  • It's like having a very sick baby.

  • I would have called someone.

  • ours went off in my dorm last night... at like 2:30am and it was freezing out.. and i didnt even take a blanket or jacket because i was like half asleep.

Our alarm sounds like a nuclear war alarm or something and it has this robotic voice that says do not take the elevator and stuff like that.. it was so much fun *sarcasm*

  • lol we dont use theese thingsLOL!

  • To me this should be reported to college management so they can call the technicians to come service the alarms. I can tell this is an old system since its steel bells and most buildings now days have either chime strobes. Horn strobes or speaker strobes and not bells. I think that building needs an entirely new fire alarm system. Or at least a new controller. This happened many times at my high school and I believe the panel had some adjustments done to it as its different now then it was then.

  • You guys could have been expelled, fined, or have been in a lot of trouble for tampering fire safety equipment, that is so illegal. You guys used VERY GOOD team skills, and did not argue (unlike most humans). Standing in the cart is dangerous. Also, your building has TERRIBLE lighting. This could have been faulty sensors, a faulty control panel or annunciator, unpressurized sprinkler pipes, some weirdo pulling the fire alarm, or etc.

  • You guys could have just unscrewed and removed the bell from its mounting base. Pulling the alarm would have increased the alarm time, and fire and police officials would have arrived. Cutting the wires could start a fire, and disable some of the other bells in the building. Tying to silence the bell could have endangered you guys during a real fire. If it is still ringing, talk to building maintenance or whoever.

  • HAHAHAHAH> this takes me back. I lived on the dorms for like..3 years in a row; and sure enough; every single year, this fire alarm went off for NO REASON.

  • kooky cal arts dorms,,,,,,i lived there a few years ago in room 224,,,,,can that be the same old shopping cart kicking around, or maybe its freshly stolen ;-O

  • Hey FYI if a pullstation gets pulled and it's not a drill the monitoring company whould call911

  • wat was worng with the system?

  • I'm sure if the owner of that actual building would take a bat to the alarm. He might be fined but he would be like I need some sleep.

  • You could get in trouble for damaging or taking down fire alarms in your building.

Wasn't the alarm being taken care of?

Oh and nice job using the thick towels to muffle the sound of the alarm.

  • It would be cool if you broke one of them. You might get in trouble but it would be funny.

  • hey the fire alarm went off during my bat mitzvah more than 18 times (my friends kept count, not me). i don't know the model, but it's a big loud bell. luckily my part of the service was over.

  • lmao there trying to block the sound so funny

  • call maintenance... they should have had a key to reset the system...

  • @WheelockAlarms It was being rest, the system just kept going into alarm over and over.

  • happened on my birthday feb. 3!

  • they have wire cutters that have rubber on the handle so you wouldn't get electrocuted...

that's what i would have done, lol.

  • silly firealarm video

  • lol i would just remove the hull bell from the wall and just leave the strobe

  • ummm...why didn't they just go to the service panel and disable the alarm system by switching the breaker?

  • you'd need a key. even then, most fire alarm panels have battery backups.

  • ever tried dialing 911? That what should be done if fire alarms ring any time there is no test.

  • If you pulled it while the fire alarm was going, nothing would happen. If you pulled it when it wasnt ringing, it would go off until it is silenced again.

  • LOL

  • smart way to stop that!!!

  • 2:51 - "I don't know if we [...???] start destroying the fire alarm. We don't even use those, do we?"

Dumbest remark ever made. Gee, how often do you have fires in your building? How do you justify defeating a fire alarm because you 'never use it'?

Instead of defeating the alarm, how about call campus police, or the fire dept? Defective fire alarms are dangerous!

What college is this? It amazes me that college students would do something this dumb.

  • Speaking of dumb.... it was a joke, doofus! Clearly, somebody needs to get a life.... and a new funny bone.

  • isn't that a felony?

  • hahah you could of just busted open the box and set it to silence everything. the lights would still go so you would know if there actually was one anyway, besides the smell of smoke and people running.

  • Actually, in a building that large you most likely would not notice for a while.

  • Take a Hammer and pop the fucking alarm and smash the strobe!

  • the name on the song with guitar playing?

    it´s flamenco right?

  • lol thats helerious

  • You could've found the panel for the fire alarm and turned on the Bell Silence.

