The beginning encapsulates the whole album right away. "Speak to Me" is masterful in the way that it slowly introduces a great deal of turmoil, and then supersedes that with a flurry of sound effects that grows progressively louder and finally culminates in the delicate balance of "Breathe". You cannot help but let yourself go as the "Speak to Me" transforms into "Breath". It is as if someone took all of the madness and made it stop. It tries to suck you in right away....let it.

This is the first time I've ever heard this album. My dad introduced Pink Floyd to me about a month ago. Wow is all I can say. This is musical genius.
there are certain albums that change a man. this is one of them. piper at the gates of dawn is another. Sgt peppers lonely hearts club band is yet another. these albums have to be listened to from beginning to end before you can get the full experience and see the vision they had
they talk and sing about what we go and are in Wake-up people
wake-up know where you put your energy and for who
run away from them and get together with love and intelligence
peace to the good one and time to time open an history book to see if it 's or not a reality

Am I the only one that finds it sort of ironic to look through the comments section and literally see the words of a dead man on his own video? It is a weird and mildly profound feeling, gives one an idea of just how quickly death comes and goes and that we are destined for the same thing. The only object that can tell our future with 100% certainty is a coffin, and this album only intensifies the feeling. It is almost sentimental. RIP LHHig
@EasyMothaFukinZ upon further review I have concluded that your comment was douchy and somewhat uncalled for. Irony can be used to describe more than one "literary device". It is dependent on the context in which it is used. Get a life.

@hegelets I hope Syd Barret's ghost eats your soul. I'll have you know that great gig in the sky is one of the greatest vocal solos of all time. Critics and listeners alike agree. Other than one little snag. There's a saying that says "don't be that guy", well congrats, your "that guy". Happy?
@pinkvintage007 My condolences, I won't pretend I knew the man the way you did. The only thing I know we had in common is that we liked this album a lot.
@Maskedfreakinabox His love for Pink Floyd would blow you away. He had the biggest collection and his knowledge about them was incredible. I feel blessed to have had the chance to get to know him. @pinkvintage007 thanks so much for your tribute to LHHig who was a dedicated fan to say the least; I hope enough people read your post to accumulate MANY thumbs up and remain at the top of the list. Pink Floyd has been my favorite since seeing them perform in early 1970's - I appreciate that love he, myself and others share. Louis will never be forgotten...those close to him have my condolences. May he rest in peace and Shine On for eternity!
@lilRadRidinHood Thank you so much for this truely thoughtful comment. Louis was one of my best friends. He has an IMPECCABLE knowledge of this band. You could ask him anything and he knew it. Unfailing, Most true Love for this Band. Dedicated doesnt begin to explain it. He will never be forgotten and I only wish his love for this album lives on through youtube always. But hey, he gets to be with Syd and Richard!!! You know he's got it made up there! :)
@pinkvintage007 Sorry to hear about your friend... I come here and listen, when all around me are taking the world too seriously. With the utmost respect, Craig.
Music from a time when the album as a whole was far more important than the "single." Nowadays the 8 or 10 other songs on a recording are an afterthought and the "single" is what really matters. Pretty sad...
And actually, it's quite the contrary, because the single is made for people to buy it, so it's commercial, and the rest of the album is what the artist really wanna show (almost all what he wanna show)!
Haha, you don't understand what I said: I totally agreeded with you! I said that, nowadays, the music industry is working like that with bad commercial meaningless music who just wanna make money, and what i meant is Pink Floyd wasn't that kind of group because they did exactly what they wanted, and it's sad to realise that time has changed and nowadays it's impossible to find something even a little close to what Pink Floyd did because of that!
I had a heart attack and had to go to the Hospital. When they were working on me they played Dark Side of the Moon on Large speakers. They said it helps you to relax…..It worked!!!!!!!
yooo i only go on this vid wen im high as fuk nd im on it nowww

@lilRadRidinHood Thank you so much for this truely thoughtful comment. Louis was one of my best friends. He has an IMPECCABLE knowledge of this band. You could ask him anything and he knew it. Unfailing, Most true Love for this Band. Dedicated doesnt begin to explain it. He will never be forgotten and I only wish his love for this album lives on through youtube always. But hey, he gets to be with Syd and Richard!!! You know he's got it made up there! :)

Music from a time when the album as a whole was far more important than the "single." Nowadays the 8 or 10 other songs on a recording are an afterthought and the "single" is what really matters. Pretty sad...
clockworkorange09 8 months ago in playlist even more oldies
@clockworkorange09 its not necessarily sad
its just an interesting difference

@clockworkorange09
And actually, it's quite the contrary, because the single is made for people to buy it, so it's commercial, and the rest of the album is what the artist really wanna show (almost all what he wanna show)!
azertypedro 8 months ago
@azertypedro You know nothing of Pink Floyd or how they viewed the music industry.

@clockworkorange09
