This isn't good at all. She wanted to show Onassiss that she was still good...(which breaks my heart 'cause she was a great Operatic singer). Also she knew that her acting\teaching\directing was all a scham.
I love this film. It's arthouse with quality acting from Maria Callas and the children. What a shame Maria didn't continue doing films as her exotic good looks would be excellent for James Bond style films. I suppose she would reject such roles anyway. Brava La Divina!
The musical soundtrack uses Slavic, Greek, Arabic, and Japanese elements, while the costumes are fashioned on Aztec and Sumerian motifs. Pasolini did this to add an oneiric quality to the movie.
I like this film, they should make more modern-time ones like this, for opera's sake.

I think this is a incredible genius and beatiful movie.
The imagination of this film seems to make "Blade runner".

She singlehandedly made this movie come to life.
I have it on video - it was given to me as a birthday gift. Quite interesting actually.

I saw this film a long long time ago.
And I remember the back ground music well, which was a Japanese classic music, probably Nagauta.
I think Pasolini thought this music was far out mysterious for the western people.
