  • this did not work for me i dont know what i did wrong but it just wont work.

  • Did you clean that part in 6:40 with rubbing alcohol AND thermal compound?

  • advtel its me slimthuger34567 from the ps3 someone hack me and i just got robbedif u dont beleivav me ur clan is dusk

  • @advtel Why do you need the heat gun if you are going to heat the motherboard and then let it cool before apply the thermal compound?

  • well were is your part 2?

  • @arcanineC click videos and click ps3 reassembly like 13 thousand other people were smart enough to do

  • Thanks bro I had mine 4 yrs did everything and used artic silver thermal and it works great vid you saved my ps3 now I can do it when it goes again

  • Thanks! I can't believe it worked and I can't believe I reassembled it properly!

  • can i use a hair drier

  • @snugdegree No use a heat gun.

  • @advtel

    Why not a hair dryer?

I don't think I'll be using it for a while when I fixed my PS3 afterwards.

  • @killerzero259 I know it sounds crazy but google it, there's all kind of videos and info on it!

  • Thanks it really help me

  • my dad and I, will be trying this!!!!

  • Thanks so much! Tried it and it worked! I didn't have a heating gun so I found out about putting the mother board in the oven. I did 400 degrees for 10 min. Only problem was I blew up the little battery on the mother board. Got a new battery, put it all together and it works!

  • @MADDOG3333777 Didn't think of an oven.

  • @MADDOG3333777 that cant be true

  • can u use a blow dryer?

  • @TheSpiike95 No, you need a heat gun.

  • Whats the name of the themal compound, and how much time do you heat the board with a 750 heat gun .

  • @Sundafance It's called Arctic Silver 5, you can find it in RadioShack. Heat the board for about 3 minutes in a circular motion. Spend about a minute heating up the GPU and CPU.

  • @advtel Thank you

  • will a lighter work?

  • @05Anarchy No, it wont.

  • Would this work on the 60gb as well? I think it would, just curious.

  • @nomercy415 No, the 60gb has a different layout.

  • do you need a heat gun

  • having this problem since last week,,,,bought my ps3 since 2 1/2 years,,...the problem started to happen i play games about 20 or 30 minutes then it just turn off by itself and the red light blinking,,,,,,i watch your video and start to repair it by my self,,by putting on the themal compound,,,at first it not working right the fan start to make loud noise then turn off again ,after 3-4 times cleaning the themal paste,,then finally it works, hopefully it all goes well,,...thanks for the video,,.

  • DON'T MOVE IT!!!! The solder is soft and liquid, and any jolts or bumps can jar lose even a tiny surface-mounted resistor...then you're hosed. Just let it SIT for 15 minutes to cool... and you'll be fine to flip it and do the other side.

  • omg ur not suppose to move the board after heating. u let it sit for about 15min then come back and flip it. and ur suppose to heat the gpu, cpu, near by thermo pads, and heat the exact same spot on the back side.

  • @XTruth Did you even watch the video?

  • @XTruth Hey i that the blow dryer or not

  • @Jack71706 Its a heat gun.

  • Mine lasted 8 months now I need to fix it again

  • how can u help preventing this from happening? would an intercooler help? and if this is a temporary fix would it last longer with an intercooler?

  • Did exactly as video showed...IT WORKED...BUT....1 hour use and go YLOD AGAIN!! This sucks...now I gotta do it again to take dvd out.

  • @Rhezoloution This happened to me several times. It’s only a temporary fix.

  • just happened:( wondering how long does this fix last because i came across some people saying that it's only a temporary fix.

  • @jam0n1t Yes, it's a only a temporary fix, but it can last you half a year if your lucky.

  • where did u get da thermal compound and if this is done wit a hairdrier how long do u think it would take

  • @bankaimasterxc You can get the thermal compound at radioshack. A hairdryer is not hot enough and won't work. Use a heat gun that can go about 700F and go over the board for about 2 minutes.

  • how come liquid flux is not used in some videos and is in others????

  • @MrLaing1989 Its optional you could apply it if you want. It wont change the outcome. Some people think it will last longer with it applied.

  • ok sorry, it did.

  • @patjekees does it cut off again or is it alive again

  • @bankaimasterxc i haven't tried it for a second time. i will sometime..

  • and where is part 2? it didnt work right? and i know why....

  • @patjekees Go to my channel and you will find part two.

  • f;lkdsfja;l

  • Hey Advil!

  • It will work longer if you use a good amount where it will cover the whole GPU and CPU but not in a liberal amount. Make sure it covers all and only those two processors. I work on 360s and it is always a must for these also. Other than that This video was VERY helpful and explains everything well :)

  • @fhsfiddleboy09 Yea I have actually tried covering the whole thing before and it still breaks down. I think there is something faulty on my motherboard. I have fixed it about 9 times now.

  • @advtel Dang dude, that sucks. Btw I just took one apart and it had a watch battery in it. Is that normal? Im not gonna lie Im in the middle of my first ps3 right now. The advise from earlier was only based on 360 knowledge.

  • @fhsfiddleboy09 A watch battery? Was it covered with green material?

  • how long did ur ps3 last once u did this

  • @Bonecrusher1302 It depends sometimes a week, sometimes a month.

  • @advtel i talked to a guy at best buy and if u buy this thermal compound thats really good online it will last a year or more

  • @Bonecrusher1302 The thermal compound comes in a small tube. I highly doubt it will last you a year. I guess it all depends how many times it breaks.

  • @advtel i know but the guy said that it much stronger than other thermal compunds so ill see

  • Is that a hair dryer???

  • @bradzab1123 No its a heat gun. A hair dryer is not hot enough.

  • @bradzab1123 No its a heat gun. A hair dryer is not hot enough
