rename it "The Pre Teen Channel" and that would sum up whats on that station.

  • I am with you man, what a bunch of $%@#$%^& Disney Channel is today!!!

I don't let my kids nowhere near Disney Channel.

  • wow...memories!

  • Out of all those old Disney cartoons and animated films in that intro Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom is the only cartoon that looks different. One minute it's in the original CinemaScope version and the next minute as you've seen near the end of the intro it's covering the entire screen.

  • Mind Control.

  • Any idea on where to download this theme? Also, the sequence from approx. :35-:36 (with the guitar something like an oscilliscope)-is it from Three Caballeros?

    Excellent video!

  • 0:13 thru 0:14 hahaha!!

  • Man, this used to freak the living heck outta me when I was 3 - 5 years old. Now I can't get enough of this theme!! It kinda sounds like it was inspired by some songs that The Police did; the intro sounds eerily like "Don't Stand So Close to Me"'s intro, and the rest of it resembles songs from their debut album like "Roxanne" and (especially) "So Lonely".

  • holy shit i just got a whole bunch of memories back from watching this. thanks OP for posting this. i was roughly 5 - 6 while this was on TV.

i have a few very fond memories to this ;)

  • Part 2

BLAME IT ON THE SAMBA - MELODY TIME

    THE THREE CABALLEROS

    THE BAND CONCERT

    MR. DUCK STEPS OUT

    MUSIC LAND

    TOOT, WHISTLE, PLUNK AND BOOM

    TWO CHIPS AND A MISS

  • Disney footage in intro Part 1

    THE KLONDIKE KID

    BLUE RHYTHM

    SYMPHONY HOUR

    DONALD'S CRIME

    IN THE BAG

    COCK O' THE WALK

    THRU THE MIRROR

    OLD KING COLE

THE DANCE OF THE HOURS - FANTASIA

  • OMG I remember watching this as a kid, except it was on the Family Channel.

  • Me too. I'm Canadian - I fondly remember watching DTV on the Canadian Family Channel.

  • @taegdv SAME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been looking for this for YEARS! I used to watch Family Channel like crazy!

  • Yep. Me, too. Back when Family Channel wasn't crap. Disney Channel turned to crap, too.

  • The Disney Channel should show classics ALL THE TIME!!!!! I miss it back then!

  • This is when the Disney Channel was ACTUALLY good, from April 1983 to 1997. From 1998 to now, Disney Channel literally went srtaight to HELL.

  • @MysticArksRevenge When "Vault Disney" was created, DTV held out a little while longer there.

  • @MysticArksRevenge One thing I don't like about the way disney cartoons are today is most of their cartoons aren't cartoons. They are pixar films. My father gave a great example. It's not like watching cartoons. It's like watching a video game.

  • @mikemaninblack That is true. I am not a fan of their Pixar Films, but I like their cartoons on Disney Channel and Disney XD currently.

  • @MysticArksRevenge I just played some of this intro song by ear on the keyboard. I'm catching on fast with this! (: lol

  • @mikemaninblack Good work.

  • It's Blue Rhythm I've worked it out.

  • I know the first cartoon is The Klondike Kid from 00:07 to 00:11 but what's that second black and white Disney cartoon from 00:12 to 00:15?

  • Wow... I think I was 4 when I watched this... so many memories!

  • I'm just crazy about old Disney animated cartoons and films!

  • I remember this so much I especially loved seeing one that Annette Funicello sang, Tall Paul.

  • My favorite of the three. Thanks for uploading these! So many memories...

  • Oh, so this is what the original DTV intro was like.

All I git to see was a jazz tune with a dinner theater type setting, which may have been to cut time.

Such a shame they don't show this stuff anymore.

  • I've been looking for this for AGES! Thank you so much! Brings back memories! :D

  • Memories!!!!!!!!

  • thanks for sharing! brings back fun memories!

  • Holy moly I remember this way back in the old days of the 80's and 90's

What ever happened to this lol

  • DTV: the precurser to AMVs.

  • Not sure, but it was the same one CBS used during NBA Highlights in the 80's... God I miss the 80s...

  • I noticed watching the 1981 NBA Finals documentary. By the way, does anyone have a full audio clip of this theme?

  • Does anyone know what the name of this theme was?

  • I second that. I really wish though that someone would put like the segments between the videos on YouTube. I think I remember the checkered floor and the big TV made up of a bunch of smaller TVs. Vaguely though..

  • Freaky, man.

  • does anyone know the theme music?

  • I want my DTV!

  • Man, DTV was such an awesome thing the Disney Channel had in the 80's!

  • Just about everything the Disney Channel had in the 80's was the best!

  • Amen to that!

  • dtv is like mtv with disney