  • Why again was he carrying a spoon around???

  • He was using it to jam the towel into/around the alarm.

  • to bend lol

  • At my old school, i got so pissed off at the fire alarm because it was malfunctioning tha i picked up my stool and smashed the horn/strobe with the part u sit on lol.

  • Why dont u just break the damn thing???

  • how did the spoon get stuck on the ceiling? lol.:)

  • By pure brute strength. :P

  • @bowlingstar52 Soft acoustic tiles.

  • I woulda ripped it off the screws and cut the black lead wire, or go look for the fire panel and manualy shut the thing off completely

  • So, was the fire alarm the high pitched noise, the bell or both. LOL at the kid flipping off the camera

  • The fire alarm is the bell. I think the high-pitched noise was the sound of the strobes charging, as you can only hear it when they're flashing. The camera must have really picked it up well. Either that or it was really audible, but I have that strobe, and it is no where near that loud...

  • why did the fire alarms keep going? was it mechanical problems or some person pulling it for fun?

  • I'm 99% sure it was technical problems... but I wouldn't be surprised if someone pulled one during the time.

  • Those bells are held in place with a hex-screw. I'd have just dug one up and unscrewed it. Nothing would get disconnected, the only difference would be is the gong would be missing, but knowing colleges, I'd probably get in MAJOR trouble.

I also agree bells are less painful than horns. That's why I like them better.

  • HA HA I would have taken a sludge hammer and beat the alarm rite out of the wall

  • Yeah, fire alarms are a pain in the a**, and just by listening to the video, the bells are loud. Luckily they weren't the double-projector horns

  • I got to ask, do you guys still have problems with the alarms going off or did a technician come to the building and fix the problem? What was the exact problem btw?

  • The problem was that the fire alarm would go off everytime technicans tried to reset the earthquake alarm. But instead of just leaving the earthquake alarm off, they decided to keep on trying to reset it ... at 3am or so in the morning. (Seriously, what are the chances of an earthquake ?) Technicians fixed the problem within the next two days.. But yeah, it was (in my opinon) unnecessary, and painful.

  • Wow, a fire alarm that just has a high pitch. Interesting.

  • is that one girl who signs is she deaf? she signed light flashing

  • Actually, no. But the room she's in is the um, deaf room (aka "death room") where there's a light in her room that goes off....that's gotta count for something, right? :P

  • Who performed the guitar music in this movie?

  • Paco De Lucia

  • Wish them to take care of the alarm at my elementry school, because it kept going off in our classroom and when we left the room, the alarm turned off it self then we got back in the classroom and by the time we got in and started to talk, it went off again. we told the janitor and took care of it.

when that happened, the next day it became my night mare even i am 20 yrs old. that one day i hid in the closet when they had a fire drill. the alarm is the same one but with strobe and horn.

  • they had to get the fireman to get me out ,its just a fire drill.

  • The fact that most college students don't understand the basic operation of an alarm system is amazing. What a bunch of retards.

  • Yeah. It's a pity we didn't have your outstanding expertise to um...remedy the situation.

  • i think this was the longest video ive ever watched on here. it kept me interested the whole time. it was rather suspensful, and the spoon keeping stuck in the ceiling was an EXTRA BONUS TWIST! thanks for this simple and clever little movie. does is still go off?

  • Well, it stops at around 4 am later that morning... But we get a lot of false alarms to begin with. This day (that I filmed) just happens to be the worst case scenario. Hehe.. Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you were able to stick through all 5 minutes. :)

  • Awesome!!!

  • great first post!! better than mine, my first post was utter shit. keep it up! OMFG I TOTALLY HAVE THAT THUNDERCAT SHIRT

  • y not fill the bell with CALKING or remove the hammer

  • The "hammer" is on the inside of the bell, so in order to remove it (which takes a lot of effort), you'd first have to take the bell (gong) off, and then unscrew the mechanism from the backbox exposing the back of the bell mechanism. Like I said, just taking the gong off would have done the trick - everything's still connected, but because there'd be nothing for the "hammer" to hit, there'd be no loud noise (the "hammer" itself would make a thudding noise, but not a loud one).

  • That would be destruction to the bell. All they did was put towels on the alarms, but that was not destroying the bells.
