March 6 (Bloomberg) -- Canadian opposition parties are asking Prime Minister Stephen Harper to fire his chief of staff following a report that he described a campaign official for Hillary Clinton as saying her position on the North American Free Trade Agreement can be taken with a ``grain of salt.''
Canadian Press, citing an unidentified source, reported yesterday that Chief of Staff Ian Brodie made the remark on Feb. 26. Clinton spokesman Phil Singer said the campaign ``did not sanction nor would we ever sanction anyone to say such a thing.'' Singer said the Canadian government was free ``to reveal the name of anyone they think they've heard from.''
'Hillary Clinton's campaign team has never told any Canadian officials that their candidate's anti-NAFTA statements are just political posturing, the Prime Minister's Office said Friday.
In the midst of the so-called NAFTA-gate affair, the PMO clarified — two days after it was first asked a question about the matter — that Canadian officials never requested, nor received, a private briefing from Clinton's aides on her position on the continental trade treaty.'

The difference is that in the first case, you have a named person within the Obama Campaign that had a meeting with Canadian officials talking about Nafta and admits that! In the other case you have a "unnamed source" who supposedly claim he/she heard a Canadian official say that "someone" within the Clinton campaign told him to be cool about the Nafta talk. The Clinton-Nafta-Gate isn't a story because it's not even credible enough to be classed as hearsay.
