She has a great voice, but I think this song is best sung legit, not belted. It's about flight and escape, and I think that's best captured by a fluttering, passionate soprano note, not by a belt of strength and desperation.

Those runs (riffs) are soooo pure!!! She's not screaming, she's definitely controlling her voice. Just watching this you can see how much she really becomes the song. The song itself allows for the singer to do their own vocal interpretations and she's given us her story in just 1 minute and 8 seconds! lol I LOVE THIS SOO MUCH!!! Even if he voice cracked a little bit, she was soo into the music that the crack seemed HONEST in the song! She does a GREAT job here! Kudos on a beautiful song!!!!

You can tell she has a pretty good voice, but she has no upper range. It just dies out completely. And her belt isn't very well controlled. Pretty good voice though. Wicked would be a good choice for her. Anything more legit than that would be a bad choice. :( Sorry to her fans. Just being truthful

@Phoenixdark1 She actually got cast on the 2nd national tour of Wicked as understudy for elphaba performing in ensemble in March. Guess someone thought her belt was well controlled. And she can sing legit because I've heard her.

This song is one of the first in the Craig Carnellia songbook. I got it at the Colony bookstore near the Eugene O'Neill Theatre (where Spring Awakening is playing) in NYC. I'm not sure if you can get it anywhere else, I've never seen it. It's suuuch a beautiful song : )

The choices she is making by lightening the sound on some passages sound to me (and I don't know her personally)that they are for stylistic and not because she simply has to. She has proved in the high mix belt that she is entirely capable of taking chest mix to the Ab. she is singing on more than one dynamic level, which is wonderful, smart and interesting. Since when can you call interpretation wrong? Especially not in a show setting. You don't know what kind of character work she has going on internally. This is the beauty of this song, it doesnt necessarily have to be what's written. You can make it what you want, like she did, quite brilliantly if I say so myself.

Literally these in my top two favorite performances of my life! Thus far at least, but still, I've seen a lot in my short time. My favorite thing about a performer is when someone truly let's go and reveals themselves baring their soul! Christine does these with such ease and grace.
