We're talking about games here not fucking movies! all bluray does is give you less discs but it does not effect the quality of the games.
Sorry but Bluray has not made a big impact like DVD and it certainly has not defeated the 360 which as popular as ever. The bluray player in the PS3 is old, you are better to get a stand alone player.
wtf sony is having prblm with blu ray cause alot of people hav this prblm ps3 is having troublle reading disc wtf sony i preferred that ps2 haded this prblm not ps3
i have the exact same problem man and i called sony and they said that they wood charge me 150 to send it out and give me a brand new ps3 ive had my 60 gig for over a year and just recently this happend i think it is bullshit cus this is a simalarity to the RED EYE and those people didnt have to pay 150 if there warranty was over we need to do somthin about this
Rang Sony here in Australia and they will fix the machine and return it free of charge within 6 weeks. Have not heard anything since monday though. Snet machine via post office.
how long have you had it for, if youve only had it a year or two, go to the shop ask for the new one and if they dont give it to you, send a letter or ring the fair trade industrie, be nice or they wont do it and if they accept to do it they will threaten the store with a 50,000 dollar fine. then you get a new ps3 :)
A. that your PS3 video settings don't match the type of tv you are using.
B.that the cable you are using don't match your PS3 settings(IE, you cant watch regular DVDs with an RGB cable unless you turn off the RGB swith coz it goes all green, but i dunno why it is doing it with bluray)
for fuck sake ur all wrong if ur tv has a HDMI input buy a cheap hdmi cable kick the ps3 into 1080i n watch ur dam muvee if u want HD quality on shit cables ur fuked ent u
I have a 27 inch HD westinghouse. When I play games through HDMI they look fine, but when Iplay movies via HDMI, the movie is pruple. Just like yours. But when I switch over to the old composites, the color is fine. Yes the mvoies are blue ray movies, my tv supports up to 1080i. The games look super suhweet, and are in perfect coloration. So what is the deal?
I have the same problem..but i got HDMI connected directly to Plasma Philip hd 42inch tv...i play spider man 3 movie. and.its exactly greenish like that..but with games no problem, only blue ray movie.
go to setting, and then change your HDMI to "part full" or whatever you call it, you only have two choics, it shouldn't be hard for you to find that out
Composite cables don't transmit an HD signal. You're playing a blu ray movie, which is supposed to be HD, with regular cables... don't you think that might be the problem?
I must say that has not happened to me and i have alot of blueray movies.. have you tried adjusting the color in the menu in your blueray.... not on your tv...
So that anyone that replies on here again knows, this is an issue on PAL systems and due to the fact that Blu-Ray videos output at NTSC over composite.
My TV is fine, the cable is fine, the connections are fine. The only issue is what I mentioned above, which causes what you see.
It was fine for everything else, except blu-ray. Turns out it was an problem with the PS3 producing an NTSC signal, when everything else was expecting a PAL one. only people in the UK are likely to get this issue.
PLEASE HELP !!! my playstation3 only plays blue ray films in 448 or 620 !!! the title screen displays 1.5 but as soon as I press play it goes to 448 !!!
Well, here is an update at least. This seems to have been some sort of incompatability with the way the PS3 broadcasts video over composite cables. At the moment I made this video, I was using composite cables and got this. Going over to Component cables sorted out the problem.
It seems to be an issue with the PS3 dispaying an NTSC signal on a setup that is expecting a PAL signal.
I still think it's a cable issue or a port issue with your TV. When a DVD player displays an incompatible PAL signal, video does not distort in its color hues - instead it distorts in picture aspect or picture flickering or not displaying the picture at all. I've connected a PS3 to 4 different TVs w/ this connection & it works fine. Have you tried connecting your PS3 to another TV using your composite cables?
Xbox 360 stands by it's product and has a 3 year service plan. You bastards better start praying because Sony ain't covering crap. LOL! PS3 is done son!
My copy of CR on Blu Ray worked fine, (Still havnet got back to watching normal definition yet) lol, it's weird the blue is green might be your colour on your TV set.
I had the exact same problem with my Bang&Olufsen TV everything was perfect when playing games, or DVD or HDVD but not with Blueray and DVD in NTSC standard. Today I found out that the tint of my TV was actually set too high on saturation, but as this tint option only appears while playing the movie I missed it

After upgrading to the latest firmware, my PS3 now does this. Worked fine before this update. Will not play games, blueray disks or dvds.
The machine is 3 weeks out of warranty and has hardly been used (not the time) but I have started buying blueray movies and this happens.

Umm for one why are you using composite cables?
moorcroft69 4 years ago
Mostly, because they are the only ones that come in the box with the machine.
Tsietisin 4 years ago
Composite cables don't transmit an HD signal. You're playing a blu ray movie, which is supposed to be HD, with regular cables... don't you think that might be the problem?
moorcroft69 4 years ago
Absolutely. It's part of the problem indeed. I had to wait until I got some component cables before I could watch the way it was supposed to be.
I think my concern was that I had not had this issue with any other video source, including other HD content.

You know, it almost looks like the classic PAL vs NTSC thing, where the colours get messed up - except it's digital, so that shouldn't happen!
I'd have a fiddle with your BD/DVD Video Output (HDMI) format, see if that helps.
For what it's worth, mine's fine, but I suspect that's scant consolation.
